Archivy a dokumentace performance art: hledání cesty mezi historií a mýtem. / Archives and documentation of performance art: at the intersection between history and myth.

Písaříková, Jana January 2016 (has links)
The PhD thesis deals with the role of archives in the contemporary artistic and curatorial practice, with an emphasis on the performance art. It also analyses the creation process, methodology and the contents of selected personal and institutional archives in both Czech and international contexts. The objective of the paper is to answer the following questions: In what way is the documentation and subsequent archiving of process-oriented forms of art performed? How is the history of the contemporary art formed and interpreted through these archives and with the help of the artistic and curatorial practice? To what extent are we able to reconstruct the history from records and performance documents that are only fragmented, thus making a reference to a real action? Do the archives leave some room for misinterpretation, creating a myth or personality cult through its system of classification of knowledge? How indeed is the performance art related to its own history; how is this history perceived by the performer alone; and how is it approached by the professional audience? The paper will also include the analysis of current state and possible solutions to the operation of the archive of the Faculty of Fine Arts, which is related to opening a dialogue among artists, theorists and institutions that might be interested in better accessibility of such an archive.

... und was nutzt mir das? Vorteile von Archivierung und Open Archives

Hesse, Dagmar 13 June 2005 (has links)
Electronic publishing over Open Archives does not help only to publish uncomplicatedly world-wide but reproach barrier-free access to such documents archives. The Archive „MONARCH“ from Technical University Chemnitz, cared for from University Library and Data processing Center of the University, was the first archive of this kind in Germany and is today still one of the best regarding quality and reliability. The lecture developed within an information meeting "Electronic publishing in Technical University Chemnitz - 10 years MONARCH", which were organized for information over and advertisement for publishing in electronic form. The advantages of archives are regarded by two sides, by the benefits for the author and by the use for searching after scientific full texts in the Internet. The author is able to archive himself for instance theses (diploma), Master- and Bachelor-works, theses, conference materials etc. The URL of every document is durable and quotable. Archiving and the entrance to the documents are free, to be found it e.g. over library catalogs, metasearches in archives and over search machines.

Wilhelm, Daniel 27 May 2022 (has links)
In many archives, file collections are among the data most frequently dealt with in the context of digital long-term archiving. Especially when dealing with “Nachlässen” and in the context of inadequate records management. The lecture wants to show that despite this relevance, the discussion of the topic in recent years has been low. In a second part, a handout is presented that tries to offer practical assistance in archiving file collections.

Ein Werkstattbericht: die Übernahme unstrukturierter Dateisammlungen im Stadtarchiv München

Baumann, Daniel 27 May 2022 (has links)
The Munich City Archives have a digital archive in operation since 2016 and since then take over digital data from the city administration of the state capital and from private sources, although the latters still are rare. The most common form of digital accessions are unstructured file collections. As a rule, these cannot be transferred into the archives’ repository without preparatory work. The article attempts to show the challenges unstructured file collections present us with when archiving, and how we analyze and evaluate such accessions in the Munich City Archives, supported by numerous software-tools, in the so-called pre-ingest and how we prepare them for the ingest.

Reismann, Bernhard A. 13 June 2022 (has links)
Based on the presentation of the current situation at the TU Graz archives, this contribution sticks up for the view, that increased awareness of the pre-archival area of records manegement ist necessary. Even when taking over unstructured digital documents it is necessary to use an interface software that meets the criteria of DIN 31644 for trustworhy digital long-term archives and enables the offices, producing the files, to deliver digital documents in an adequate manner. The functionality of such an interface, programmed an the TU Graz archives, is explained below using examples from the „Academic Honours“ and the official bulletin of the Graz University of Technology. In this context, however, the problem of links that lead from the bulletin to other homepages is also adressed, whereby the archival evaluation also plays an important role in this context. The introduction of master filing plans and/or particular filing plans as well as a constant contact with the administrative staff can also ensure a little more structure in the area of data storage in advance.

Born Digital Legal Deposit Policies and Practices

Zarndt, Frederick, Carner, Dorothy, McCain, Edward 16 October 2017 (has links)
In 2014, the authors surveyed the born digital content legal deposit policies and practices in 17 different countries and presented the results of the survey at the 2015 International News Media Conference hosted by the National Library of Sweden in Stockholm, Sweden, April 15-16, 2015.2 Three years later, the authors expanded their team and updated the survey in order to assess progress in creating or improving national policies and in implementing practices for preserving born digital content. The 2017 survey reach has been broadened to include countries that did not participate in the 2014 survey. To optimise survey design, and allow for comparability of results with previous surveys, the authors briefly review 17 efforts over the last 12 years to understand the state of digital legal deposit and broader digital preservation policies (a deeper analysis will be provided in a future paper), and then set out the logic behind the current survey.

Lindholm, Helen January 2021 (has links)
In the area of information sharing, that is how access to the information is made possible, how it is shared and how it is archived, there are many studies and research articles. During the past year, a new situation has arisen in many businesses and organisations as distributed work has become more common during the ongoing pandemic. This study sheds light on how information sharing is experienced by the employees in an organisation and how it works in practice after an organisation has introduced distributed work. The study was conducted using questionnaires as a quantitative method and a free text question to provide a richer empiric regarding the subject. The results show that distributed work entails high demands on information sharing in order to achieve sufficient knowledge among employees and that they feel informed. This applies to both the willingness and the tendency to share information and access to digital tools for information sharing and information archiving. This combination of distributed work and information sharing has not been explored to any great extent to date and thus this study can contribute to new knowledge in these areas.

Exploring Naming Behavior in Personal Digital Image Collections: the Iconology and Language Games of Pinterest

Sutcliffe, Tami 12 1900 (has links)
As non-institutional digital image collections expand into social media, independent non-professional image curators are emerging, actively constructing alternative naming conventions to suit their needs in a social collecting environment. This project considers how independent user-curators are developing particular sense-making behaviors as they actively contribute names to large, unstructured social image collections. In order to capture and explore this evolving language adaptation, Pinterest names are analyzed using a matrix composed of Panofsky’s three strata of subject matter, Rosch’s levels of categorical abstraction, Shatford Layne’s image attributes and Wittgenstein’s language game constructions. Analyzing Pinterest image names illuminates previously unnoticed behaviors by independent user-curators as they create shared collections. Exploring the various language choices which user-curators select as they apply this new curating vocabulary helps identify underlying user needs not apparent in traditionally curated collections restricted to traditional naming conventions.

An archival collecting framework for the records generated by South Africa's Portuguese community-based organisation in Gauteng

Da Silva Rodrigues, Antonio 11 1900 (has links)
South African institutions of preservation, such as archives, have often focused their collecting efforts on records of national significance and documenting the perspectives of the more dominant communities that represent power and government. This has resulted in the underrepresentation of certain communities in the archival heritage of the nation, such as the South African Portuguese community, whose contemporary history and experiences have not been adequately reflected in the country’s archival collections, including in those of government and other mainstream archival institutions and non-public institutions. Since South Africa has a number of Portuguese community-based organisations - and because the records they have created may be a potential resource for safeguarding the social history of this under-documented group - this study aimed to investigate the management of these records with a view of proposing a best practice model that would assist in their future management and guide their inclusion in any intended archival collection initiatives. Utilising a generic interpretive qualitative research design, the study revealed that the selected study population, namely the Portuguese community-based organisations in Gauteng, create and hold diverse types of records that may show important aspects of the community’s history that are worthy of systematic management and preservation. However, it became evident from the empirical findings that the recordkeeping practices of these organisations were performed inadequately, with records often being misplaced or discarded after their administrative use had expired. The findings also showed that, although these organisations had never thought of establishing an archival programme for themselves or depositing their records in any mainstream archives, they were willing to contribute their records to a planned archival collecting initiative of the community. Based on these findings, recommendations were made with regard to these organisational records in order to improve their management and to facilitate their potential inclusion in an archival collecting plan. The study also suggested an archival collecting framework and a model for these records. The proposed model followed an integrated approach, taking into account the community’s divergent collecting and custody preferences, such as the mainstream institutional acquisition of these records or these being preserved within community structures. / Information Science / D.
