Codevilla, Fernando Franco, 1980- January 2015 (has links)
Orientador: Prof. Dra. / Abstract: This thesis proposes a discussion about the relationship between sound and image in the fild of Sound and Visual Arts. In this way, we realize a mapping of artists consid- ering some manifestations such as Visual Music, Sound Sculptures, Graphic Notation, Paintings, Concrete Poetry, Cinema and Multimedia with electronic and digital re- sources. We observe in the works of the artists, how operations with materials occur, identifying the means and techniques that give forms to the works. It is also relevant to consider the context in which the works are inserted, as they are a reflction of their spacetime realization, being therefore in sync with the other factors determining each realization, such as the scientifi, technological and cultural contexts. In these inter- sections between the contexts, we verify the existence of other similarities involving the works, such as the relation between art and science, since several works are developed from scientifi concepts, or are produced through collaboration between art- ists, scientists and engineers, or still, in more recent studies, it is common to fid works elaborated with the same means that are used in scientifi research. Hence, we focus in the functionality of the artists and treat the sound and visual elements as materi- als that are used in the formative processes of the artworks. With these principles, we are interested in discovering the ways of establishing relationships between sound and image. / Doutor

Art and technology: an analysis of this relationship in the field of graphic art since 1960, with specific emphasis on the development of printmaking

Thorburn, Dominic January 1984 (has links)
From Introduction: The reIationship between technology and art today is a logical extension of a collaborative tradition with ancient roots. The artist has always been a principal perpetrator of technological innovation. He, through the natural progression of technical means, has virtually evolved each new art form. There are many examples such as the 'lost wax' casting process, Jan Van Eycks oil paint innovations, Senefelders 'chemical printing' and Niecephore Niepce's first eight hour photographic exposures. Even woodblocks were in their time an innovation. All art uses technology of a kind and artists who prefer to remain aloof from it are in fact merely using technologies absorbed in older traditional media further back in the history of art. It is the flexibility of art to adapt to changing conditions of the world today which has spurred change and brought about a new dynamism in the graphic arts. The present intensity of interest in the print can be directly attributed to the advancement of technology and communication in this century. A whole new field of materials, methods and techniques are now available to the venturesome graphic artist and printmaker. Along with the contemporary technology dedication to expression leads naturally to innovation in aesthetics.

The emergency of a new production technology, the 3D printing, has been considered by enthusiasts as a “New Industrial Revolution” for confronting the industry paradigms such as mass production. This technology consists in the transposition of three-dimensional digital models into physical objects and becomes popular thanks to virtual communities that actively share information. 3D printing has become a hotbed of experimentation for artists, both for those who were already working with digital media and wanted to materialize their creations, and for those who set out to explore new paths through the possibility of dialogue between digital and physical. Many works of art can demonstrate some optimism about the supposed revolutionary power of this new technology, or discuss the implications of its possible uses in society. In this context, this research considers the proposals of some of those works of art, and presents the art project “Deliberator”: a poetic reflection on the emergence of wiki-weapons, and unexpected use for 3D printing.

This work aims to present the results of a mapping of the set of proposals made poetic observed in the field of artistic production that involves cell phones. We focused in artistic modality called Mobile Art, so treated by the use of mobile devices 'in' and 'to' this mode of production. The study period was from 2001 to 2010. It started from the look on the incorporation of devices in artistic production and the increasing development of these. The questions that drove the study were the following: what is the situation in which the productions are performed on and to cell phones? What may appear different in a number of possible proposals for the dissemination of these overcrowded? Our first hypothesis was that the production of poetic proposals with mobile devices, especially cell phones, will soon be a predominant mode with communication features contemporary, given the issue of media convergence. The second that the realization of the mapping, in the direction of the analysis of the set, and the classification of these proposals developed could allow reflection and organization towards a mapping focused on the use of mobile phones, the availability of the database would help in future research on the subject.

Artemídia learning : A-learning e-compartilhamento de conhecimento /

Matta, André Martins da, 1980- January 2016 (has links)
This detailed report is the result of an academic research that studies the artistic processes and procedures in creating intuitive platforms and interfaces used in media devices. The A-learning Platform consists concepts of Technical Design, Visual Arts, Artemídia, Cognitive Communication and experiences both for those who produce as to who interacts with information. Discusses the art of setting as a complete creative process and not just the final product. Proves that art already exists in thought before the first drawing and continues to exist throughout the process, and may be registered in each artistic procedure. The same art continues to exist in their readings, interventions, transformations and contributions received, both in virtual environments such as in classroom environments. The ability to generate and store historical content in an academic repository, favor the development of research in Art. The A-learning Platform suggests the creation of a virtual library with the possibility of access at any time or space without the need for physical movement or prior appointment. In this context, Art provides a journey through time and space, tracing lines that mark times, moments, situations, stimulating the expression of senses and feelings, memories both for those who produce as to the recipient; a mutual exchange of experiences with the constant possibility of being present at every change of look / Mestre
