Empatía y autoeficacia en voluntarios bomberos de diversas bombas de Lima Metropolitana / Empathy and Self-efficacy in volunteers Firefighters from diverse fire stations in Lima Metropolitan

Se analizó la relación entre las variables de empatía, autoeficacia general y autoeficacia en situaciones sociales, así como entre sus dimensiones. La muestra estuvo conformada por 159 bomberos voluntarios (21.4% mujeres y 78.6% hombres), con una edad promedio de 36.08 años (DE = 10.90), pertenecientes a diversas bombas de Lima Metropolitana. Se les aplicó tres instrumentos: el Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI adaptado al español), Escala de Autoeficacia General y Escala de Autoeficacia en Situaciones Sociales. En relación a los resultados, se encontraron relaciones significativas entre la empatía y autoeficacia tanto general como en situaciones sociales. Específicamente, la dimensión Toma de Perspectiva de empatía presentó una correlación positiva, y de magnitud moderada con Autoeficacia General (rs = .44, p <. 01). Además, Toma de Perspectiva y las dimensiones de Autoeficacia para el control cognitivo (rs = .35, p <. 01) y Autoeficacia para habilidades de afrontamiento (rs = .31, p <. 01), presentan correlaciones positivas, y de magnitud moderada. Por el contrario, Distrés personal se asoció negativamente con todas las dimensiones de autoeficacia, respectivamente, (rs = -.28, p <. 01), (rs = -.27, p <. 01), (rs = .40, p <. 01), (rs = -.36, p <. 01). Adicionalmente, se encontró una relación negativa, y de magnitud moderada entre la edad y la dimensión Fantasía de empatía (rs = -.31, p <. 01). / The relationship between the variables of empathy, general self-efficacy and self-efficacy in social situations, as well as between their dimensions, was analyzed. The sample consisted of 159 volunteer firemen belonging to several fire stations of Metropolitan Lima. Of both sexes, being 21.4% women and 78.6% men, with an average age of 36.08 years (SD = 10.90). To which three instruments were applied: the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI adapted to Spanish), the General Self-Efficacy Scale and the Self-Efficacy Scale in Social Situations. Regarding the results, it was found that, in general, significant relationships were found between empathy and self-efficacy, both general and social situations. Specifically, the Taking Empathy perspective dimension presented a positive correlation, and of moderate magnitude with General Self-efficacy (rs = .44, p <. 01). Docentes universitarios: Una mirada desde la autoeficacia general y engagement laboral

<p>La presente investigación busca comprender cómo se presenta la autoeficacia general y el <em>engagement </em>laboral en docentes de la carrera de psicología en una universidad particular de Lima Metropolitana. Para alcanzar dicho objetivo se realizaron entrevistas a profundidad a siete docentes: tres mujeres y cuatro varones.  A partir de ellas se comprende qué factores personales les han servido a estos docentes en el ejercicio de su profesión y también con qué se encuentran ellos <em>engaged</em>. Finalmente, las conclusiones a las cuales se llegó es que los docentes son autoeficaces, pues evalúan sus capacidades como su entorno para poder alcanzar el objetivo. Y también se halló que se encuentran <em>engaged </em>con su labor de docencia, esto debido a la interacción que tienen con sus estudiantes pues investigan más y se mantienen actualizados en su campo profesional.</p> / This research aims at understanding general self-efficacy and work engagement of professors of the Psychology Program of a private university in metropolitan Lima. To reach this objective, in-depth interviews with seven professors were conducted: three of them were women and four were men. Based on those interviews, it was possible to understand what personal factors have helped said professors to carry out their work as well as with what they are engaged. Finally, it was concluded that professors have self-efficacy, as they assess their skills and their environment to achieve their goals. Another finding was that they are engaged with their teaching work, and this is based on their interaction with their students, since they do more research and are up-to-date with current practices in their field.

Determinants of mental health in college students from Lima and Huanuco / Determinantes de la salud mental en estudiantes universitarios de Lima y Huánuco / Determinantes da saúde mental em estudantes universitários de Lima e Huánuco

The aim of this study was to identify the psychological variables that predict the mental health in a sample of 1, 024 students from Lima and Huánuco. For this purpose, the following scales were used: General Self-efficacy, Coping Estimation Inventory (COPE 60), Academic Experiences Questionnaire (QVA-r), Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) and SF36 questionnaire.Results showed that perceived stress, the avoidant coping, the interpersonal area and study center predict mental health. The mediation analysis revealed that stress mediates the relation between the avoidant coping and the mental health. These findings of this  research may contribute to the development of programs to improve the mental health in college students. / La presente investigación tiene como objetivo identificar las variables psicológicas que predicen la salud mental en una muestra de 1,024 estudiantes universitarios de Lima y Huánuco. Para ello, se aplicaron las siguientes escalas: Autoeficacia General, el Cuestionario de Estimación del Afrontamiento (COPE 60), el Cuestionario de Vivencias Académicas (QVA-r), la Escala de Estrés percibido (PSS) y el cuestionario SF 36. Los resultados indican que el estrés, el estilo de afrontamiento evitativo, el área interpersonal y el centro de estudios predicen la salud mental. El análisis de mediación indica que el estrés media la relación entre el estilo evitativo y la salud mental. Los hallazgos de la presente investigación pueden contribuir con el desarrollo de programas que busquen mejorar la salud mental de los estudiantes universitarios. / A presente investigação tem como objetivo identificar as variáveis psicológicas que preveem a saúde mental em uma amostra de 1.024 estudantes universitários de Lima e Huánuco.Para isso, se aplicaram as seguintes escalas: Auto eficácia Geral, Questionário de Estimativa de Enfrentamento (COPE 60), o Questionário de Vivencias Acadêmicas (QVA-r), a Escala de Estresse Percebido (PSS) e o Questionário SF36. Os resultados indicam que o estresse, o estilo de enfrentamento evitativo, a área interpessoal e o centro de estudos preveem a saúde mental. A análise das medições indicam que o estresse media a relação entre o estilo evitativo e a saúde mental. As descobertas das presente investigação podem contribuir com o desenvolvimento de programas que busquem melhorar a saúde mental dos estudantes universitários.
