"Är du okej, vill du att vi ska sluta?" : En intervjustudie om att kommunicera samtycke i lesbiska sexpraktiker

Hammarstedt, Alice January 2016 (has links)

Objectification of Gay African American Males in the Bondage Discipline Sadism Masochism Community

Jackson Jr, Gregory Wayne 01 January 2017 (has links)
The purpose of this phenomenological study was to improve the understanding of Sexual Objectification (SO) of gay African American males in the bondage, discipline, sadism, masochism (BDSM) community. Although many studies have been conducted on SO of women and other minority populations, there is a lack of research on the lived experience of gay African American males participating in the BDSM community. The theoretical framework for this study was Fredrickson and Roberts's objectification theory, with a conceptual framework focused on SO that gay African American males experienced while participating in the BDSM community. The research questions were designed to elicit the participants' experiences about their participation in the BDSM community. Ten gay African American males, selected through purposive sampling, described their reasons for participating in the BDSM community, what the participants gained from participating in the BDSM community, how they experienced SO, how they handled these experiences, and how these experiences changed them. The interviews were recorded, transcribed, coded, and analyzed by hand. The data were analyzed in 3 stages: open coding, axial coding, and selective coding techniques. Five themes emerged from the interviews: community, gained knowledge and freedom, verbal objectification, avoidance, and mistrust. This study contributes to the existing body of literature and promotes social change by fostering dialog about objectification. Through this dialog, behavioral patterns and cultural norms can be altered over time by increasing awareness about objectification and its effects on people. This study provided gay African American males a voice to discuss a phenomenon that impacts their lives.

Bergengren, Anna January 2013 (has links)
In this essay, I interview six users from the website darkside.se, which is an internet community for BDSM practitioners. I’m using Judith Butlers theorys about performativity and heteronormativity, Gayle Rubins model the charmed circle; of which sexualities is regarded as approved and which is not, and Fanny Ambjörnssons explenation of queer theory. With the interviews as my material, I investigate how sex and gender is produced and used in BDSM and at Darkside. I discuss trans, heteronormativity, sexism and hierarchies of power related to sex and gender, in BDSM and at Darkside. I discover that most of my informants is experiencing different kinds of trouble or anxiety concerning their sexual practices in relation to sex and gender, and I examine which different strategies my informants are using to handle this complexes of problems.

Jalksjö, Rebecca, Sers, Monika January 2018 (has links)

Being Kinky: Intimacy, Ethics, and the Self

LeBlanc, Christine 14 December 2020 (has links)
Kink has a long history of being condemned in Western society. Even though kink is prevalent in popular culture (and in many people’s bedrooms) it continues to be considered abnormal and associated with deviance. Through nine in-depth qualitative interviews, this thesis explores the experiences of kinksters with kink, their engagement with the kink community, and their negotiations of stigma in everyday life. These experiences are analyzed using Foucault’s theories on discourse and technologies of the self and Goffman’s conceptualization of stigma. The thesis found that while the social condemnation of kink has resulted in members of the kink community struggling to manage their identity as kinksters, they also find joy and a sense of belonging within the kink community. Moreover, through the kink community, kinksters learn to conceptualize and practice consent in a new way; one that is rooted in being an ethical subject. The thesis concludes with a call to challenge the normative tropes and stigmatic assumptions of deviance that continue to marginalize and oppress kinksters.

Comparing and contrasting lifestyle and professional dominatrices: a division by tribute

Farrington, Elizabeth Marie 28 September 2017 (has links)
Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) / In the realm of BDSM there are a few different roles. There is a dominant, which is a person who controls a BDSM scene. There is a submissive, which is a person who gives up control to the dominant during a scene. In a BDSM scene, there must always be a person who is playing the role of a dominant and a person who is in the role of the submissive. This study looks at two different identities associated with the dominate role, lifestyle and professional. This study aims to compare and contrast the two identities on their backgrounds, how they identify themselves, and their views on tribute. Tribute is receiving either gifts or money in exchange for BDSM services. Two theories, social constructionism and exchange theory, were used to create the interview questions for this survey. For this study I interviewed four lifestyle dominatrices and three professional dominatrices. Data from six blogs, three lifestyle dominatrices’ blogs and three professional dominatrices’ blogs, were used as well. My findings suggest that in discovery of, and in BDSM play, the dominatrices are similar and that the defining difference between lifestyles and professionals is the acceptance of money. My findings also conflict a little with Viviana Zelizer’s theory that the receiver of a gift is necessarily submissive to the giver.

Ett slag för njutningen. En studie om BDSM-utövande inom relationer

Carlström, Lotta January 2011 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to hightlight experiences of living in a relationship where BDSM is being exercised. The acronym is an umbrella term for bondage/discipline, dominance/submission and sadomasochism. The study is based on qualitative interviews with five persons who define themselves as BDSM practitioners. The overall questions of this study are: How does the BDSM practice appear in everyday life? How did the practice start and how has it developed over time? What's included in the sexual BDSM practice? The empirical material has been analyzed with interactionism as the theoritical framework. The picture that emerges is complex. To define oneself as a BDSM practitioner might mean different things for different people where the extent of the practice, what it consists of and how integrated it is in the lives of people might vary from person to person. But despite differences there are also recurring, common patterns in the stories of the informants. All of them describe the practice in positive terms. To a great extent the practice has to do with sexuality where an explicit power exchange, an assuming of dominant and submissive roles and an everyday life filled with rituals, rules and agreements are described as being key elements. Punishment, in the form of physical pain or humiliation, is common when the rules are not obeyed. All the interviewees use safewords to make sure both are comfortable about what's happening. Some sort of tool is utilized by all. The most common are whips, bonds, chains and locks, paddles, clamps/clothespins, knives, butt plugs and ropes. There's an occupation among the informants to find and to form strategies to cope and to adapt the BDSM role to other roles and here the parental role is the most apparent. Also an ambition to create a balance between the personal norms and the norms of the BDSM culture and those of the overall society can be seen. The interviewees express a search for answers to why one practices BDSM. In this process they return to experiences, almost exclusively of a destructive nature, and they wonder if these experiences have affected their sexuality and their preference for BDSM. It's like this even if the common attitude in society actually has become more accepting, for example with the help of media, recent research and the fact that it's not anymore is considered being a disorder.

Eskortverksamhet med fokus på försäljning av BDSM-tjänster

Carlström, Lotta January 2010 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to examine escort-business with a focus on sales of BDSM-services (Bondage and Discipline, Dominance and Submission, Sadism and Masochism). The study is based on qualitative interviews with three informants providing BDSM-services, as well as a survey with 96 men who requested domination of escorts (the survey was carried out by an escort in the 1980s). The analysis of this material resulted in the identification of three themes on which the study centers: The personal experiences of the three escorts, the interaction between the escorts and the clients, and the changes over time when it comes to the performance of BDSM-services. The study has a gender perspective. The important conclusions are that there are several differences between prostitution having a focus on BDSM-services and other prostitution. Sexual intercourse is not a common occurrence. Role-playing games involving domination and submission, physical pain, humiliation and fantasies are instead central elements. Due to the security risks submissive services have been assumed not to exist in prostitution. In this study, however, two of the informants present themselves as submissive. Nothing in the empirical material suggests a greater security risk for escorts providing BDSM-services than other sexsellers. Instead, the escorts themselves characterize the phenomenon by straightforwardness, upright communication, and pre-agreed rules of the interaction.

Thorell Walker, Shani, Felicia, Rönnqvist January 2023 (has links)
This study examines how the discussion around femdom is conducted in comments on an internet forum. Femdom is a sexual role-taking where the woman is superior to the man in a sexual relationship. A large part of the previous research on sexual power structures is based on a role-taking where the woman is subservient to the man. Therefore, it was studied how and what role gender and power have within the phenomenon of femdom, with a focus on female empowerment in sexual relationships. The approach to study the discussion around femdom in discussion threads was via text analysis with content analysis as a methodological approach. The theories used in the essay were Hirdman's theory of the gender contract and Gagnon & Simon's theory of sexual scripts. The results showed that the discussions around femdom that make up the study's empiricism were focused on gender, power and equality.
