Procesní platforma pro informační systém Národní dotace / Process Platform for the National Subsidies Information System

This master thesis deals with proposal of design and demonstration of possible integration between Nation Subsidies Information System 2016 (ISND) and future solutions Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) Agribus and process platform Business Process Management (BPM) Agribus. There is performed an analysis of requirements for ESB AgriBus and BPM AgriBus. For the implementation of ESB AgriBus is used Apache ServiceMix. Furthermore, this thesis deals with a proposal of improvements of the current solution of ISND, which are required to perform new role in the ESB AgriBus. The possibility of the integration between ISND and ESB AgriBus is demonstrated on a model business process of application for grants.

CPM - strategi : Planering, utveckling och implementering utav en övergripande Business intelligence strategi

<p>Syftet med denna uppsats är att ta fram en Corporate Performance Management strategi som man kan nyttja för att ändra organisationsstrukturen till att uppnå en mer holistisk struktur med hjälp utav Business intelligence verktyg. Helt enkelt hur man skapar en helhet inom organisationen med en Business intelligence strategi. Den forskningsfråga som författaren har fokuserat mest på involverar hur man utvecklar och implementerar en CPM-strategi. De andra frågorna utreder vilka fördelar som finns med att införskaffa en CPM strategi och vilka Business intelligence verktyg som används i en CPM-strategi. I denna uppsats utförs en studie om begreppet Corporate Performance Management och kunskapsbidraget är en strategi för hur man utvecklar och implementerar CPM. Manuella sökningar efter litteratur ifrån olika bibliotek har granskats och både böcker och artiklar har hittats. Internet har självklart använts till att söka efter datorbaserad information och författaren har hittat relevanta artiklar. Forskningsfrågorna har också besvarats genom att utföra intervjuer med leverantörer och en forskare inom CPM. En kognitiv forskningsprocess har bedrivits där en inledande diskussion har inspirerat fram forskningsfrågor som har lett vidare till att en förstudie har genomförts. Informationen ifrån denna har i sin tur lett fram till en problemdiskussion, nya forskningsfrågor och ett nytt syfte.</p><p>Fördelarna med en CPM-strategi är att man kan organisera, automatisera och analysera processer och system, detta förenar organisationens olika enheter för att kunna fatta beslut som är det bästa för organisationen som helhet och gör så att användaren kan effektivisera sin arbetsdag och få mer tid för andra viktiga arbetsuppgifter med mera. En CPM-strategi består först utav att man gör en första övergripande analys av verksamheten för att kunna ta fram en strategi. Man jobbar effektivt med taktiska och operativa frågor. Därefter utvecklas en kravspecifikation vilken inkluderar en omfattande kravanalys. Viktiga moment är intervjuer med anställda samt öppna diskussioner med personalen. Nästa moment är att CPM-strategin designas genom att verksamheten modelleras upp och arkitekturen bestäms. I nästa steg utvecklar man systemet, det finns olika lösningar att ta till sig. En lösning är att använda sig utav en lokal leverantör som erbjuder en färdig standardlösning, en annan lösning är att utveckla systemet inhouse eller outsourca till ett låglöneland. Därefter så sker själva implementationen och testningen utav strategin och då finns det ett antal steg som man följer, implementationen bygger dock mycket på erfarenheter ifrån tidigare projekt och det finns inga riktiga mallar för hur detta ska ske. Personalen utbildas därefter på nya lösningar som har utarbetats, utan denna kunskap så kommer de kanske inte att kunna använda den. Då den egna verksamheten och omvärlden förändras hela tiden så måste man hela tiden ha en grupp som stödjer underhållet utav CPM-strategin. Det mest kända Business intelligence verktyget inom CPM är Excel och det vanligaste användandet är olika rapporter.</p>

Design and Characterization of Silicon-on-Insulator Passive Polarization Converter with Finite-Element Analysis

As optical fiber systems evolve to higher data rates, the importance of polarization control and manipulation steadily increases. Polarization manipulating devices, such as polarization splitters and converters, can be realized by introducing material anisotropy or geometric asymmetry. Compared to active devices, passive polarization converters are more simply fabricated and controlled; therefore they have attracted increasing attention during the past two decades. However, materials employed in previous polarization rotating waveguides are mainly limited to low index-contrast III-V semiconductors such as InP and GaAs. Such III-V devices possess large radiation loss, large curvature loss, and low coupling efficiency to single-mode fibers; in addition, due to the weak optical confinement, the device spacing has to be large, which prevents high-density and large-scale integration in optoelectronic integrated circuits (OEIC) and planar lightwave circuits (PLC). <br /><br /> In this dissertation, the silicon-on-insulator (SOI) technology is introduced to the design and fabrication of passive polarization rotators (PR). Efficient and accurate full-vectorial finite-element eigenmode solvers as well as propagation schemes for characterizing novel SOI PRs are developed because commercial software packages based on finite-difference techniques are inefficient in dealing with arbitrary waveguide geometries. <br /><br /> A set of general design procedures are accordingly developed to design a series of slanted-angle polarization converters, regardless of the material system (SOI or III-V), outer-slab layer configuration (symmetric or asymmetric), and longitudinal loading (single- or multi-section). In particular, our normalized design charts and simple empirical formula for SOI polarization converters are applicable to a wide range of silicon-guiding-film thickness, e. g. , from 1 to 30 &mu;m, enabling fast and accurate polarization rotator design on most commercial SOI wafers. With these procedures, in principle 100% polarization conversion efficiency can be achieved by optimizing waveguide geometric parameters. <br /><br /> A novel configuration with asymmetric external waveguiding layers is proposed, which is advantageous for fabrication procedure, manufacturing tolerance, single-mode region, and conversion efficiency. By etching along the crystallographic plane, the angled-facet can be perfectly fabricated. Completely removing external waveguiding layer beside the sloped sidewall not only simplifies production procedures but also enhances fabrication tolerances. <br /><br /> To accurately and efficiently characterize asymmetric slanted-angle SOI polarization converters, adaptive mesh generation procedures are incorporated into our finite-element method (FEM) analysis. In addition, anisotropic perfectly-matched-layer (PML) boundary condition (BC) is employed in the beam propagation method (BPM) in order to effectively suppress reflections from the edges of the computation window. For the BPM algorithm, the power conservation is strictly monitored, the non-unitarity is thoroughly analyzed, and the inherent numerical dissipation is reduced by adopting the quasi-Crank-Nicholson scheme and adaptive complex reference index. <br /><br /> Advantages of SOI polarization rotators over III-V counterparts are studied through comprehensive research on power exchange, single-mode condition, fabrication tolerance, wavelength stability, bending characteristics, loss and coupling properties. The performance of SOI PRs is stable for wavelengths in the ITU-T <em>C</em>-band and <em>L</em>-band, making such devices quite suitable for DWDM applications. Due to the flexible cross-section of SOI polarization converters, the coupling loss to laser diodes and single mode fibers (SMF) can be designed to be very small and can be further reduced by a tapered waveguide with cross-sections always satisfying the single-mode criteria. Slanted-angle SOI polarization rotators display asymmetric bending characteristics and permit extremely small curvatures with negligible radiation loss when the angled-facet is located at the outer bend radius. Moreover, SOI polarization rotators can be manufactured with low-price processing techniques that are fully compatible with CMOS integrated circuits (IC) technology, and thus can be integrated on both photonic and electronic chips. <br /><br /> Experimental verifications have shown good agreement with theoretical analysis and have confirmed the promising characteristics of our novel asymmetric SOI polarization converters. Similar asymmetric-outer-slab geometry has recently been employed by peer researchers to fabricate high performance III-V polarization rotators. We therefore believe that results in this dissertation will contribute much to related research fields.

Process design in an information-intensive service delivery system : an empirical study

The objective of this thesis is to explore the design of operational processes in information-intensive service delivery systems. Empirical data is presented which builds upon existing literature within the Business Process Management (BPM) and Service Operations Management (SOM) disciplines. Adopting a theory building mode, the thesis concludes with the formulation of several research propositions which specify the design characteristics of the processes that provide the service concept to the customer. The research addresses a number of gaps in the literature. First, there is little empirical evidence concerning the relationship between the service concept, customer inputs, and process design. Second, service classification schemes promote homogeneous thinking in the design of service systems delivering diverse service concepts. Third, the BPM literature provides generic process design principles which offer limited theoretical insights into the design requirements of operational processes. Finally, there is a need for process design research in information-intensive service organisations. A research framework that integrates theoretical models addressing service process design is investigated using a single case study approach. Fieldwork was carried out over a sixteen-month period in a large electricity supplier in the UK. In contrast to the macro-orientation found within the literature, this study employs a more granular level of analysis to address the unique requirements of ‘service concept – processes’ pairs. This approach results in a number of important findings which, in several instances, are in contradiction to current thinking. First, the results empirically validate the theoretical relationship between service concept, customer inputs, and process design. Different service concepts lead to different process designs, and the more customised the service concept, the more the process is uniquely designed. Significant differences in the design of the individual processes that collectively provide the service concept to the customer are highlighted. The results also provide some new insights into the design of front office – back office activities as well as into the design characteristics of processes characterised by low customer contact. In addition, the study refutes the view that generic process design principles are universally applicable irrespective of the context in which the processes operate. Finally, the research findings show that a process-based view of service systems allows for heterogeneity; that is differences in the design of service delivery processes within the same organisation.

Adaptive Process Model Matching

Process model matchers automate the detection of activities that represent similar functionality in different models. Thus, they provide support for various tasks related to the management of business processes including model collection management and process design. Yet, prior research primarily demonstrated the matchers’ effectiveness, i.e., the accuracy and the completeness of the results. In this context (i) the size of the empirical data is often small, (ii) all data is used for the matcher development, and (iii) the validity of the design decisions is not studied. As a result, existing matchers yield a varying and typically low effectiveness when applied to different datasets, as among others demonstrated by the process model matching contests in 2013 and 2015. With this in mind, the thesis studies the effectiveness of matchers by separating development from evaluation data and by empirically analyzing the validity and the limitations of design decisions. In particular, the thesis develops matchers that rely on different sources of information. First, the activity labels are considered as natural-language descriptions and the Bag-of-Words Technique is introduced which achieves a high effectiveness in comparison to the state of the art. Second, the Order Preserving Bag-of-Words Technique analyzes temporal dependencies between activities in order to automatically configure the Bag-of-Words Technique and to improve its effectiveness. Third, expert feedback is used to adapt the matchers to the domain characteristics of process model collections. Here, the Adaptive Bag-of-Words Technique is introduced which outperforms the state-of-the-art matchers and the other matchers from this thesis.

However, traditional companies in financial, telecommunication and insurance industry struggle with the technological challenges associated with becoming customer focused enterprises. The aim of this thesis is to define the products catalogue framework, that will provide products bundling and customisation capabilities with user-friendly GUI. Therefore, the most of the work can be designed by business users without additional intensive development efforts. An Impact Assessment and Dependency Management Framework for BPM

Business Process Management (BPM) is a relatively new development paradigm that takes a high-level approach to coding by leveraging a graphical, “flow chart” aesthetic that allows users to assemble modular tasks into a larger process. The resulting diagrams effectively enshrine the organizations processes into an executable model that provides an objective and transparent view of the process and the activities contained within. In doing so, BPM models serve as both a system to guide employees through proper business procedures as well as documentation of the businesses processes. Similar to most other software development environments, BPM development platforms possess several features intended to address the needs of code versioning, dependency management and impact assessment. However, due to the unique way that development is done in BPM platforms, the more traditional functionality of these features sometimes renders them ineffective and ill suited to the task of BPM development. Changes to lower level reusable components in these BPM models can result in impacts to diverse processes across an organization that are difficult to predict and onerous to locate. There is much room for improvement in BPM development tools. This thesis proposes a new framework for dependency management and impact assessment to improve the usability, effectiveness and efficiency. The framework is composed of a Business Process Component Architecture, a Dependency Data Model and an Upgrade Algorithm which are all used to provide increased visibility over dependent processes and superior guidance during upgrade operations. Several example case scenarios are be used to evaluate our proposed framework. The cases represent progressive degrees of complexity to test the capabilities and robustness of the framework. Overall, the framework was able to appropriately handle the case examples used and showed promise in terms of providing practical effort, time and cost savings for BPM developers. The framework can also provide developers assistance in locating circular dependencies, but is subject to the same limitations as developers when attempting to upgrade these relationships.

Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) est en train de devenir le standard le plus utilisé pour la modélisation de processus métiers. Une des principales améliorations de BPMN 2.0 par rapport à BPMN 1.2 est le fait que les objets de données comportent maintenant des éléments sémantiques. Toutefois, BPMN ne permet pas la représentation des mesures de la performance dans le cadre de l'interopérabilité liée aux échanges de données. Ceci représente une lacune dans l'utilisation de BPMN quand on veut représenter les problèmes entrainés par un manque d'interopérabilité dans les processus métiers. Nous proposons d'étendre le méta-modèle Meta-Object Facility meta-model et le XML Schema Definition de BPMN ainsi que sa représentation graphique dans le but de combler ce manque. L'extension, nommée performanceMeasurement, est définie en utilisant le mécanisme d'extension de BPMN. Ce nouvel élément permettra de représenter les mesures de performance dans le cadre de problèmes d'interopérabilité ainsi que dans celui où ces problèmes ont été résolus. L'utilisation de cette extension est illustrée dans un cas d'étude industriel réel. / Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) is being becoming the most used standard for business process modelling. One of the important upgrades of BPMN 2.0 with respect to BPMN 1.2 is the fact that Data Objects are now handling semantic elements. Nevertheless, BPMN doesn't enable the representation of performance measurement in the case of interoperability problems in the exchanged data object, which remains a limitation when using BPMN to express interoperability issues in enterprise processes. We propose to extend the Meta-Object Facility meta-model and the XML Schema Definition of BPMN as well as the notation in order to fill this gap. The extension, named performanceMeasurement, is defined using the BPMN Extension Mechanism. This new element will allow to represent performance measurement in the case of interoperability problems as well as interoperability concerns which have been solved. We illustrate the use of this extension with an example from a real industrial case.

Inicialmente é apresentado um estudo do panorama da construção civil e da gestão de processos construtivos no Brasil. Em seguida o trabalho ressalta a importância dos processos de negócio para as organizações e apresenta a disciplina BPM com suas principais características. Posteriormente, são discutidos conceitos e métodos que são fundamentais para aplicação do BPM como: gestão de indicadores, redução de desperdícios com a produção e construção enxuta e notação de modelagem. Com base na metodologia de Design Science Research, estes conceitos são utilizados para propor um método de intervenção. O método proposto é aplicado por meio de intervenção em uma empresa que atua na construção de casas populares no estado de Goiás dentro do programa do governo federal minha casa minha vida. Os resultados obtidos são confrontados com os fatores críticos de sucessos para iniciativas de BPM e apontam para a viabilidade do uso do método proposto possibilitando constatar a aplicação da gestão de processos de negócio em um ambiente real de negócios da construção civil, envolvendo a liderança da organização e os atores dos processos.
