The Impact Of Advanced Placement (ap) Participation And Success On School-wide Student AchievementChristiansen, David 01 January 2009 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to investigate two research questions concerning: (a) the relationship between the percentage of students within a high school who participated in the Advanced Placement program and the school-wide student achievement of a high school and (b) the relationship between the percentage of students within a high school who successfully performed in the Advanced Placement program and the school-wide student achievement of the high school. It was determined in this study that there was a statistically significant relationship between Advanced Placement (AP) student participation and school-wide student achievement and there was a statistically significant relationship between AP student performance and school-wide student achievement in public high schools in the state of Florida in the 2007-2008 school year. Additionally, information was provided for policymakers and practitioners regarding the impact of Advanced Placement on school-wide achievement and the impact on students outside the AP program. While AP participation and AP performance correlated with school-wide achievement, when the population and data were disaggregated into the most affluent, middle-income, and poorest schools, the results changed. For the poorest schools, there was no relationship between AP participation and school-wide student achievement. In the middle income and most affluent schools, however, there was a statistically significant relationship between AP participation and school-wide student achievement. Additional confirmation that Advanced Placement, as part of the overall curriculum, had a significant impact on school-wide student achievement was provided. Further research is necessary to understand the implications of the AP program on schools of various socioeconomic levels.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration Methodologies in Art, Design and MediaEarnshaw, Rae A., Liggett, S., Heald, K. January 2013 (has links)
No / Collaboration in art, design and media has traditionally taken place in the studio. Recent
experiments in collaboration and interaction have sought to identify the factors that promote
productive and creative collaboration and those that do not. It is clear that virtual
collaboration mediated by computer networks can include many of the elements that
characterise face to face collaboration. This also facilitates international collaboration just as
easily as national and local ones. At the same time, digital convergence is producing
environments and artefacts that blur the traditional distinctions between art and technology,
and which give rise to new creative opportunities and new kinds of creative works. These are
described in this paper and their significance is explored. These also cause further reflections
on the contributions that science can make to art and vice-versa.

Westminster Township: A Regional StudyAnderson, Sigurds 04 1900 (has links)
No abstract provided. / Thesis / Bachelor of Arts (BA) / Introduction: The study attempts to explain the geographical conditions in Westminster Township. Emphasis is placed on the relationship existing between the township and the city of London, the large metropolitan centre adjacent to it. The problem is attacked from a functional point of view. The physical geography of the township is described. However, since historical forces are recognized in any study of settlement, one chapter is devoted to historical geography. The following chapters are devoted to communications and land use patterns, both rural and urban. The thesis is changing interrelationship, between the city and the township. It shows clearly that the city does not terminate at its political boundary, but encroaches upon the adjacent rural township. The result is a change in the character of the township in the shape of an "Urban Fringe" specialized agriculture and new super imposition of communications.

How do we value others’ personality traits? : A Quantitative Study on Rating of Personality Traits Related to Introversion and Extraversion and How It Associates with Our Own PersonalityLillström Stenroos, Kevin January 2022 (has links)
This study was based on The Big Five theoretical framework with focus on the extraversion factor, and its purpose was to assess how we value introverted and extraverted personality traits. A hypothesis was that ratings of extraversion-related adjectives would be higher than ratings of introversion-related adjectives. Another hypothesis was established to test if the ratings would differ between genders. The study included sixty-three participants (Age M = 23, SD = 3,6; 37 females; 26 males) who rated adjective words related to personality traits on the spectrum of introversion and extraversion on a Likert scale from one through seven. Results showed that extraversion related adjectives were rated higher than introversion adjectives and in terms of gender, males did not differ in their ratings of introversion and extraversion adjectives, however, females rated extraversion higher than introversion. In addition to considering personality adjectives as positive or negative, participants also answered the 20-Item Mini IPIP personality test, to explore whether our preference can be associated with our own personality. Results showed that the ratings of extraverted personality adjectives had a significant positive correlation with the extraversion factor in the IPIP, and the ratings for introverted adjectives showed a negative correlation, however it did not remain significant after a Bonferroni correction.
