Para tanto, a mimese literária tem na experiência vivencial a verossimilhança que torna possível a apreensão da obra literária como fenômeno interpretativo. Nesse processo de composição, o gênero literário converte-se no conjunto de convenções que o autor se vale para fazer-se inteligível a seu público. As narrativas bíblicas e, em especial, o Evangelho Segundo São Mateus, possuem elementos que permitem sua leitura como obras literárias próprias da Antiguidade, cujas estratégias narrativas se mostram construtoras de representação verossímil da realidade. Para tanto, o narrador do Evangelho Segundo São Mateus utilizou-se daquelas convenções que se conformavam ao horizonte de expectativas de seu público e que articulam experiências advindas da literatura greco-romana e da literatura judaica. No caso da Paixão de Cristo Segundo São Mateus, o narrador empreende um conjunto de estratégias narrativas que favorecem sua condução da leitura da narrativa de acordo com sua perspectiva. Nesse processo, vale-se de uma estrutura que combina a biografia greco-romana àquela já consagrada na literatura bíblica. Dessa forma, a Paixão de Cristo nos é apresentada como parte final da história, numa perspectiva paradigmática e, ao mesmo tempo, como realização das Escrituras, que figuram e profetizam a respeito de Jesus e a natureza redimensionadora e universalizadora da salvação.

Therefore, mimesis has in literary life experience verisimilitude that makes it possible to grasp the literary phenomenon as interpretive. In the process of composition, the literary genre becomes the set of conventions that the author uses to make himself intelligible to his audience. Biblical narratives and in particular, the Gospel According to St. Matthew, have elements that allow their own reading as literary works of antiquity, whose narrative strategies are shown construction of believable representation of reality. To this end, the narrator of the Gospel According to St. Matthew used those conventions that conformed to the horizon of expectations of your audience and articulate experiences arising from the Greco-Roman literature and Jewish literature. In the case of Christs Passion According to St. Matthew, the narrator undertakes a set of narrative strategies that favor its conduct of reading the narrative according to your perspective. In this process, it is a structure that combines the Greco-Roman biography to that already established in biblical literature. Thus, the Passion of Christ is presented as the final part of the story, a paradigmatic perspective and at the same time as carrying out the Scriptures, that appear and prophesy about Jesus and resizeing and universalizing nature of salvation. / A literatura é um tipo de conhecimento que faz uso da palavra com a finalidade de projetar realidades possíveis. This master thesis presents the character of Job and his reception in German-speaking literature on the basis of three works of the twentieth century, written by Joseph Roth, Oskar Kokoschka and Günter Kunert. The starting point for the literary reception is the biblical Old Testament book Job, whose story, form and circumstances of origin are mentioned in the first part of the work. Following are the performances of individual authors and the interpretation of their works. The core of the work is a comparison of literary reception of the figure of Job in the texts with a biblical original. The subject of the study was, in particular, the question of how the selected authors deal with the biblical substance, how they use Job for their works and which meaning have the comic elements in their texts.

The history of the Bluefield bible program 1939-1989

The United States has had an interesting and full history of debate over the place of religion in the public schools and each state has had its own unique history on the same subject. Religion/Bible saturated the typical public school in western Virginia before 1863. After West Virginia became a state, the saturation of religion/Bible gradually lessened, producing concern among some citizens. In 1917, the State adopted a direct plan for outside Bible study to incorporate elective Bible study class. Since 1935, however, there is no record of any statewide promotion of religion/Bible in the schools. In 1939 Bluefield, Mercer County, West Virginia, submitted a request to and received approval from the State Board of Education to offer Bible classes in its schools. Adjustments have been made to the program due to judicial or committee decisions. Some of these adjustments have been prompted by national and local controversy over religion/Bible in the public schools. Nevertheless, the existing Bible program has been sustained as a result of its location, community support, and dynamic leaders. The purpose of this study is two-fold: 1) to identify and describe the impact various influences such as the co-founders, the community, and the first teachers, had on the Bluefield Bible Program which contributed to its continued existence to this day; and 2) to create an accurate record of the history and proceedings of the Bluefield Bible Program. / Ed. The management of pedagogic change in contemporary orthodox Jewish schooling

The study investigated how a pedagogic change process is managed by the divergent Haredi and Modern Orthodox streams of Orthodox Jewish schooling. Its literature study looked at the classical forms of historic Jewish pedagogy and how they have adapted to internal and external dynamics. It also examined how contemporary Orthodox schooling, specifically, is an amalgam of a variety of responses, reactions and adaptations to the radically changed landscape of modernity. The influence of the modern student profile was examined along with the affects of the inclusion of secular studies into the modern Jewish syllabus. The appropriateness of new interactive methods and technologies and the specialized teacher training they require were also explored. A qualitative study of the expert opinions of six contemporary experts was conducted and thematically analyzed along with an analysis of material from two file-sharing websites. <p>Inferno constitutes a turning point in Strindberg's literary production in that scriptural quotations appear more frequently and a new style emerges. This thesis presents the characteristics of the scriptural quotations appearing in Inferno (1897) and Jacob Wrestles (a fragment following Légendes, written in French and in Swedish in 1898). Comparative, discourse, textual and intertextual approaches are used to define the place and role of scriptural quotations in this literary corpus.</p><p>From a historical point of view, both novels are part of the religious history of late 19th century France, where religion played a more important role than during the scientific, rationalist era characterizing the preceding decades. Strindberg adopts a new style corresponding to the spirit of his time. The art of "quoting the Bible at random" is a rhapsodic style, which appears mainly in Strindberg’s correspondence, in his Occult Diary (writings contemporary with Inferno) and in the work of some French 19th century writers. This style originates, above all, in the occult tradition, but it is also a means of imitating the Bible and identifying with a prophetic figure.</p><p>The research discussed in this dissertation has made it possible to determine, for the first time, what Bible translations are used in the two novels by Strindberg (translations by Ostervald and Martin / Roques). Five different types of rewritings of quotations were found: omissions, cutting of verses, substitutions, typographical changes and inversions. These variations were aimed at harmonising the Biblical text and the Strindbergian text, while removing contextual and theological elements that bothered the writer. The discourse analysis has concentrated on the quotations viewed as reported speech, distinguishing different ways of introducing Biblical verses in the novel. It was found that the narrator's subjectivity is present in the comments leading up to the quotations. The polyphonic character of some quotations has stressed the importance of identification play between the narrator and certain quotations characters such as Christ, Job and the psalmist.</p><p>The intertextual analysis has revealed a large number of similarities in the scriptural quotations in the literary production of Strindberg, Swedenborg and French 19th century literature. It is shown that Inferno contains various quotations that appear in Occult Diary and in other writers’ works, such as those of Swedenborg, Péladan, Zola, Huysmans and Chateaubriand. Jacob Wrestles, on the other hand, does not include as many intertextual elements but instead reassembles many scriptural quotations that were underlined in the Bible translation used for this novel: La Sainte Bible, Ostervald's translation from 1890, which can be found in Blå Tornet (The Strindberg Museum in Stockholm). Strindberg is consequently recycling Biblical material when he writes Inferno, while resorting to the French Bible of Ostervald from 1890 to write Jacob Wrestles.</p><p>The quotations strewn in Inferno constitute a crescendo and reveal the narrator’s unsuccessful attempt at conversion, at the same time forming the structure of a complaint psalm in which the narrator cries out his suffering and awaits liberation. In the French text of Jacob Wrestles, the writer offers a package of scriptural quotations in order to identify the narrator as "a religious man", imploring God's mercy like Moses and Job. In the Swedish text of Jacob Wrestles, a new perspective is introduced as a result of the change in language, the change from Old to New Testament, the new spiritual disposition of the narrator and the sudden intrusion of the writer in the narrator’s space. The role of scriptural quotations in the entire fragment of Jacob Wrestles is a true linguistic, thematic and theological revolution, which accounts for the narrator's extraordinary religious evolution. The misery of the narrator in Inferno allows a ray of Christian hope, which will persist in Strindbergs’s literary production post-Inferno.</p>

Divided into two parts, this study includes first, an approach around the literary criticism, which has been focusing on the relationship between the biblical text and the universe of literary studies. Of the number of experts who have devoted their lives to studying it, we have selected two important names of the literary criticism international in the 20th century, that have stood on this interaction in perspective that we can say of complementary and rhizomatic as the postulates of epistemology proposed by Gilles Deleuz and Félix Guattari. They are the Canadian Northrop Frye and the American Harold Bloom. Of both, the latter is the one that more intensely established the dialog between the Jewish-Christian book and the Literature. From the intriguing conclusions of these theorists, we opened for a second time that establishes the relationship between the thoughts of these experts, with emphasis in Bloom, and the lusophone fiction of three Romanesque clippings: A mulher que escreveu a Bíblia, by Moacyr Scliar; Caim, by José Saramago and Grande sertão: veredas, by João Guimarães Rosa. These works are analyzed in inter-textual dialogs with other literary representations national and international, that include the relationship between the Bible and the Literature in an approach of hypertextuality of conceptualization by Gerard Genette, that in turn converses with considerations of Linda Hutcheon alluding to studies on the parody. As a methodology, we are employing the bibliographic research relating to the object of research relevant to the thesis. As a result of our research, we conclude that there is a plentiful cartography, that this work is an example, which contradict the existence of biblical-literary rhizome, which leads to the proposition that the Bible, one of the most important artistic codes of Western culture, it is a work that can be seen as a literary piece as advocates Harold Bloom, without prejudice of the rhizome that links it to the religiosity, working as one of the most intrigu ing hypo-texts of Western Literature, which can also be researched on a level of high erudition in his hypertextuality. / A presente tese objetiva apresentar, numa perspectiva epist emológica e ficcional, a relação entre a Bíblia e a Literatura. Dividido em duas partes, este estudo contempla primeiramente uma abordagem em torno da crítica literária que tem se debruçado sobr e a relação entre o texto biblista e o universo dos estudos literários. Do conjunto de estudiosos que se dedicaram a estudá-la, pinçamos dois importantes nomes da crítica literária internacional no século XX que se detiveram sobre esta interação em perspectiva que se pode dizer complementar e rizomática, conforme os postulados da epistemologia proposta por Gilles Deleuze e Félix Guattari. São eles o canadense Northrop Frye e o norte-americano Harold Bloom. De ambos, Harold Bloom é o que mais intensamente estabeleceu o diálogo entre o livro judaico -cristão e a Literatura. A partir das instigantes ilações destes teóricos, abrimo s para um segundo momento que estabelece a relação entre o pensamento desses estudiosos, com ênfase em Bloom, e a ficcionalidade lusófona de três recortes romanescos: A mulher que escreveu a Bíblia, de Moacyr Scliar; Caim, de José Saramago e Grande sertão: veredas, de João Guimarães Rosa. Estas obras são analisadas em diálogos intertextuais com outras representações literárias nac ionais e internacionais que contemplam a relação entre a Bíblia e a Literatura numa abordagem de hipertextualidade da conceituação de Gérard Genette, que por sua vez dialoga com as considerações de Linda Hutcheon alusivas aos estudos sobre a paródia. Como metodologia, servimo -nos da pesquisa bibliográfica relativa ao objeto de pesquisa pertinente à tese. Como resultado de nossa pesquisa, chegamos à conclusão de que há uma farta cartografia, de que este trabalho constitui um exemplo, que referenda a existência do rizoma bíblico-literário, o que conduz à proposição de que a Bíblia, um dos mais importantes códigos artísticos da cultura Ocidental, é uma obra que pode ser vista como uma peça literária, como advoga Harold Bloom, sem prejuízo algum do rizoma que a vincula à religiosidade, funcionando como um dos mais instigantes hipotextos da Literatura no Ocidente, passível de ser também pesquisado em um nível de alta erudição em sua hipertextualidade.
