Kniha v prostoru / The Book in Space

Valášková, Kateřina January 2012 (has links)
This final work is focused on the space and light and its screening by the medium of the venetian blinds which are used to separate inner and outer space. This instalation made with 5 Venetian blinds is a parallel to the book. The object is in a form of the hexagon space. It mirrors surrounding story and closes it in the pages by the mirror film. The text is called Chronicle of the melancholy and indicates the intimite of the space of book. Between lines there is a penetration of the space and light behind the pages.

Transbordar as margens da própria pesquisa, desenhar passagens com as escritas tecidas / Abstract: Objects and affects proposes the creation of an book object composed of three notebooks drafting, between written and materialities, the possibility of a drawing-research. A proposal to invent with the work Vinte e um veleiros (Twenty-one sailboats) (undated), of Brazilian artist Arthur Bispo do Rosário (1909-1989), ways of inhabiting the objects and the world. Tracing also in Bispo presence at Thirtieth Biennial of São Paulo - the imminence of the poetic (2012) the set of problems involving the critical and cultural divulgation of the visual arts. Art and madness: words that make up a figure-Bispo outlining the attempts of criticism, from biographies and bibliographies, to decipher his personality, find in his work and objects possible narratives that determine them upon a commitment with the representation of an internal and personal world. This research comes from uneasiness about this model with criticism and cultural diffusion which deal with the feats of the visual arts. Paper, line and word are the materials with which this research aims to overflow the banks of the wording tying artist and work, and draw passages to habitants, other, between senses and sensations that move the conditions that stabilize the existence of objects. A proposal to draw, in the roll of that object-book, possibilities where sailboats, as compounds of sensations, can stand alone, independent of determinations which fix them to some identity, temporality or territoriality given. Investigate the gaps, passages, vents on objects; lives that can happen at the meeting of the unexpected and unknown lines that draw the pages of notebooks. Try taking the drawing as a research procedure, in which the word becomes matter of experimentation, and reading / writing remain as gestures sketching passages through which it is possible to perceive / enhance a mysterious immensity that crosses the materiality of objects ¿ affections, white, empty, silences, (un)speakable... A tentative of a drawing-research that want, with the composition of these notebooks, undressing objects in a conversation in which their materiality can tell us of unspeakable secrets by words, or dripping fragments of texts by/ between gaps, textures, plasticity... Dry meanings in the possibility of composing another life with writing and the materiality of things. A desire to scour ways of inhabiting a range of possibilities, between affects, objects and words that compose this book object. Les signes en jeu : surgissement et opacification dans les créations poétiques et plastiques de Ghérasim Luca / Signs at stake : emergence and opacification in Ghérasim Luca’s poetic and plastic creations

Orlandi, Sibylle 06 November 2015 (has links)
This work questions the different practices of Ghérasim Luca (book-objects, albums, portfolios, booklets, pamphlet-poems, poster-poems, scenic and audiovisual recitals, cubomanies, drawings) in light of the semiotic experiences they initiate. Asserting that signs are at stake means insisting on the material and highly perceptible dimension of both production and reception. From the moment that signs are perceived as bodies (audible bodies, graphic and typographic bodies) by other bodies, the question of meaning is linked to the question of medium. With the notion of emergence, we can analyse spatial phenomena, linked to theatrical ones, such as appearance and disappearance : the white page, the audiotape, the screen, the wooden panels are places where an embodied thinking can arise and expand. The notion of opacification, which is used by linguists to describe metadiscursive phenomena, can be reconsidered and redefined : we try to exceed the verbal domain and to adopt a global semiotic perspective, which includes non-verbal matters. This study is composed of four interdependent parts, which show the interpenetration of historical, semiotic, linguistic, mediologic, stylistic but also scientific and philosophical approaches. The first part explores the plastic, graphic and audio creations of Ghérasim Luca, including collaborations with several artists in Romania and France. The second part identifies what we could call a linguistic imaginary, fuelled by three different traditions (Lucretius’ atomism, alchemy, Kabbalah), which considers void as a founding principle, and writing as a layout. This imaginary, which inquires the possibility of thinking about language within the language, is playfully held at a distance by Ghérasim Luca : the point is not to adopt a theory, but to circulate freely between apparently incompatible approaches. The third part describes various phenomena of meaning disruption and focuses on the specific status given to autonyms, neologisms and proper nouns in his French period : the different kinds of semiotic troubles and the invention of a lexicon beyond the lexicon take part in the destabilisation process. The fourth part is about the activity of re-creation, which takes several forms, including collage and ‘détournement’.
