Med handen på hjärtat och kniven mot strupen : En kvalitativ undersökning av de svenska bokningsbolagens verklighet / A qualitative study of Swedish booking agencies

Gatu, Olle, Säll, Martin January 2010 (has links)

This study focuses on the booking agencies in Sweden and their point of view on the reality with a focal point from the mass media perspective, which says that they have become rather wealthy because of the changes within the music business. The mass media describes the booking agencies situation as golden because of the economical and technological changes that more or less have paralysed the record industry. The study is performed with a qualitative approach and is based on interviews with relevant individuals from eight different Swedish booking agencies. These individuals have been chosen to match as many different segments in the booking agency business as possible. On account of the qualitative approach it is difficult to generalize the conclusion of the study. We have nevertheless noted some tendencies that the technological development has had a strong impact on the everyday situations for the booking agencies. These will be presented in chapter five.

Makten hos en tredje part : En studie om bokningskanalernas inflytande på små hotell

Franzén, Julia, Sevelin, Amy January 2017 (has links)
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to gain in-depth understanding of the influence of booking channels in the hotel sector on the small hotel's organization. Method: The essay is based on a qualitative multidirectional study conducted with 6 semistructured interviews as a data collection method. Previous research: To give the reader an idea of the subject, previous research and studies summarize the influence of booking channels on hotels in this section. The research lies with the theory section as the basis for the final analysis. Theory: The theory deals with two-sided networks in a platform theory to create understanding of the relationship between users and the platform. The section also discusses two businessmodels, B2B and B2B2C, which describe the business process traditionally and how it developed in line with e-commerce. Empiria: The Empiria section begins with a presentation of the 6 cases investigated and these lected respondents interviewed. The hotels that participated in the survey are Lydmar Hotel, Hellsten Hotels, Mälardrottningen, Sky Hotel Apartments, Hotell Hansson and Hotell Anonym. Finally, the respondents' responses are summarized and linked to the themes identified during the course of data collection. Findings: The results of the study indicate that the major booking channels have a big influence on small hotels but that they contributed to the opportunity for the small hotels to market globally and therefore receive higher occupancy rates than before. The booking channels have also played an important part in Stockholm's destination development.

Committed to Exercise : A qualitative study on the persuasive effect and potential of a gym’s online booking system / Schemalagd träning : En kvalitativ studie av ett gyms digitala bokningssystem och dess effekt på användares träningsvanor och motivation

Löthman, Anna, Liljeblad, Malin January 2021 (has links)
While physical activity has many important benefits on our health and well-being, many people find it hard to establish and maintain long-lasting exercise routines. Technology can be an effective tool to combat this issue by increasing users’ motivation to exercise and encouraging them to make healthier choices. In this qualitative study, we explored the persuasive effect and potential of an online booking system (OBS) implemented in a gym in the South West of United Kingdom to limit the amount of people in the facilities during the Covid-19 pandemic. The purpose of our research was to examine gym members’ experiences of the system, how it had impacted their motivation to exercise, and to explore how their experiences could be used in a digital system aiming to promote regular gym-use and long-lasting exercise routines. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews, carried out with five gym members. The results demonstrate that all informants had ambivalent feelings towards the OBS, with both positive and negative attitudes towards the system. Three key findings were identified. First, the system forced the users to adapt their exercise routines and daily activities in general to its new constraints which, in some instances, reduced their motivation to exercise. Second, the activity of booking and scheduling gym sessions gave the users a sense of commitment and determination, which increased their motivation to adhere to their planned exercise regime. Third, the users experienced the increased familiarity in the gym as a positive outcome of the OBS. Based on the empirical findings, we proposed a set of recommended features and three key components which can be beneficial to include in a digital system aiming to increase gym user’s motivation to exercise, and that could come of use to designers developing interactive systems for gym settings.

CarGo : A Decentralized Protocol for Booking and Payment in Car-Sharing Systems

Kotsias, Aristotelis-Antonios January 2023 (has links)
Sharing commodities such as vehicles and houses in exchange for a fee has become very popular in the recent years. Companies such as Uber and Airbnb are two examples where their users can rent their underutilized assets for a period of time. This approach relies in the need of a trusted and centralized third party service provider which introduces security and privacy risks. Specifically, users’ personal data can be collected and misused by the service provider while at the same time the system is more vulnerable to a Distributed Denial of Service attack. In this thesis, a protocol namely CarGo, is presented and aims to allow car owners to rent their cars in a decentralized, secure and private way. Furthermore, this thesis presents a Proof-of-Concept on the Ethereum, Arbitrum and Optimism blockchains where a Solidity smart contract is utilized for automatic execution of car booking and payment functionalities. The solution ensures security and privacy of the booking details and offers safeguards against malicious behavior. Furthermore, with the deployment of the smart contract in layer two blockchain solutions the transactional fees have been greatly reduced.

Examining the relationship between the “real world” adoption of digital health tools and primary care experience

Pasat, Zain January 2022 (has links)
Background: Patient experience is a crucial measure of patient-centeredness and quality care delivery. Digital health may contribute to patient experience by offering tailored and accessible avenues of care. Purpose: I explored how access to digital health, including telehealth, electronic health records, and online booking, may be associated with improved primary care experience for Ontario adults. Methods: This cross-sectional study included Ontario adults (16 years or older) who responded to waves 27 to 29 of the Health Care Experience Survey (HCES) between May 2019 and February 2020. Adults who did not see their primary care provider within the past 12 months or did not have a primary care provider were excluded. Outcomes included a summed patient experience score derived from five HCES experience-related questions and time to appointment for a health concern. Associations between outcomes and digital health interventions were tested through chi-square tests and logistic regression while adjusting for confounders and stratifying by health care utilization. Results: 3,700 participants met the inclusion criteria, where 2204 remotely communicated with their primary care provider (59.6%), 98 digitally accessed health records (2.6%), and 120 booked an appointment online (3.2%). We observed no significant associations between digital health tools and patient experience or time to appointments through chi-square tests. Participants with over three primary care visits in the past year who accessed online booking were 84% less likely to report poorer experience scores than participants without online booking access [Adjusted OR 0.16, 95% CI 0.02 – 0.56, p < 0.05]. Participants with three or fewer primary care encounters who accessed online booking, compared to the same reference group, were 72% less likely to report having a same or next day appointment with their primary care provider [Adjusted OR 0.25, 95% CI 0.08 – 0.64, p < 0.01]. Significant associations were observed between other sociodemographic factors and patient experience and access to care outcomes. Interpretation: The associations between digital health access and patient experience and access to care were inconsistent across different analyses. Despite experimental studies observing the benefits of digital health adoption in primary care, the effect is unclear in the real-world context. Furthermore, drawing conclusions on the relationship between digital health and quality care outcomes was limited due to the lack of adoption of digital health before the COVID-19 pandemic. As digital health adoption grows, future research should utilize the availability of further data to evaluate the effectiveness of digital health in Ontario primary care. / Thesis / Master of Science (MSc) / Patient outcomes such as experience and timeliness of care are frequently viewed as aims of quality health care. Although past studies indicate digital health supports quality care, the real-world effectiveness of digital health is underexplored in Ontario. This thesis aimed to explore relationships between real-world use of digital health in Ontario and primary care experience and access using survey data. This study found very few survey respondents used digital health before the COVID-19 pandemic. The primary care experience and access to care of adults who did use digital health did not differ very much from adults who did not use the technology. Some outcomes differed in adults who booked their primary care appointment online compared to those who did not; however, the study could not conclude on the relationship. Other personal factors such as age and residence area impacted the quality of primary care. This study was limited due to the lack of digital health users. Future studies should explore digital health's impact on patient outcomes beyond the pandemic.

Room management system : Integrating Raspberry Pi with Graph API

Parsa, Parnia, Hedlund, Björn January 2019 (has links)
The increase in connectivity and use of “smart” devices offers companies new possibilities to improve their efficiency by using digitalization. For example, booking of meeting rooms have gone from using a paper calendar to electronic booking. To enable both digital remote booking, as well as being able to book a room directly (as with a paper calendar) this project has developed a room manager system. The room manager is a device that provides a quick and intuitive way for employees to handle conference room booking. The project was started on behalf of the company ÅF, who would like to optimize their use of conference rooms. The result was a fully functional touchscreen device built using a Raspberry Pi. The room manager integrates successfully with the existing calendar system used at ÅF and meets all the requirements set by ÅF. The device will be used to determine if a room manager system is worth investing in and may be used as a foundation for continued development.
