Doodle Processing System Using Cinder Graphics and Bullet Physics

Wen, Zhang January 2013 (has links)
This Master Thesis proposes a implementation for a doodle system which can scan hand drawn paper doodles using camera into the system and obtain a painting based on doodles impacting on a canvas in the system. The doodles which are scanned into the system are applied physical effects such as collisions and forces on. The implementation is supported by Cinder Library and Bullet Physics Library The Cinder used in this thesis is an open source C++ library developed by The Barbarian Group. The doodle system uses multiple draw methods and the framework provided by Cinder to build graphic components and a new system in a quick and efficient way. The Bullet Physics Library used in this thesis is a professional open source library for physics simulations. The Bullet is integrated into the doodle system as a component which perform physics simulations on doodles.

An Overview of Body Armor and Single Plate Impact Dynamics

Matzinger, Thomas 01 February 2018 (has links)
In the past, personal body armor was constructed of simple plates of high- strength alloys. However, with the advancement of modern combat and weaponry, particularly armor-piercing ammunition, personal body armor has evolved into more complex and effective metal, ceramic, and composite structures. This paper lays the groundwork for experimental and modeling methods used to understand the effectiveness of new armor designs. Focusing on the first layer of modern body armor, the ”High Impedance” layer. Experiments measuring the change in velocity of bullets passing through aluminum and titanium plates were conducted. These experiments were then replicated through FEA simulation.

Rigid Body Physics for Synthetic Data Generation

Edhammer, Jens January 2016 (has links)
For synthetic data generation with concave collision objects, two physics simu- lations techniques are investigated; convex decomposition of mesh models for globally concave collision results, used with the physics simulation library Bullet, and a GPU implemented rigid body solver using spherical decomposition and impulse based physics with a spatial sorting-based collision detection. Using the GPU solution for rigid body physics suggested in the thesis scenes con- taining large amounts of bodies results in a rigid body simulation up to 2 times faster than Bullet 2.83.

Rakt in i hjärtat med en Silver Bullet : Hur @sportamore blir vänner med sina twitterföljare

Staversjö, Jenny, Namnori, Anna January 2015 (has links)
Lots of corporations use Twitter in their marketing - but fail to succeed. This essay´s purpose is to illuminate a corporation that is positioned as an e-commerce company, which uses Twitter to its full potential and thereby creating friendships with their followers. This is a qualitative study based on a dialogic analysis of the interaction on Twitter to and from the account @sportamore during the years 2010, 2012 and 2014. This study shows how corporations can use dialogic strategies on Twitter to create value and relations with their followers. It also shows that relations, or friendship, leads to that followers are continually marketing Sportamore within tweets and in interaction with others. Twitter with its primary purpose of developing relations becomes a Silver Bullet for marketers when Twitters not about making economic profit. This study does not have the purpose to search for weaknesses in the communication of Sportamore on Twitter. In order to the fact that marketing and public relations are re-shaping and its harder for corporations to reach trough the clutter of campaigns, social media and marketing – relationship building is important in today´s marketing efforts.

De la planche à la page. Pierre Bullet et l’architecture en France sous Louis XIV / From the drawing board to the page. Pierre Bullet and architecture in France under Louis XIV

Hernu-Bélaud, Juliette 05 December 2015 (has links)
The fortune of every architect who lived and worked in Jules Hardouin-Mansart’s shadow seems to be reversed only by the gradual rise of monographs devoted to them. Here is the prior aim of this essay. Pierre Bullet appears to be one of those oversights whose role seems hard to capture. However, through his constructive work, other activities and his Architecture pratique does he testifies to an evolution in the ways of both seeing and doing architecture, as in the constructive habits. This study is directed at defining and explaining this evolution while seizing Bullet’s place in it. It splits in three parts. First we review the constructed work, then outline the categories and specifications of the inventing process by the study of the many drawings preserved at the National Museum of Stockholm. At last Bullet’s major writing, the Architecture pratique, is explored both as itself and as a testament of the normalization process in progress at the end of 17th century. This essay is complemented by several tools and documents: one volume of appendix containing transcripts of unpublished writings of Bullet; a catalogue of works; a catalogue of drawings gathering all papers attributed to Bullet kept at the National Museum of Stockholm; a cumulative and critical edition of the Architecture pratique.

An interpretive study of the contingent use of systems development methodologies in the telecommunications industry / Z. Coetzee

Coetzee, Ziaén January 2010 (has links)
The telecommunication industry is dominating the world. Most recently there have been technological advancements made in mobile telecommunication. There are currently a few telecommunication organizations in South Africa. These organizations each have their own unique approach to service delivery. The strong competitive nature of the telecommunication industry is taking telecommunications in South Africa to greater heights. All these advancements necessitate the need for better security and controls of the telecommunications networks. RICA legislation was brought into effect to accomplish just this. The research focuses on the contingent use of systems development methodologies in the telecommunication industry in South Africa. The study determines how these telecommunication organizations choose a systems development methodology when developing systems. This study looks at how these organizations are currently implementing system development methodologies to keep up with the changes and competition within the industry. An interpretive approach was used to conduct the research. Four of the leading telecommunication organizations in South Africa were studied by using case studies. Each case study focused on a single telecommunication organization to gain in depth data regarding the use of systems development methodologies. The case studies were conducted by using structured interviews to gain data from multiple sources within the organizations. The data was analyzed using ATLAS.ti and a cross case analysis was done to answer the research questions. The results indicate that there is a contingent use of systems development methodologies within telecommunication organizations. The telecommunication organizations each use criteria to determine which systems development methodology to use. The results of the study indicate that there are different levels of contingency, and it examines how this is accomplished by each organization individually. Each of the organizations has a unique approach when selecting systems development methodologies. The systems development methodologies that are used by the telecommunication organizations are also tailored in some cases. / Thesis (M.Sc. A model for selecting serious games for the computer science class / Johan Willem Prinsloo

Prinsloo, Johan Willem January 2014 (has links)
Serious games have the potential to add value to the teaching and learning environment but are currently not used to its full potential in the Computer Science class. Many reasons why serious games are not used are debated in the literature and a particular problem identified from the literature is that educators find it difficult to select appropriate serious games for use in the classroom environment. The research philosophy adopted for this study included the Critical Social Theory paradigm and action research as the research method. The five phases of the action research process, namely diagnosing, action planning, action taking, evaluating and specifying learning were used to provide educators with a useful model to help with the selection of serious games for the Computer Science class. During the diagnosing phase, the problem for this study was identified and a questionnaire was used to determine educators‘ perceptions of serious games that confirmed the problem identified during the literature survey. During the action planning phase the evaluation of three serious game selection models, namely the four-dimensional framework, the RETAIN model and the Magic Bullet model were planned. Participants were provided with a checklist in the form of tables so that they could familiarise themselves with the models. During the action taking phase participants evaluated the four-dimensional framework, the RETAIN model and the Magic Bullet model using the checklists and examples provided to them. During the evaluation phase the three different models were evaluated by the participants and a questionnaire was used to gather data. The data were analysed and results were reported. A major problem was identified and it was decided to initiate a second cycle of the action research process. This time participants were provided with serious games and in a joint effort of the participants the problem was addressed. During the second cycle the problems identified in the first cycle was resolved. Finally this study is concluded with a reflection on all the research questions identified, a report on the findings, recommendations and a discussion of the limitations of the research project. / MSc (Computer Science)--North-West University, Vaal Triangle Campus, 2015
