Självkörande bussars påverkan på Stockholms stomlinjer / The impact of self-driving buses on Stockholm's trunk lines

Självkörande bussar har börjat implementeras i liten skala, samtidigt som forskning för störresjälvkörande bussar fortsätter, så hur kommer en implementering av självkörande bussar påStockholms innerstads stombussar påverka kollektivtrafiken? Detta kommer göras med hjälpav kapacitet samt utifrån tidigare undersökningar om trygghet. Studien utgår ifrån tvåutredningsalternativ där det ena utgår ifrån att bussen ska köra i eget körfält, och i det andraalternativet kan bussen dela väg med övriga trafikanter. Resultatet visar på att enimplementering av självkörande bussar ger en ökning i resenärer som använder sig avstombussarna i innerstan, medan kapaciteten är relativt oförändrad på bussen på grund avtätare avgångar. Det som är viktigt för att lyckas med implementeringen är att resenärernakänner sig säkra när de reser med bussen. / Autonomous buses have begun to be implemented on a small scale, at the same time asresearch for larger autonomous buses continues, so how will the implementation ofautonomous buses on Stockholm’s inner city trunk buses affect public transport? This will bedone with the help of capacity and based on previous surveys on security. The study isbased on two investigation alternatives. One of which is based on the bus driving on its ownlane, and in the other alternative the bus can share the lane with other passengers. Theresult show that the implementation of autonomous buses gives an increase in passengerwho use the trunk buses in the inner city, while the capacity of the bus is relativelyunchanged due to more frequent departures. What is important for the success of theimplementation is that the passengers feel safe when they travel by bus.

A indústria de ônibus urbanos no Brasil produz uma grande diversidade de modelos de veículos, desde microônibus até ônibus de grande capacidade como os bi-articulados. Neste trabalho é apresentado um estudo sobre a utilização dos diferentes tipos de ônibus urbanos no transporte de passageiros, enfocando aspectos técnicos, operacionais e econômicos. O estudo contempla o levantamento das principais características técnicas dos chassis e das carrocerias dos ônibus urbanos; uma discussão a respeito da forma de operação incluindo aspectos sobre a capacidade e a velocidade comercial; uma análise técnica do desempenho operacional: capacidade de transporte e consumo de espaço viário por passageiro e; a avaliação dos custos de operação dos diferentes tipos de ônibus, analisando as relações do custo por passageiro em função do volume total de passageiros e do custo por lugar-quilômetro para cada veículo. / The urban bus industry in Brazil produces a great diversity of vehicles\' models, from minibuses to buses of great capacity, as the bi-articulated. In this work, a study about the use of different types of urban buses in passenger transport, emphasizing technical, operational and economical aspects is presented. This study covers the survey of the principal technical characteristics of the urban buses chassis and bodyworks; a discussion as to the operation form including aspects about capacity and commercial velocity; a technical analysis of the operational performance: transport capacity and road space consumption per passenger and; the assessment of the operational costs of the different types of buses, analysing the relations of the cost per passenger in function of total volume of passengers and the cost per space-quilometer to each vehicle.

A parallel adapter for a high-speed serial bus

This paper describes the building of a parallel converter for a high-speed serial bus. The high-speed serial port of the Macintosh personal computer is used to implement the bus, while an MC68000 Educational Computer Board is used to perform the serial-to-parallel conversion. The device's performance is evaluated, and possible methods for improving its performance are discussed.

How Cutting the Cost of Using a Bank Affects Household’s Behavior of Remittance Transfers: Evidence From a Field Experiment in Rural Malawi

Using a randomized experiment in rural Malawi, this paper finds that providing information on mobile bank buses’ services leads to a higher probability of adopting savings accounts in the treatment group. Households in the treated villages are 3.06 percentage points more likely to adopt savings accounts than households in the control group. Second, the information treatment leads to an increase of in the probability of households receiving remittances in the treated villages, as well as an increase in the amount of remittances received. In particular, the effect is strongest for households that lived at least three kilometers away from the trade centers, which suggests that the main cost of transferring remittance is the cost of traveling to a bank. Third, the 2SLS regression provides suggestive evidence that adopting savings accounts leads to an increase in households’ remittance activities. The 63.3 percentage points increase in the possibility of households receiving remittances after adopting savings accounts suggests that there previously exist high costs associated with the informal channels of transferring remittances.
