Zaplatílek, Jakub January 2009 (has links)
This diploma thesis defines the issue of Business Rule Approach and the technological aspects connected. The aim is to enclose this relatively new topic to the leader. This paper includes the essential techniques and recommendations for rule approach. The thesis includes basic definition of important terms and theoretical overview of used technology. Important point is to highlight the main benefits for a business people that come up from implementing rule based system into the company's information system. The part of this paper is exploring dependencies between business rules, processes and workflows. There are two classic ways to analyze and design information systems -- structure based and object based. According to business needs the new way arises -- the business rule approach. The practical part include concept of functional specification of an application using a module for analyzing a evaluating business rules. The basic policies how the Rule Engines are implemented into the information systems are specified in the technological chapter along with description. There are also elementary operations which can one do with the rules. In one part of the thesis is a description of an software tool developed by company named ILOG. It is called JRules and it provide a full-fledged tool by which you can design, develop, implement and test whole scale business rule projects.

Business rules based legacy system evolution towards service-oriented architecture

Xu, Yang January 2010 (has links)
Enterprises can be empowered to live up to the potential of becoming dynamic, agile and real-time. Service orientation is emerging from the amalgamation of a number of key business, technology and cultural developments. Three essential trends in particular are coming together to create a new revolutionary breed of enterprise, the service-oriented enterprise (SOE): (1) the continuous performance management of the enterprise; (2) the emergence of business process management; and (3) advances in the standards-based service-oriented infrastructures. This thesis focuses on this emerging three-layered architecture that builds on a service-oriented architecture framework, with a process layer that brings technology and business together, and a corporate performance layer that continually monitors and improves the performance indicators of global enterprises provides a novel framework for the business context in which to apply the important technical idea of service orientation and moves it from being an interesting tool for engineers to a vehicle for business managers to fundamentally improve their businesses.

A prova de conceito desta abordagem traduz regras modeladas em linguagem natural para regras no modelo da máquina de regras instanciada, que invoca os serviços / Abstract: In the current globalized world, characterized by strong Web based interactions, relationships between people, companies and government organizations are subject to changes that occur faster and faster. This scenario makes the old problem of system maintenance even more critical, as the updating of these systems needs to contemplate new business models in the context of these fast changes. This situation justifies the need for an approach that can capture business changes and quickly implement them into computational systems. It is considered that some business logic portions are quite volatile and susceptible to the changes and other portions are quite stable and less susceptible to the changes. In this context, a model for fast development and execution of services based on business rules is proposed. In this model the volatile portions are externalized as business rules and the stable portions as services. The proof of concept of this approach translates rules which are modeled in a natural language to rules in the model of the instantiated rule engine that invokes the services / Doutorado / Engenharia de Computação / Doutor em Engenharia Elétrica

Ontologijų naudojimo verslo taisyklių rinkiniui formuoti tyrimas / Ontology Based Development of Domain Rules

Kalibatienė, Diana 08 June 2009 (has links)
Pastaruoju metu žiniomis grindžiamų informacinių sistemų kūrimui pradėtos naudoti ontologijos, tinkamos dalykinės srities žinioms vaizduoti ir sistemų mo-deliams kurti bei jiems įgyvendinti. Tačiau verslo taisyklių modeliavimas onto-logija grindžiamose informacinėse sistemose nėra pakankamai išnagrinėtas ir aiškiai aprašytas. Disertacijoje autorė siūlo metodą ontologijos aksiomoms trans-formuoti į verslo taisykles, kurios naudojamos tam tikriems dalykinės srities as-pektams apriboti arba nukreipti. Siūlomo metodo esmė – dalykinės srities aksio-mos, išreikštos pasirinkta kalba, transformuojamos į verslo taisykles, kurios įgyvendinamos informacinės sistemos programų vykdomosiomis taisyklėmis. Formaliam metodo aprašymui sukurti disertacijoje vartojama Z kalba, o MDA karkasas taikomas siūlomam metodui automatizuoti. Disertaciją sudaro įvadas, keturi skyriai ir išvados, naudotos literatūros ir au-toriaus publikacijų disertacijos tema sąrašai ir trys priedai. Įvadiniame skyriuje nagrinėjamas problemos aktualumas, formuluojamas darbo tikslas bei uždaviniai, aprašomas mokslinis darbo naujumas, pristatomi autorės pranešimai ir publikacijos, disertacijos struktūra. Pirmasis ir antrasis sky-riai skirti literatūros apžvalgai. Pirmajame skyriuje pateikta verslo taisyklės są-vokos analizė, nagrinėjami verslo taisyklių įgyvendinimo metodai ir kalbos. Ant-rajame skyriuje apžvelgiama ontologijos sąvoka, jos panaudojimo galimybės informacinėms sistemoms kurti. Pagrindinis dėmesys skiriamas... [toliau žr. visą tekstą] / Ontologies in nowadays are widely used in the process of development of modern information systems, since they are suitable to represent domain knowl-edge. However, the development of domain rules in ontology-based information systems is required to be analysed. In this dissertation, the author proposes a formal method of transforming ontology axioms to domain rules, making an im-portant and integral part of each domain and used to constrain or direct different aspects of a domain. Such rules can be consecutively transformed into executable form and implemented in a software system of an information system. The pro-posed method is formalised using the Z notation and the MDA framework is ap-plied to automate it. The dissertation consists of the introduction, four chapters, the conclusions, references, list of author’s publications and three annexes. The introduction overviews the main problem analysed in the dissertation and its importance. The aim and consequent objectives, scientific novelty and practical value of the research, methodology of the research, hypothesis of the research, scientific approval, contribution of the results and structure of the dis-sertation are formulated and presented in this chapter. The first and the second chapters cover analysis of existing publications re-lated with the problem of the dissertation. Therefore, the concept of the domain rule and the main problems of their modelling and implementing are analysed in the first chapter. The second... [to full text]

Introducing a rule-based architecture for workflow systems in retail supply chain management

Li, Sheng January 2012 (has links)
Problem: While global IT competition is becoming increasingly severe, various business organizations and companies, in order to maximize the profit and gain market competitiveness, are in urgent need of high-performance workflow systems to improve efficiency. However, the workflow systems that are currently used are embedded with fixed business rules that cannot be easily adjusted by users, resulting in the inability of users to make adjustments to the business rules, so as to satisfy changed requirements and deal with high cost of business management and low efficiency. Therefore, it is highly desirable for users of workflow systems, especially retail supply chain companies, to employ a new type of systems that can be easily adjusted by end users themselves when required.Solution: The rule-based workflow system architecture for the management of retail supply chain business process is recommended. In such architecture, the business rules can be separated from the system logic and managed by users via a friendly interface. The rule-based workflow systems can greatly enhance the system efficiency and lower maintenance cost, as compared with the traditional workflow system or other similar information systems. And the efficiency of retail supply chain business process management can be greatly enhanced by employing rule-based workflow systems. Methods: Two main research problems and four sub-research problems, which serve as the guidance to conduct related research work, have been identified. The research work has been divided into the theoretical part and the empirical part. In the theoretical part, the theory of rule base establishment and rule-based workflow system architecture are discussed. In the empirical part, data analysis as well as prototype design are conducted by employing both quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection. Attempts are also made to verify the theories suggested in the theoretical part by means of empirical research. Based on both theoretical and empirical research, attempts are made to find solutions to the research questions. In general, this thesis arms at providing references for the future research related to rule-based workflow system management in retail supply chain management. The thesis also aims to provide references for the practical use of rule-based systems in the retail supply chain field with such issues as system development and maintenance, especially for the system of complex and changeable business processes. Most importantly, some solutions are offered to the challenges of retail supply chain management. / Program: Magisterutbildning i informatik

Uživatelské rozhraní systému ERIAN v prostředí webových technologií / User interface of system ERIAN based on web technologies

Finger, Artur January 2019 (has links)
ERIAN is a complex business rule management system developed by com- pany Komix. Part of this system is the Rule Management Interface (RMI) which allows users to create, edit, schedule, test and otherwise manage their business rules. The RMI is implemented as a thick client based on C# and WPF, which has its disadvantages. This thesis provides a prototypical implementation of the RMI as a thin client based on cutting-edge web technologies. This thesis predominantly deals with the choice of the correct technologies for the task, while allowing develop- ment and maintainance of different customized versions of the RMI and making sure the prototype handles working with business rules seamlessly even if they are exceptionally large. The resultant RMI prototype is well testable and adds several new function- ality features, compared to the original. It lays a good foundation for a complete re-implementation of the RMI as a thin client.
