Les coopérations en réseau pour optimiser la performance de l’entreprise : l’exemple du réseau logistique en Chine / Cooperation in network to optimize business performance : the case of logistics network in China

Xiang, Tingting 17 September 2012 (has links)
The major aims of this study are to identify the differences between horizontal cooperation and vertical cooperation in network and identify their mechanisms of influence on firm performance. The literature review allows us to develop a research model based on three complementary approaches mobilized: the IMP approach, the Resource-Based approach and Mass Customization approach. Empirical research, based on a quantitative analysis of 134 logistics service providers operating in China, allows us to characterize and describe the cooperation within logistics network in China and to test our research hypotheses. The results highlight the existence of several types of cooperation in terms of resources and activities, for which we found no significant difference between horizontal cooperation and vertical cooperation. All of these PSL fall into three groups according to their cooperation level. The group of PSL who cooperate the most often is marked by a better performance. Moreover, the results show a direct positive influence of cooperation in terms of execution activities, planning activities and knowledge on the operational performance of the firm. They also reveal an indirect positive impact of cooperation in terms of knowledge, relational resources, information resources and physical resources on operational performance.

Commercializing emerging technologies through networks : case of nanotech SMEs in the UK

Salehi Yazdi, Fatemeh January 2016 (has links)
This research aims at understanding how business networks influence the commercialization of emerging technologies. It focuses on small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the field of nanotechnology in the UK and aims to identify what types of networks they use for commercialization. It also examines how different types of networks can explain success or otherwise in commercialization with respect to the position of the SME in the value chain and the type of resulting innovation. Various streams of literature including debates on SMEs and innovation, open innovation, the innovation systems literature, and the industrial networks approach are used to develop a conceptual framework that guides this research. Using a case study approach, 23 Nanotech SMEs in the UK are investigated. Secondary data on firms are gathered from various sources including company websites and the FAME database. Primary data are collected through 40 semi-structured interviews with SMEs’ senior managers and key informants. Data analysis is based upon thematic analysis. The findings present a typology of networks based on a combination of network structure and actor roles, including six network types: incumbent-oriented network with reactive SME, incumbent-oriented network with proactive SME, SME-oriented network, broker-oriented networks, hybrid networks and interrupted networks. The findings indicate that a reactive approach towards networking is less conducive to commercialization, regardless of the innovation type or value chain position. SMEs can proactively create incumbent-oriented, SME-oriented or broker-oriented networks to facilitate commercialization. Incumbent-oriented networks with proactive SMEs are conducive to commercialization of both nanomaterials and nano-intermediate products and can facilitate commercialization of moderately and highly radical nanotechnology. SME-oriented networks are also conducive to commercialization of moderately and highly radical nanotechnology, but have been used for commercialization of nano-enabled products. Broker-oriented networks can facilitate commercialization of technologies or products developed in the upstream part of the value chain and are more influential in the commercialization of moderately or highly radical nanotechnology. Some Nanotech SMEs are simultaneously involved in more than one network type, i.e. have hybrid networks, pursuing multiple strategies for commercialization. All SMEs with hybrid networks have broker-oriented networks in common and in some cases the broker-oriented network has caused formation of other network types. Finally, the findings show how interrupted networks pose the biggest challenge for commercialization. The thesis contributes to the debates on SMEs and innovation and the gap on how open innovation is implemented within the context of SMEs and emerging technologies. This research also informs SME managers' strategies and choices related to participation in business networks. It provides further insights for policy makers regarding the networking behaviour of SMEs and contribution of various network actors to commercialization and in this way assists with devising policies for encouraging and facilitating collaboration for commercialization.

The global demand for fisheries has increased every year, serving to encourage aquaculture activity with great potential of raising production, since it is the previously planned cultivation of aquatic organisms. In Brazil, aquaculture modality that is booming is fish farming in cages, and the Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is the main cultivated species. In the Southeast of the country, especially in São Paulo, the expansion of tilapia culture is taking place mainly through the use of cages in the large reservoirs of hydroelectric power plants (HPP). Among the state's reservoirs, it is the HPP Canoas I which is located on the Paranapanema River and covers the municipalities of Cândido Mota - SP and Itambaracá - PR. Since both municipalities have significant data regarding fish farming in general and in fishnet tanks, this region was defined as the study focus of this research, for which it was proposed as a general objective to analyze the competitiveness of the agents involved in the production of tilapia in cages in the hydroelectric reservoir of the Hydroelectric Plant of Canoas I and their inclusion in social networks. In addition, one of the specific objectives would be to analyze the relationship between the level of integration into social network and level of competitiveness. In order to meet the research objectives, the work included literature on two theoretical aspects involved (Social Networks and Competitiveness) and field research, where fish farmers inserted in the HPP Canoas I reservoir were identified, contacted and interviewed, answering characterization questions of relative order and on competitiveness. The analysis of social network has been made from the treatment of the answers to relational issues and their submission to UCINET® software. The results showed that the most prominent fish farmers on the network are in Paraná bank of the reservoir and work for a long time with the production of tilapia in cages. The competitiveness analysis, in turn, was held from seven drivers: technology and innovation, input and infrastructure, market structure, internal management, institutional environment, market relations and environmental issues. In general, the greatest impasses found to increase the level of competitiveness are linked to the institutional environment and the discrepancy about the importance of environmental issues among the fish farmers of Sao Paulo and Parana. The individual competitiveness of calculations for each fish farmer showed that four fish farmers with higher levels of competitiveness are in Paraná bank of HPP reservoir Canoas I and are experienced in fish activity. Three of these fish farmers are the same three that had greater inclusion in social network. Nevertheless, the relationship between the level of integration in social network and level of competitiveness could not be completely proven, since the same was not observed for other fish farmers. / FAPESP: 2014/16075-2

Fatores críticos na sustentabilidade das centrais de negócios do setor supermercadista / The critical factors for the sustainability of the business networks composed by the small and medium grocery retailers in Brazil

Flávia Angeli Ghisi 17 May 2005 (has links)
Even recognizing the importance of the business networks composed by the small and medium grocery retailers for its sustainability in Brazil, the lack of publications is notable. This working force has just received more attention in the country in the last five years and the studies found in the literature have predominantly exploratory character. Based on these facts, the objective of this study is to foment important discussions about the business networks composed by small and medium grocery retailers. It analyzes critically it formation, identifying the influence factors at its sustainability. The methodology of the study is based on five stages that complement each other. The first one refers to the bibliographical research and secondary data research, that attempts to promote the theoretical knowledge on the business networks. In a second moment, an exploratory research was accomplished with three business networks formed by small and medium grocery retailers, seeking a practical perception of the theme, the definition of the methodological stages, and the elucidation of the problem, propositions, questions and variables of the research. In the sequence a qualitative study was conducted with six business networks of small and medium grocery retailers formed at least one year ago that could improve larger knowledge and experience in it formation process. In the fourth methodological stage a quantitative research was realized with 21 business networks in several Brazilian States to analyze propositions, to investigate correlation among the variables and to describe the characteristics of the business networks in the national territory. Finally, through a qualitative research, it was attempted to identify, based on international Danish experiences, potential actions that could be adapted to the national context. The discussed results can contribute to a better understanding of the process of formation of the business networks composed by the small and medium grocery retailers. As a result, for this union succeed, it needs to include a proposal, but at the same time to focus in clear objectives, to improve the qualification of the processes and the professional training of their members, and to include the economical, social and cultural perspective. Since one of the attempt of this study was to provide recommendations focused on the sustainability of the business networks composed by small and medium grocery retailers, the study provides useful insights that should be taken for which business network that aim to be maintainable.

Network constellations for mobile payments - Influence of the leading partner on NFC-based mobile digital wallets

Sánchez Garvín, Mario January 2011 (has links)
The mobile payments industry, which is currently at an early stage of development, is taking the direction to be established mainly as an NFC-based industry, and, moreover, led by the mobile digital wallets setting. A mobile digital wallet is a complete payment app for your NFC-enabled mobile phone that enables consumers to pay at stores at the point of sale with a mobile phone. The digital wallet, which is associated with a credit card, integrates all payment-related services like the management and storage of receipts, coupons and offers, and loyalty cards. Currently, there are three big partnerships going ahead of the NFC mPayments stream: Google Wallet, VISA’s Digital Wallet and ISIS Mobile Wallet. Each one of these three mobile digital wallets is led by an actor coming from a different industry of origin. Google Wallet is led by Google, an internet and technology actor. VISA’s Digital Wallet is managed by Visa, a traditional payment processor. And ISIS Mobile Wallet is led by three of the largest US telecom operators: AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. Thus, applying a business network theory to analyse how the industry of origin of the mobile digital wallet affects the interaction within the partnership formed is a unique and perfectly fitted opportunity. The aim of this Master Thesis was to analyse the influence, regarding interaction, of the origin industry of the leading partners on the NFC-based mobile digital wallet partnerships of the mobile payments developing industry. A literature review on business network theory was conducted, in order to identify key features of the business landscape affecting interaction on business networks, as well as an industry analysis of the mobile payments developing industry. Then, the business network theory approach was applied to the study of the mobile payments digital wallet setting, conducting a discussion based both on the industry analysis performed and a set of interviews with experts on the mobile payments industry.

Internationalization of Enterprise-solution Software: From Understand Your Product to Understand Your Network

Guo, Xin January 2011 (has links)
Due to the characteristics of software, software products have been considered products with "pure" profits which are suitable to be sold in the international market. Enterprise software is one typical type of software which is mainly sold in business market. More and more enterprise software providers are going abroad to discover opportunities for their enterprise solutions. This thesis is to try to give more suggestions on internationalization for these enterprise software providers. The empirical case is concerning the internationalization of the enterprise software provided by a Swedish software company, Company A. The case happens in the specific geographic area (China) which is far away from the domestic market, the Swedish market. Based on the business network of Company A, Software A has been successfully sold in the Chinese market. The analysis is on the basis of the empirical case and the relevant theories on internationalization. In the context of the empirical case, the nature of enterprise software has been analyzed. Enterprise software is usually tangible and customized, and the internationalization of enterprise software is more relationship-based than mass software products. The discussion about the nature of enterprise software contains the "service" nature of enterprise software, the "service" typology of enterprise software in international marketing and some features of enterprise software which are influencing the internationalization of enterprise software. By understanding the nature of enterprise software, enterprise software providers are capable of crafting international marketing strategies in their internationalization processes. For example, enterprise software providers can develop module-based software or add more self-customization functions to decrease the risks of internationalization. ii Internationalization has been discussed for a long time since the "Uppsala" model was come up in 1977. In the last thirty years, the business environment has been changing with the tendency of expanding through the network-based business relationship. The new "Uppsala" model, which was born in this new business environment, has been leaded me to analyze the success and failure in the empirical case. The internationalization of enterprise software is observed to follow the changes of the four elements in the new "Uppsala" model, in which "opportunities learning" and "trust building" are highlighted in the network-based business environment. The new "Uppsala" model is valuable for today’s internationalization to develop strategies for the more successful internationalization. From understanding the product to understanding the network, enterprise software providers can explore more international opportunities and internationalization strategies for their enterprise software instead of the traditional thinking.
