Utveckling av golvkonsol för elbil / Development of floor console for electric carLundberg, Anna, Oldenburg, Martina January 2017 (has links)
A product development project has been carried out at University of Skövde in collaboration with China Euro Vehicle Technology AB (CEVT). Konceptuell utveckling av interiören hos en framtida fullt autonom bil / Conceptual development of an interior in a future fully autonomous carEdvardsson, Felicia, Warberg, Therése January 2016 (has links)
The goal with this thesis project has been to collect information for a technical consulting company in order to increase their knowledge about autonomous systems and vehicular communication. The autonomous systems can collect information from the surrounding through sensors and contribute to better traffic efficiency, increased safety, lighter cars and a better environment. Through vehicle communication, the vehicle can communicate with each other in order to guarantee a safe ride. In 2030 the inner city constitutes of autonomous, electrified public transport to transport people on demand, meanwhile private cars are prohibited. Potential needs for the human in a fully, autonomous car has been identified and various product development methods has been applied in order to develop two conceptual solutions for a future car interior. The solutions show the interaction between human and system since entertainment and comfort becomes important in a fully, autonomous car. Each solution is state-owned and holds four passengers. In the solutions, the seats are placed in regard to facilitate communication between the passengers. The passengers can be entertained or informed individually or collectively by text, sound and images.

This study aims at characterizing in a wind tunnel the aerodynamic mechanisms contributing to the generation and transmission of the noise fluctuations into a car interior model. The test bench designed in anechoic wind tunnel consists of a flow whose incoming flow velocity is modulated by a mobile flap, and which by interaction with a forward-facing step radiates an aeroacoustic noise transmitted through a glass into an anechoic box. The adopted approach consists, during the flap handling time, in measuring and connecting the external velocity field measured using the Time-Resolved laser Particle Image Velocimetry technique (TR-PIV at sampling frequency 20 kHz) to the wall pressure on the one hand, and then to the internal acoustic field obtained by transmission on the other hand. Spatio-temporal correlation tools are then used to highlight the flow areas that are the most correlated with the energy fluctuations of the wall pressure and with those of the internal noise level. The fluctuation of the aerodynamic loading of the window under the recirculation bubble is logically related to the unsteady activity of the latter, then further downstream to the vortex stream. As for the noise transmitted into the cabin model, it seems mainly related to the speed fluctuations in the shear layer. Finally, a specific procedure allows to evaluate the quasi-steady nature of the temporal variations of the fluctuating quantities, as well as the acoustic response of the window.

Ljusintensitetstoleranser på belysningskomponenter interiört i bilar / In car lighting tolerances on lighting componentsLindh, Tove, Elfström, Victor January 2022 (has links)
Interior design in cars today is a factor that consumers value highly. To stand out in the market, it is required that all parts are experienced as high quality. This entails that there are increasing demands on interior components in the car. The study is in collaboration with Volvo Car Group and specifically their Perceived Quality department as it is this department that focuses on perceived quality and works to ensure that Volvo Car Group´s cars are perceived as high quality. An important part of the interior design is lumination. This study aims to answer how large differences there can be at luminance levels before the human eye notices a difference. The methods used are observations and experiments. Observers were shown four different luminated points where their task was to explain when they experienced difference and how they experienced the differences. Measurement data were collected with a luminance camera which was then analyzed. Data collected were reported and analyzed. Data were then used to show how much luminance levels interior in cars can differ before a difference is experienced.

Quality perception study in sustainable materials for Volvo CarsRamos, Irene January 2021 (has links)
The growing demand in the industry towards sustainability and the globalization of manufacturing lead to an industrial climate of constant development and improvements, and automotive interior design is not excluded. In 2017 the European Union declared that the material used to generate the bright chrome surfaces of car interiors (CR VI) is toxic and carcinogenic. This implies that Volvo will ban the use of Chrome VI for decorative parts from September 2024. Finding a more eco-friendly alternative to replace CR VI not only functionally but also in terms of perceived quality and user experience will be an urgent and decisive action. In this project, the parameters of gloss, haze, color temperature, and metallic depth are investigated in order to figure out which elements ensure the perceived quality of chrome surfaces. For this purpose, a user study based on different sensory tests and soft metrology was carried out with 48 people, as well as seven samples, five of them more eco-friendly alternatives. This project aims to introduce a set of tools to assess and guarantee the perception of quality by supporting the development of "chrome-look" surfaces in the automotive interior with new sustainable materials. Through this study, correlating soft and hard metrology, it is observed what makes a surface perceived as "high-quality" and which of the more eco-friendly alternatives could be the most optimal to replace Chrome VI in Volvo's car interiors.
