Analyzing the Management in Nutraceutical Industry in Taiwan¡GTaking G Company as an Example

Li, Yen-Chang 30 August 2010 (has links)
Abstract Balance Score Card (BSC) has been adopted broadly in organization performance evaluation as well as strategy development and evaluation, especially when the business environment is growingly competitive. The effectiveness of BSC has been shown through its practice in many large-size companies by enhancing cross divisional communications. However, for 90% of companies in Taiwan are small and medium sized and these companies contributed over 70% of job opportunities, it is important to investigate whether BSC can provide such effectiveness for these Taiwanese firms. Thus, this research develops a case study of an emerging company. By observing the decision and introduction of BSC to the company, this research has found below conclusions: 1. Small and medium sized firms are simpler, thus easier to focus and result to shorter introduction time of BSC. 2. BSC has provided effective design of indicators to connect strategy and actions and further provide good means for management team to evaluate performance and report to the board. 3. In the development phase of SMEs, the financial phase of BSC reminds the firms to emphasize the growth of revenue. With the help of BSC, management team can balance the focus of customer value, internal process and organizational learning.

Retail yields and fabrication times for beef subprimals from two grade groups

Voges, Kristin Leigh 17 February 2005 (has links)
Beef subprimals (n = 356), representing USDA Low Choice and Select grades, were obtained from a major beef processor. Selected subprimals represented the normal weight variation and standard packer fat trim levels associated with commodity boxed beef. The subprimals selected included beef rib, blade meat; beef rib, ribeye roll, lip-on, bone-in; beef rib, ribeye roll (0x0); beef rib, ribeye, lip-on (2x2) (5.08 cm x 5.08 cm); beef rib, ribeye, lip-on modified (1x1) (2.54 cm x 2.54 cm); beef rib, ribeye (IM, individual muscle); beef rib, ribeye cap (IM); beef chuck, outside shoulder clod, trimmed; beef chuck, outside shoulder clod, top blade roast; beef chuck, square cut, pectoral meat (IM); beef chuck, chuck roll; beef plate, inside skirt (IM); beef round, top (inside) untrimmed; beef round, outside round (flat); beef round, eye of round (IM); beef loin, strip loin, bone in; beef loin, strip loin, boneless; beef loin, top sirloin butt, boneless, 2-piece; beef loin, bottom sirloin butt, flap boneless (IM); beef loin, bottom sirloin butt, ball tip, boneless; beef loin, bottom sirloin butt, tri-tip, boneless (IM); and beef chuck, outside shoulder, clod M. teres major. Subprimals were fabricated into bone-in or boneless retail or foodservice cuts and associated components by trained retail meat cutters. After each retail cutting test, trained technicians recorded weights of all cuts, lean trim, fat trim, and bone. All retail cuts were trimmed to an eighth of an inch (0.32 cm), unless otherwise specified. Time (s) was recorded for each-cutting test and in two major phases: opening (retrieval of the subprimal from vacuum-packaged bag) and cutting (removal of all external and seam fat, connective tissue, and separation of individual muscles, as well as producing tray ready retail cuts). In general, Select subprimals had higher saleable yields than Choice subprimals. Select subprimals had less trimmable fat than Choice subprimals, and differences in retail yields appeared to follow these factors. Few significant differences were observed for processing times between USDA quality grade groups. These data will serve as an update to the CARDS (Computer Assisted Retail Decision Support) software program.

Έξυπνες κάρτες / Smart cards

Αντωνόπουλος, Νικόλαος 26 January 2009 (has links)
In the present diploma thesis we study the smart cards in addition to the technologies that are related with them. Particular accent is given in the Java Card technology which we use in order to develop a demo application of a patient’s smart card. In the first chapter we set out general characteristics of smart cards. We make a short historical retrospection and we study some particular fields in which they are applicable, presenting their advantages. In the second chapter we refer to the architecture and hardware of smart cards. After we present the variety of the existing smart cards we overhaul the hardware of smart cards, for example CPU, memory etc. In the third chapter we examine the software of smart cards. We set out the way of communication with the card, in the existing operating systems for smart cards as well as in the models that have dominated. Closing the chapter we make a short reference in smart card’s cryptography. In the fourth chapter we make a more detailed reference to Java Card technology. We study the architecture and the components of this technology which are the virtual machine and the executing environment. We also refer to various subjects relevant with this technology. In the fifth and last chapter we deal with the development of a demo application. It is a smart card that is used widely in many hospitals around the world. It is used by these hospitals’ patients. After we show the functional and technical specifications we refer to designing issues of this application and finally we demonstrate their way of operation.

Switching Screens: An Examination of How House of Cards and Scandal Represent Shifting Strategies in Television

Rossiter, Laura 01 January 2015 (has links)
Both House of Cards and Scandal have similar conceits (White House? Check. Sex? Check. Murder? Check.) but use different platforms: House of Cards is a Netflix Original production while Scandal is a broadcast television program on ABC. Through the course of this paper, I will examine how the platform and type of consumption affects the content and distribution of the show and the types of relationships they forge with their viewers.
