Mjukvarutester : En studie om när manuella respektive automatiserade tester används i praktiken

The focus of this study is on examining when employees in the IT industry experience that it is more favorable to use automated tests and manual tests, respectively. The purpose of this study is to investigate how different companies in practice, use, work with and think about the two different test methods. Four factors that influence the choice of test method have been developed as a workframe based on five articles, all of which discuss the requirements and criteria for the two different test methods. By conducting an interview study with semi-structured interviews, data has been retrieved from two different companies. The data has in turn been analyzed based on the four factors that have been developed, namely: the number of test cases/test runs, technical aspects, what functions that are to be tested and resources. Based on the analyzes, it has been clear that the opinions from the different respondents and from previous research often remain on the same track. Thus, the various criteria could be discussed and the motivation for when the respondents use each method could be outlined. However, it also becomes clear that in the end it is mainly resources, often the number of working hours and the monetary cost, that determines what practice of testing is to be used. / Denna studie riktar in sig på att undersöka när anställda inom IT-branschen upplever att det är mer gynnsamt att använda sig av automatiserade tester respektive manuella tester. Syftet med studien är att undersöka hur olika företag använder sig, arbetar med och ser på de två olika testmetoderna i praktiken. Fyra stycken faktorer som påverkar valet av testmetod har tagits fram som ramverk som är baserad på fem artiklar där samtliga diskuterar krav och kriterier för de två olika testmetoderna. Genom att utföra en intervjustudie med semi-strukturerade intervjuer har data samlats in från två olika företag. Den insamlade datan har i sin tur analyserats utifrån de olika faktorerna som tagits fram nämligen: Antalet testfall/testkörningar, tekniska aspekter, funktioner som ska testas samt resurser. Utifrån analysen har det varit tydligt att åsikterna från de olika respondenterna samt från tidigare forskning ofta är på samma spår. Därmed har de olika kriterierna kunnat diskuterats och motiveringarna till när respondenterna använder sig av respektive metod kunnat benas ut. Dock blir det också tydligt att i slutändan är det resurser, oftast antalet arbetstimmar och den monetära kostnaden, som styr vad som borde väljas.

Verifiering av reagens för analys av järn i plasma på Abbott® Alinity™ ci-series / Verification of reagent for the analysis of iron in plasma on Abbott® Alinity™ ci-series

Järn är ett livsviktigt spårämne som vid både brist och överskott kan leda till sjukdom. Järnmetabolismen är komplex och det finns flera biomarkörer som används för att utvärdera järnstatus, till exempel transferrinbundet järn. På grund av detta är det avgörande att den analytiska säkerheten för järnanalys bibehålls. Syftet med studien var att verifiera ett nytt reagens, Iron2 för att ersätta det nuvarande reagenset, Iron för kvantitativ järnanalys på Abbott® Alinity ci-series. Den beräknade precisionen förväntades vara jämförbar med tillverkarens specifikationer, samt visa en stark korrelation med nuvarande reagens. Inom- och mellanserieprecisionen bedömdes genom upprepad analys av kontrollmaterial. Metodjämförelsen genomfördes genom att jämföra resultaten från 35 patientprover analyserade med båda reagensen. Precisionen vid inomserieprecisionsskattningen hade en beräknad variationskoefficient (CV) på 0,28 % för lågnivåkontrollen och 0,25 % för högnivåkontrollen. För den mellanliggande precisionen var resulterande CV 1,21 % respektive 0,55 %. Korrelationsanalysen visade ett linjärt samband, men en tendens för Iron2 att mäta högre värden vid högre analytkoncentrationer. Sammanfattningsvis fann studien att precisionen för Iron2 var bättre eller jämförbar med tillverkarens specifikationer och nuvarande reagens. Det fanns en stark linjär korrelation mellan reagensen utan någon signifikant skillnad mellan resultaten. Iron2 bedömdes som lämplig för implementering. / Iron is a vital trace element that can lead to issues both in deficiency and excess. The metabolism of iron is complex and there are multiple biomarkers used to evaluate the iron status, for example, quantification of transferrin-bound iron. Because of this, it is imperative that the analytical certainty of iron analysis is maintained. The study aimed to verify a new reagent, Iron2 to replace the current reagent, Iron for quantitative iron analysis on Abbott® Alinity ci-series. The calculated precision was expected to be comparable to the manufacturer’s specifications and show a strong correlation with the comparison method. Within-series and intermediate precision were assessed by repeated analysis of control material. The method comparison was carried out by comparing the results of 35 patient samples analysed with both reagents. The within-run precision had a calculated coefficient of variation (CV) of 0,28% for the low-level control and 0,25% for the high-level control. For the intermediate precision, the resulting CVs were 1,21% and 0,55% respectively. The correlation analysis showed a linear relationship, but a tendency for Iron2 to measure higher values at higher analyte concentrations. In conclusion, the study found that the precision of Iron2 was better or comparable to the manufacturer's specifications and comparison method. There was a strong linear correlation between the reagents with no significant difference between the results. The reagent was deemed satisfactory for implementation.

The goal of this thesis is to explore the possibility on if it is possible to automate regression testing for a SaaS application with a serverless approach. The thesis covers the fundamentals of the software development lifecycle, cloud concepts, different types of testing frameworks, and SaaS applications. The report researches various testing tools that can be used in accordance with Polestar’s needs. The testing framework must run the existing tests and deliver the results of the tests. The system must be able to coexist with the testing strategy that is in place today. The result is a testing framework that can run a number of selected tests on the SaaS application Salesforce. The system was deployed with serverless docker containers through Amazon Web Services. The report also covers what a future implementation can look like and potential improvements. / Målet med denna avhandling är att undersöka om det går att automatisera regression testning för en SaaS-applikation med hjälp av ett serverlöst tillvägagångsätt. Avhandlingen täcker grunderna inom molnkoncept, mjukvaruutveckling, olika typer av testramverk och SaaS-applikationer. Avhandlingen går även igenom gamla arbeten som har gjorts inom området. Rapporten behandlar val av verktyg med åtanke på vad företaget Polestar har för    behov. Testramverket ska kunna utföra automatiska regressionstester på SaaS-applikationen Salesforce. Resultatet är ett testramverk som kan köra ett antal utvalda tester på Salesforce. Systemet driftsattes med hjälp av serverlösa Docker containrar på Amazon Web Services. Avhandlingen täcker även alternativa verktyg som kan användas för testautomation och även potentiella förbättringsmöjligheter.

Mitigating CI/CD threats through an extended access control model / Motverka hot CI/CD-hot genom en utökad åtkomstkontrollmodell

Continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) are automated processes that form a vital part of the software development lifecycle. However, CI/CD entails unique security challenges, as demonstrated by cyber attacks in recent years. This thesis presents a method for diminishing the risks of CI/CD through the dynamic access control patterns of zero trust. The impact of the method is evaluated by threat modeling popular open-source CI/CD pipelines on GitHub using STRIDE and examining the effect on the found threats. This evaluation shows that a significant subset of the found threats are impacted by the method, which suggests that monitoring dynamic CI/CD attributes have the potential to improve the security of CI/CD systems. Furthermore, the current use of existing mitigations against threats by popular GitHub repositories is investigated. / En allt viktigare del av utveckling av mjukvara utgörs av så kallade CI/CDpipelines, vilka möjliggör kontinuerlig integration och leverans av mjukvara. Dessa medför stora förtjänster i utvecklingseffektivitet, men även unika säkerhetsutmaningar, vilket har poängterats av cyberattacker mot pipelines under senare år. Denna uppsats uppsats syftar till att minska riskerna i CI/CD-pipelines. Detta görs genom att presentera en ny modell för åtkomstkontroll i CI/CD-pipelines på webbplattformet GitHub. Modellens prestanda evalueras genom att undersöka dess effekt på pipeline-hot som hittas genom hotmodellering av populära projekt på GitHub. Evalueringen visar att en betydande delmängd av de funna hoten påverkas av modellen, vilket antyder att övervakning av dynamiska attribut i CI/CD-system kan förbättra säkerheten i dessa. Dessutom så undersöks hur existerande GitHub-projekt jobbar med lindringar av hot mot säkerheten i pipelines.

The general objective of this research is to investigate the social and cognitive institutionalization of the Information Science based on the scientific articles written in the Ci?ncia da Informa??o journal online, from 1995 to 2005, with the purpose to supply scientific indicators to a better understanding of the area. The specific objectives are: to chart the scientific texts network developed through the Ci?ncia da Informa??o journal, from the articles and their citations; and to distinct the thematic tendencies and the research front in Information Science, referring to scientific articles of the Ci?ncia da Informa??o journal. To debate the differences and the relations between constitution and institutionalization of the scientific discipline, the conceptual and social operations of this constitution, and the cognitive and social perspectives of the science institutionalization. It presents a theoric board of references in Information Science, focusing the object of study, the theoric basis, the characteristics, the interdisciplinary relations and the polemic and controversial issues, from texts that are very important to the area. It reviews the specific literature about the production, dissemination and use cycle of the information, distincting the scientific ethos, the scientific journal and its function, characteristics and evaluation process, and the scientific article and its functions and categorizations. It also approaches the citation and the relations of the scientific knowledge construction, as well as the finality of the citation studies and the scientific texts network that is visualized through the citation and references mechanisms. It uses the scienciometric method and the citation analysis, the subject analysis and the cartographic representations as techniques. It constitutes a descriptive and exploratory research according to its objective and methodological procedures for the bibliographical. The research s main results are: thematic tendencies are directed to the information management, mediation, circulation and use of information, and evaluation of the scientific production; the concentration of books and articles as sources of citations and gradual growth of the Internet webpage, each year; and the distinction of the more citation authors by thematic field, through ANCIB s work groups. It reveals that from the scientific article and its citations it is possible to obtain satisfactory results about the scientific texts network development, the thematic tendencies and the contribution of the scientific authors, as well to visualize the scientific activity institutionalization level. To do so, it carried out an exploratory qualitative approach. The data was collected in interviews with three teachers from public higher education institutions in Southeast Brazil, and was analyzed through content analysis method. The knowledge was identified in the case study "How to facilitate the learning of Cost Accounting for students who did not choose the Accounting career?", in witch is used: active methodologies; professional ethics; knowledge of the specific content and discipline; respect for student opinion; planning and evaluation of learning; reflection on teaching practice; background of contents; and theoretical-practical relation. The knowledge we can identify in the teaching case: "Formative assessment of the student in a constructive perspective" is about: evaluation of learning in the identification of advantages and difficulties of students and it's reflection in teaching practice; ethics and academic honesty; usage of tools and evaluation criteria for learning; new technologies in education; research of teaching practice; encouraging ethics and positive attitudes in students; and the use of reflection on teaching practice. The knowledge identified in the other teaching case called "Evaluation as an opportunity to develop professional ethics", is: use of ethics in teaching; academic honesty; encouragement of positive attitudes in students; and reflection on the teaching practice. We highlight the common knowledge of the three teaching cases: a) confronting ethical dilemmas in teaching; b) reflection on the teaching practice; c) use of evaluation to develop academic honesty, learning the contents and valuing the accounting profession. It is concluded that the identified knowledge comes from the knowledge of the discipline, the classroom practice, the institution of education where the teachers work, the coexistence with the peers and with the students, as well as of the personal, professional and academic trajectory experienced by teachers until then. / O presente trabalho tem como objetivo conhecer e analisar os saberes que se fazem presentes em casos de ensino relatados pelo professor de Ci??ncias Cont??beis. Para tanto, realizou-se uma pesquisa explorat??ria de abordagem qualitativa. Os dados foram coletados em entrevistas realizadas com tr??s docentes de institui????es de ensino superior p??blicas da regi??o Sudeste do Brasil, e as informa????es foram analisadas por meio da an??lise de conte??do. In my thesis, I focused on the issue of the critical infrastructure (CI), the Czech Republic was obliged to implement in its legislation by the January 12, 2011. This was performed by amending the crisis law. The thesis describes generally the critical infrastructure, its history and development in the conditions of the Czech Republic as well as the European Union, the basic legal regulations and it also characterizes the concepts associated with this issue. In the scope of the research I focused on comparing the fields of CI, changes in criteria and principles of determining CI elements and influence of these changes on the number of the subjects of critical infrastructure in the South Bohemian Region. As it turned out during the elaboration, it is not simple to find out the newly established numbers of CI subjects.
