Strategie rozhodování u otázek na frekvenci chování / Response strategies of behavioral frequency questions

Tůmová, Markéta January 2014 (has links)
The thesis "Response strategies of behavioral frequency questions" deals with response strategies that respondents use to determine the frequency of behavior during the cognitive process of answering to the open-ended as well as closed behavioral frequency questions. The author uses a combination of research methods of cognitive interview with secondary analysis of quantitative data from the European Social Survey Research. The analytical part describes different types of response strategies used by respondents and deals with variety of factors that influence the choice of these strategies. The author analyzes the influence of the question format on the choice of the response strategy and on the answers to the same behavioral frequency questions. The thesis concludes that the choice of a particular response strategy is affected by the respondent's memory, the context within which the respondents have connected the behavior, regularity and absolute frequency of the behavior. The question format affects respondent's answers and it plays an important role during the cognitive process of answering behavioral frequency questions.

The relationship between the Cognitive Process Profile (CPP) and the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory (MBTI)

Van Heerden, Gillian 30 November 2005 (has links)
Personality, psychological type and cognitive ability are frequently implied to be underlying causes of differences in reasoning processes, decision-making processes and general success in a job. However, there is a trend towards utilising cognitive and personality measures interchangeably in the context of selection and development, particularly as it pertains to selection based on cognitive ability and cognitive style. The general aim of this research was therefore to investigate the relationship between psychological type, as measured by the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory (MBTI), and cognitive abilities and styles as measured by the Cognitive Process Profile (CPP). Cognitive ability is discussed under the cognitive psychology paradigm. A clarification of concepts associated with cognitive psychology is provided, and the CPP model is introduced as an integrative model encompassing aspects of cognitive ability and cognitive style. Psychological type is discussed under the analytical psychology paradigm, with a focus on personality structure, dynamics and development. This is then integrated into an overview of Jung's theory of personality types and the development of the MBTI. An empirical investigation, utilising Pairwise comparisons and Chi-square statistics was conducted. The results were then integrated to enable a better understanding of the relationship between cognition and personality. Based on this, it was concluded that there is insufficient evidence to suggest that a relationship exists between cognitive styles (as defined by the CPP) and personality (as defined by the MBTI). There were however, sufficient statistically significant findings to suggest that there is some relationship between cognitive processes / competencies and personality. / Industrial and Organisational Psychology / M.A. (Industrial and Organisational Psychology)

The relationship between cognitive styles and personality types

Hardijzer, Carol Hugo 11 1900 (has links)
The general purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between cognitive styles and personality types in order to gain insight into the placement of leaders within the context of current and future organisational demands. The study was conducted among 123 managers within the information technology environment of a South African financial institution. Data was collected by means of the Cognitive Process Profile (CPP) and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Supporting evidence, although not sufficient, indicates a probable relationship between cognitive styles and personality types. The assumption can therefore be made that the relationship between cognitive styles and personality types will be more pronounced among a more geographically distributed sample group which includes sufficient diverse respondents regarding the different cognitive styles and personality types. / Industrial and Organisational Psychology / MCOM (Industrial Psychology)

Kvalita z hlediska tlumočení jako strategického rozhodovacího procesu - direkcionalita a strategie při tlumočení právních textů / Quality and Strategic Decision Making in Simultaneous Interpreting - Directionality and Strategies in Conference Interpreting of Legal Speeches

Ďoubalová, Jana January 2019 (has links)
The dissertation provides a comprehensive analysis of the issue of quality in simultaneous interpreting. The theoretical part explores general questions related to quality in interpreting, namely the inherent difficulties encountered in defining quality, the issue of subjectivity in the assessment of quality, the different perspectives on quality and the issues surrounding the various quality criteria as suggested by different authors. The work focuses on the cognitive processes involved in simultaneous interpreting; concepts of working memory and cognitive load are discussed as well as their connection to the concept of interpreting as a decision-making process and a strategic behaviour. Quality is therefore understood as the capacity to efficiently and effectively manage available cognitive resources and to choose appropriate strategies to solve a particular problem in a specific interpreting situation, while taking into account the overall working conditions and the individual predispositions of the interpreter. The empirical part includes an analysis of actual interpreting of technical (legal) speeches. The technical nature of the speeches and the resulting linguistic and conceptual difficulties of the input material is considered to be a factor that increases cognitive load. The aim is to...

Getúlio Damado e Roger Mello: conexões entre o campo da arte e o universo lúdico infantil / Getúlio Damado and Roger Mello: conections between the field of the arts and the playful universe of children

Maristela Pessoa Ramos 12 July 2013 (has links)
The central idea of the research was to reconcile the visual narratives of Getúlio Damado and Roger Mello and henceforth to highlight the cognitive processes and strategies involved in structuring their social identities and contemporary artistic languages, as well as to emphasize the playfulness, and access to the universe of childhood and popular culture to reframe both their works. Additionally, this paper tried to comment and evaluate specific moments of prestige and repudiation versus consecration occurred with these artists. To this end, these productions were contextualized as cultural productions in a constant process of mutation, which involved both historical events and technological innovation in continuous construction. These languages are subjected to a high speed and overlapping influences. Another point emphasized in the analysis was the character of subjectivity of these productions, aesthetic practices identified as promoters of political transformation, mobilization, or also by its ability to operate with the symbolic use of toys and childrens books recovering their original use.. Daydreams, the childish playfulness and the popular culture present in those objects made of waste and illustrated books were confronted with consonant practices or embracing speeches, currents in the world of art or sometimes familiar to local approaches. Besides the possibility of convergence between the productions of the two artists, the research also spotted many differences, and pointed out particularly the potentiality that can come from popular culture as an exploratory field of research, as well as its redefinition

Fantasy - teorie žánru a jeho edukační aspekty / Fantasy - Theory of the Genre and its Educative Aspects

HOKR, Boris January 2010 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with fantasy literature in both, national and international contexts, as well as with its didactical possessions. Its aim is to prove that this genre has, apart from its history and a recognized place in the domain of literature, a cognitive value to enhance the readers in terms of aesthetics, knowledge, experience and emotions. A second aim of the thesis is to describe the position of fantasy in so-called ``speculative fiction{\crq}q. The first part of the work allows its readers to understand the term ``Fantasy``. It also provides them with history of the genre and its nowadays´ subdivision. In the subsequent chapters the fantasy is presented as a genre able to adapt to fields not necessarily linked to contemporary literature, such as source of knowledge and understanding in lives of young people. A more detailed approach to the Czech form of the genre is also provided with emphasis to common and opposite aspects of it in comparison with the world fantasy (mostly Anglo-American). The didactical potential is underlined in appropriate paragraphs. The 4th and 6thchapters are then fully dedicated to the didactical potential. The last chapter presents results of research work focused on fantasy.
