Submitted by Claudinei Pracidelli (cpracide@ipen.br) on 2014-11-10T10:55:54Z No. of bitstreams: 0 / Made available in DSpace on 2014-11-10T10:55:54Z (GMT).

Weslem Liberato Silva 03 March 2009 (has links)
Let K be the Klein bottle and let K M S be a Klein bottle bundle over S 1 . In this work we study the following question: given a pair of fiber preserving maps over S^ , when can it be deformed by a fiberwise homotopy over S into a pair of coincidence free fiber preserving maps over S^, (f^{\'} , g^{\'} ) ?

Fragmentation of small molecules by UV and X-ray irradiation

Kokkonen, E. (Esko) 01 September 2017 (has links)
Abstract Electron-ion coincidence spectroscopy has been used to study the fragmentation behaviour of small molecules in two distinct cases: to resolve the state specific fragmentation patterns of HgBr₂ and HgCl₂ subsequent to UV ionization, and to distinguish the dissociation behaviour of various chlorinated methanes (CH₃Cl, CH₂Cl₂, CHCl₃ and CCl₄) subsequent to X-ray irradiation. The mercury-compound work has revealed details on the electronic structure and dissociation dynamics of the valence states which were previously unknown. The study on the chlorinated methanes has found new details on the exact pathways of the appearance of a specific fragment and also investigates the speed of the dissociation in the four different chlorinated methane molecules. The results from the electron-ion coincidence spectroscopic experiments are presented and analysed together with theoretical and computational support.

Développement et modélisation d'un spectromètre multidétecteur Ge/Si pour la détection des ultra-traces de produits de fission dans l'environnement / Development and simulation of a Ge/Si multi-detector spectrometer for fission products traces detection in the environment

Cagniant, Antoine 03 April 2015 (has links)
For the verification of the Comprehensive nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT), the measurement of fission products trace levels in the environment is fundamental. Such measurement is a key indicator of a nuclear explosion. For constant amelioration of these measurements, the CEA/DAM-Ile de France has developed and installed a new dedicated surface spectrometer. Named GAMMA3, it is equipped with three germanium detectors, two silicon detectors (integrated in a dedicated gas cell, the PIPSBox) and includes an optimized shielding. This shielding reduces greatly the interference of environmental photons, muons and neutrons with the detectors. The residual radiological background measured inside the shielding is the community’s lowest for a surface laboratory. This set of high energy resolution detectors allows the operator to optimize a measurement according to the sample geometry, activity or nature. More precisely, a radioactive noble gas can be measured by photon/electron coincidence, an active sample can be measured by photon/photon coincidence, and a low-active sample can be measured in a high-efficiency configuration. Combining optimized shielding and optimized measurement, Minimum Detectable Activities required for CTBT certification are obtained quickly. Specifically, MDA is reached in 5 hours for 140-Ba (24 mBq), in 6h30 hours for 131m/133m-Xe (5 mBq) and in 7h15 for 133-Xe (5 mBq), when CTBT requirement is in 6 days.

Fixed points of single-valued and multi-valued mappings with applications

Stofile, Simfumene January 2013 (has links)
The relationship between the convergence of a sequence of self mappings of a metric space and their fixed points, known as the stability (or continuity) of fixed points has been of continuing interest and widely studied in fixed point theory. In this thesis we study the stability of common fixed points in a Hausdorff uniform space whose uniformity is generated by a family of pseudometrics, by using some general notations of convergence. These results are then extended to 2-metric spaces due to S. Gähler. In addition, a well-known theorem of T. Suzuki that generalized the Banach Contraction Principle is also extended to 2-metric spaces and applied to obtain a coincidence theorem for a pair of mappings on an arbitrary set with values in a 2-metric space. Further, we prove the existence of coincidence and fixed points of Ćirić type weakly generalized contractions in metric spaces. Subsequently, the above result is utilized to discuss applications to the convergence of modified Mann and Ishikawa iterations in a convex metric space. Finally, we obtain coincidence, fixed and stationary point results for multi-valued and hybrid pairs of mappings on a metric space.

From problem-sovling to improvisation in filmmaking : Production of "Falling Grief" and "Circadian Anguish"

Chow, Jackel (Wing Hang) January 2020 (has links)
This exposition provides the insight of indeterminacy during improvisation, as well as the reflection process of how I converted my problems-solving skills to planned improvisation during the adverse filming condition of my graduation feature film production. I define Improvisation as a way to be adaptive and flexible in uncertainty, while problem- solving as a solution to overcome the obstacles faced. I started from an ambitious goal by making a feature length hybrid film for my graduation showcase in my two years of master study. Facing problems like lack of money, insufficient network to find talents and limited time to acquire local knowledge of the working styles in the country, I met a lot of challenges. When I solved the problems one by one within this filmmaking process, I gradually realized I relied quite a lot on improvisation. It does not only apply on the set when I worked with the actors, but also on scriptwriting, crew recruiting, locations scouting, shots creation, etc. The turning point for me to change from coincidental (unplanned) improvisation (because it is needed with problem solving) to deliberate (planned) improvisation started from my second half of principal photography (or simply called production/filming) stage because more uncertainty emerged and I started to get used to such style. At the end, I made two versions of the films with different levels of improvisational practice. I will reflect my whole filmmaking process and its connection with improvisation from my film products.

On the Measurement of Angular Dependent Sound Transmission through Airborne Supercritical Plates

Shaw, Matthew D. 10 August 2011 (has links) (PDF)
A method of measuring angular dependence of acoustic transmission through supercritical plates in air is discussed. The coincidence effect occurs in a supercritical plate when the component of the acoustic wave number parallel to the plate matches the bending wave number in the plate. The transmission of sound is a maximum at the angle where this trace wave number matching occurs. The theory of the coincidence effect is well-defined for unbounded thin plates using plane-wave excitation. However, experimental results for finite plates are known to diverge from theory, especially near grazing angles. An experimental setup has been developed in order to observe the coincidence effect using continuous-wave excitation and phased-array methods. Experimental results through a 0.5 mm thick aluminum bar exhibit strong maxima at the predicted coincidence angles, showing that coincidence is observable using continuous waves. Also, transmission near grazing angles is seen to diverge from infinite plate theory. Further work is suggested to improve the measurement setup and explore the source of the divergence.
