Esta dissertação tem por objetivo elaborar um Catálogo de Imagens que pretende identificar a representação arquitetônica na collage ao longo do século XX, através das obras mais relevantes de artistas e arquitetos. Trata -se de explora r as representações arquitetônicas nas collages e as collages nas representações arquitetônicas, e visualizar essa familiaridade entre os processos de representação artística e de produção arquitetônica. Para isso vamos recorrer aos aspectos conceituais da collage, extraídos das análises já efetuadas por diferentes autores como Fernando Fuão, Simón Fiz, Sergio Lima e outros. Este trabalho visa também demonstrar o quanto este procedimento da collage é inerente à produção arquitetônica.

Ce mémoire, scindé tout au long de ses chapitres entre deux projets distincts de caractérisation de matériaux, présente les aspects expérimentaux d'une étude sur les joints d'aluminium collés d'une part et les matériaux composites à fibres courtes orientées aléatoirement d'autre part.Ce travail s'est effectué au sein d'une entreprise ; ceci explique l'importance accordée à une approche industrielle des sujets de recherche. La revue de littérature sur ces secteurs innovants a permis d'influencer les choix techniques et d'orienter les étapes pratiques. Les propriétés de base, notamment en termes de rigidité et de résistance, ont été caractérisées à l'aide de tests mécaniques normalisés. D'autres mesures ont aussi été faites par des méthodes plus variées comme la microscopie, les ultrasons, l'analyse thermomécanique. Finalement, les résultats ont permis de mieux connaître ces matériaux et les technologies associées (pour le collage notamment) et de procurer des données expérimentales fiables et concrètes en vue d'une optimisation des structures faisant appel à ces techniques. Dans le cas du collage, l'importance du traitement de surface a été prouvée, et plusieurs paramètres intervenant dans ce procédé d'assemblage ont pu être étudiés (température, épaisseur du joint, géométrie). La résistance importante du collage a aussi été démontrée, tant en statique (21 MPa) qu'en limite d'endurance. Pour l'étude des composites, les points faibles d'une coque de bateau ont pu être identifiés et une classification des propriétés dans la structure proposée (trois zones de résistances comprises entre 21 et 36 MPa). L'impact de la densité de la résine et de la quantité de fibres, de même que l'influence de l'orientation des fibres ont été abordés dans ce problème. Enfin, une étude en flexion a permis de chiffrer un écart de 35,4 % entre la déformation relevée à la fissure du revêtement gel-coat, en surface donc uniquement esthétique, et celle du composite lors de son bris structural.

My work reflects the change, growth, metamorphosis, duality, and balance that exists in my life. I focus on the process of change and necessity for adaptation. I’m interested in finding balance among the chaos of everyday living. I’m an observer, an introvert, and a thinker. I see and experience opposing forces all around me. Some are simple observations, such as good versus evil, chaos versus order, organic versus geometric, while some are more personal, such as anxiety versus depression, conflict between the inner versus outer self, disorganization versus obsessive compulsive. I’m fascinated by the delicate point at which opposing forces meet to create balance. I use a variety of papers, found objects, fiber, paint, drawing, and stitching to represent things that are picked up along my journey. Using a variety of materials and imagery represents the chaos of life. Editing, rearranging, dissecting, and reassembling these materials and imagery with deliberate choice are a way to balance the chaos I see and experience to take back control.

In creating my work I use bold, bright colors and fundamental shapes and patterns. My images reflect how I view the world and genuinely express my imagination, feelings, and thinking. Working this way allows me to apply a symbolic face to personal concerns, beliefs, fears, ideologies, and philosophies. I see a world where life and art blend to create images of triumph and tragedy, joy and pain, or growth and change. My ideas have grown from the desire to understand myself as a woman, as a Christian, and as a unique individual. Dealing with personal questions, I explore the varying relationships between popular culture and self-perception. Another source for my work are philosophical themes, along with political and social commentary. I want my messages to not only touch the heart and soul of people but convey a message that they will remember.

A l’heure actuelle, le marché de l’électronique de puissance est dominé par les composants silicium. Néanmoins, de nouveaux matériaux comme le nitrure de gallium ont émergé dans ce domaine grâce à leurs propriétés intéressantes. Ces nouveaux composants sont principalement réalisés sur des substrats silicium ce qui induit certaines problématiques lors de leur fabrication ou au niveau de leurs performances. Nous nous sommes intéressés dans cette thèse à des approches d’un point de vue du substrat dans l’objectif de résoudre ces problématiques. Ce travail a permis notamment de mettre en place une succession de procédés technologiques afin de remplacer le substrat silicium de fabrication par d’autres matériaux pour améliorer les performances de ces composants. Cette approche a notamment permis de transférer des composants fonctionnels sur un substrat cuivre. L’impact électrique et thermique du remplacement du substrat initial par un nouveau matériau a été étudié. Ce travail ouvre ainsi la voie du report de composants en nitrure de gallium réalisés sur des substrats silicium de diamètre 200 mm ou plus. / New materials such as gallium nitride (GaN) emerge as promising candidates for power electronics. The current trend is to fabricate the AlGaN/GaN power devices directly on (111) silicon substrates. It makes the expitaxy of the GaN challenging and affects the device performances. In this work, we focus on substrate approaches to solve these problems. A transfer process was developed to replace the silicon substrate by another material to enhance electrical performances of the devices. Especially, GaN devices were transferred on copper substrates without electrical degradation. Electrical and thermal characterizations were performed to study the impact of the transfer. This work offers a first approach on the transfer of GaN devices from 8 or even 12 inches silicon substrates.

Ardent Dwellings is a work about longing, self-exploration, and construction of identity through the arrangement of meticulously drawn and cut paper elements. Mainly consisting of drawn dried flower forms and expressive female hands, these elements come together in deliberate arrangements of spaces and relations. The moments of sensuality resulting from these exploratory touches signify moments created through traversing bodies and identities. To achieve this exploration visually, I created a collection of eight drawing collages and a large paper installation with mixed media components.
