Amélioration a posteriori de la traduction automatique par métaheuristique

Lavoie-Courchesne, Sébastien 03 1900 (has links)
Statistical Machine Translation is a field ingreat demand and where machines are still far from producing human-level results. The main method used is a segment by segment linear translation of a sentence, which prevents modification of already translated parts of the sentence. Research for this memoir is based on an approach used by Langlais, Patry and Gotti 2007, which tries to correct a completed translation by modifying segments following a function which needs to be optimized. As a first step, exploration of new traits such as an inverted language model and a collocation model brings a new dimension to the optimization function. As a second step, use of different metaheuristics, such as the greedy and randomized greedy algorithms, allows greater depth while exploring the search space and allows a greater improvement of the objective function.

Vícejazyčná databáze kolokací / Vícejazyčná databáze kolokací

Helcl, Jindřich January 2014 (has links)
Collocations are groups of words which are co-occurring more often than appearing separately. They also include phrases that give a new meaning to a group of unrelated words. This thesis is aimed to find collocations in large data and to create a database that allows their retrieval. The Pointwise Mutual Information, a value based on word frequency, is computed for finding the collocations. Words with the highest value of PMI are considered candidates for good collocations. Chosen collocations are stored in a database in a format that allows searching with Apache Lucene. A part of the thesis is to create a Web user interface as a quick and easy way to search collocations. If this service is fast enough and the collocations are good, translators will be able to use it for finding proper equivalents in the target language. Students of a foreign language will also be able to use it to extend their vocabulary. Such database will be created independently in several languages including Czech and English. Développement d'une méthode sans maillage basée sur les approximations de Taylor / Development of a meshless method using Taylor series

Tampango, Yendoubouam 16 November 2012 (has links)
In these last decades, new numerical methods known as « meshless methods » have been developped. Contrary to the FEM, these methods uses only a set of nodes in the domain, without need of any mesh. Until now, any of these methods has convinced users of FEM. In this paper, we present a new meshless method using Taylor series expansion. In this method, the PDE is solved quasi exactly in the domain and the boundary conditions are applied by using a least square method. Then only the boundary discretisation is needed so the proposed method is a « true boundary meshless method ». This technique has been proposed for the first time by S. Zeze in his PhD thesis. The study of some linear problems has shown that this technique leads to a very good accuracy and that the convergence can be improved by increasing approximation degree. Our work is a continuation of S. Zeze work, and it consists to make the proposed method more robust and to extend its range of application. For that, we first make an analysis of the series computed by the method. The aim of this analysis was to evaluate the domain of validity of these series. This analysis showed that, for some problems, an accuracy cannot be obtained without splitting the domain in subdomains and making a resolution by subdomains. Therefore the second part of our work was to define a technique which will ensure the continuity at the interface between subdomains, in the case of a resolution by subdomains. The last part of our work was dedicated to non-linear problems. We establish an algorithm to show how the proposed method can deal with nonlinear-problems

'Enxergando' as colocações: para ajudar a vencer o medo de um texto autêntico. / Learning collocations: to help read a text.

Louro, Inês da Conceição dos Anjos 27 August 2001 (has links)
Este trabalho lida com unidades lexicais compostas por mais de uma palavra usadas com função referencial,ou seja, cada uma dessas unidades lexicais constitui um nome. Em uma sala de aula de ensino de língua inglesa para brasileiros, observou-se como o fato de o aluno 'enxergar' essas unidades lexicais pode ajudá-lo a ler um texto. / This study is about multi-word lexical units which have referential meaning, i.e., each unit is used as a name. In an English teaching classroom for Brazilian students it was noticed that making students aware of such lexical units may help them read a text.

Working closely with corpora. Proposta de ensino de colocações adverbiais em inglês para negócios, sob a luz da Linguística de Corpus / Working closely with corpora. A proposal for teaching typical adverbial collocations in Business English, based on Corpus Linguistics principles

Andrea Geroldo dos Santos 25 October 2011 (has links)
The aim of this work is to put forward a proposal for teaching typical adverbial collocations in Business English, based on Corpus Linguistics principles. To accomplish that, we compiled a monolingual corpus in British and American English, composed of business press texts as well as company reports available on-line, totalling 2,310,429 words. With the use of Wordsmith Tools 5.0 and statistical scores (T-score and Mutual Information), we found the twenty-five most frequent adverbial collocations, which were lexically and grammatically analysed concerning their patterns. Next, from these collocational units we selected the ones which could be approached in class, following the criteria set by the researcher, based on Tim Johns DDL (JOHNS, 1991), Carters modelling (CARTER, 1998) and the objections raised concerning the use of concordance lines for language teaching. Thus, we planned exercises to be applied in three pilot studies, carried out with Business English students at a private language school in São Paulo, Brazil, at the following levels: preintermediate, intermediate and upper-intermediate. The three studies demonstrated that such exercises can be successfully used in Business English classes thus confirming the relevance of Corpus Linguistics as an approach to language teaching.

As colocações verbais em três dicionários bilíngues e bilemáticos de alemão-português / The verbal collocations in three bilingual and bilemmatical german-portuguese dictionaries

Mahler, Nara Cristina Sanseverino 06 November 2009 (has links)
This research belongs to the area of knowledge called Lexicography and treats of the insertions of verbal collocations in bilingual and bilemmatical German- Portuguese dictionaries. Considering that the majority of the didactic books of German as foreign language does not treat them properly, it is necessary that the learner looks them up in dictionaries at the moment of the decoding as well as when coding texts. For this research we selected a certain number of verbal collocations considered fundamental to the formation of a basic vocabulary for routine communication situations, checking in three dictionaries if they occur and how they occur, in an attempt to establish how these dictionaries represent an effective help not only for comprehension but also for text production.

USING CORPORA IN A LEXICALIZED STYLISTICS APPROACH TO TEACHING ENGLISH-AS-A-FOREIGN-LANGUAGE LITERATURE

Aljuhani, Hind S 01 March 2016 (has links)
As a lingua franca across the globe, English plays a vital role in international communications. Due to rapid economic, political, and educational globalization, the English language has become a powerful means of communication. Therefore, English education is vital to the development of many countries around the world. Since 1932, the need for a lingua franca in Saudi Arabia developed as the country progressed politically, economically, and educationally. Now, English is important to Saudis’ economic, educational, and career development and success. Vocabulary is a major step in learning any language. By deepening students’ lexical knowledge, they will be able to use English accurately to express themselves. However, teaching words in isolation and through memorization is not highly effective; English-as-a-foreign-language (EFL) learners need to interact with the language and its usage in a more profound way. This can be done by integrating corpora and stylistics analysis in an EFL curriculum. The importance of stylistics analysis to literary texts in the EFL classroom lies in the way that EFL learners will be exposed to authentic language. At the same time they will get insight into how English is structured; and by accessing corpora, which provide a wide range of data for the analysis of stylistics, students will be able to compare the lexical and grammatical patterns in authentic texts. Also, it is important to introduce students to the different levels of English (i.e. semantic, lexis, morphology); this will enlarge EFL learners’ knowledge of English vocabulary and various grammatical patterns. This project offers an innovative perspective on how to teach English for EFL university-level students by using corpora in a lexicalized stylistics approach, which will enable EFL learners to acquire vocabulary by reading literary texts. This provides a rich environment of lexical items and a variety of grammatical patterns. This approach offers EFL learners analytical tools that will improve their linguistic skills as they interact with and analyze authentic examples of English and gain insight about its historical, social and cultural background.
