本研究選擇頗受國際財經專業雜誌肯定的個案銀行為例,個案銀行連續多年被國際財經專業雜誌選為台灣地區最佳銀行,在台灣市場的外匯交易、貿易融資、現金管理、網路銀行、財富管理、投資銀行、債券交易與聯貸等業務皆於國內同業領先之地位。本研究試圖分析目前台灣銀行業與個案銀行在現行的海外市場營運面臨之問題與挑戰,並探究個案銀行如何依循其企業願景,擬定海外擴張策略,並決定經營目標和經營方針,然後透過新商業模式的建立,將其所擁有的資源,進行分配和調整,複製台灣成功經驗,建置亞太地區交易型金融平台,有效連結海外分行平台,使得銀行可以建立以客戶為中心的核心價值,以經營客戶全面關係管理為主軸,深入掌握不同客戶區隔的需求與市場脈動,提供最貼切的金融解決方案與服務,以獲得可持續之競爭優勢。 / As a combined result of globalization, economic zone integration, and increased cross strait openness stipulated by WTO rules, Taiwan’s banking industry is now experiencing both intense challenges and increased opportunities. As Taiwanese companies have become more internationalized and Taiwan’s local banking market remains hypercompetitive – Taiwan banks have increasingly focused on building up overseas platforms to meet customers’ financial needs. In short, maintaining competitiveness and growth expectations within this dynamic business environment is a top goal for Taiwanese banks.
In our research we look at “Case Bank”, which has been designated ‘The Best Bank in Taiwan’ by several financial magazines. Case Bank is a market leader in FX trade, transactional based lending products, cash management, net banking services, wealth and investment management, bond trading, and syndication. Our research assesses the challenges that both Case Bank and other Taiwanese banks face with respect to overseas platforms. Our study also looks at how Case Bank has executed its overseas strategic objectives including, management strategy, business objectives, resource allocation, transaction platforms, and networking synergies.
Overall, our research concludes that Taiwan banks’ best practices with respect to developing overseas business model include: focus on customer-centric core values, relationship management, understanding demand by segment and industry, and providing superior financial solutions.

With the 1980s, as a result of economic and financial deregulation policies, housing finance systems in most countries have had great transformations and have become market-oriented. Recently, in Turkey, a draft law was submitted to the parliament which can be regarded as an attempt to integrate housing finance to capital markets through the establishment of secondary market for housing loans extended by commercial banks. In this thesis, it is aimed to evaluate the role of housing loans extended by commercial banks on housing finance in Turkey, to assess the prospective legal regulation in terms of lenders and borrowers of housing loans and to discuss the anticipated impacts of this scheme to the commercial banks, the housing loans and borrowers within the context of global trends in housing finance. For these purposes, housing files extended by commercial banks have been examined and in-dept interviews have been conducted with interviewees from commercial banks, Capital Market Board and Housing Development Administration. As a result, it is found out that the role of housing loans extended by commercial banks is very limited in housing finance in Turkey and only high income groups can access these loans. Moreover, it is explicit that the housing finance scheme in the draft law is entirely market-oriented and targets the middle and upper income groups. On the other hand, such a policy orientation is quite problematic and paradoxical in that / the housing problem in Turkey is most dramatically felt by the lower middle and low income groups.

Šiuo metu Lietuvoje kredito sektoriuje šalia komerciniu banku veikia smulkios
kooperatinės finansinės institucijos – kredito unijos. Kredito unijos – kooperatiniais
pagrindais suskurta kredito įstaiga, teikianti įvairias finansines paslaugas tik savo nariams:
priima indėlius, suteikia paskolas, teikia kitas paslaugas, savo lėšomis remia verslo pradžia ir
plėtra, vykdo įvairius projektus. Kredito unijos yra sukurtos fizinių asmenų, mažų įmonių
atstovų, žemdirbių, ūkininkų iniciatyva, todėl kredito unijų išduodamos savitarpio paskolos
yra skirtos mažesnes nei vidutines pajamas gaunantiems klientams bei smulkiam verslui
remti.
Šiuo metu Lietuvoje kredito sektoriuje šalia komercinių bankų veikia smulkios
kooperatinės finansinės institucijos – kredito unijos. Kredito unijos pagal valdymo struktūra,
kapitalo formavimą nėra analogiškos komerciniams bankams institucijos.
Šio baigiamojo darbo pagrindinis tikslas – ištirti kredito unijų teisinį statusą Lietuvos
Respublikos finansų sistemoje bei išanalizuoti kredito unijų vystymosi perspektyvas Europos
Sąjungos ir Lietuvos finansų sistemoje.
Pagrindinė darbo problema, ar pakankamai sureguliuota teisiškai kredito unijų
veikla. Išanalizavus įstatymus ir kitus norminius aktus, padaryta išvada, kad Lietuvoje gan
gerai reglamentuojama kredito unijų veikla, nes kredito unijos narių skaičius didėja ir kredito

A credit union is a credit institution, established on a cooperative basis, which supplies various financial services to its members. Credit unions are usually established by the initiative of natural persons, representatives of small enterprises and farmers, therefore mutual credits provided by credit unions are targeted at clients with lower than average income as well as to support small business.

The Impact of Enterprise Risk Management on the Performance of Chinese Commercial BanksJanuary 2018 (has links)
abstract: Chinese commercial banks have experienced a period of fast and stable development since 2007. The adoption of a comprehensive enterprise risk management (ERM) system based on the Basel Accords was a significant event for the banking supervisory authority and the commercial banks during this period. This study investigates the impact of ERM adoption on the financial performance of the commercial banks as well as the underlying mechanisms using longitudinal data of 96 commercial banks from 2007 to 2016. Results from quantitative analyses suggest the following findings. First, ERM adoption had a positive impact on commercial banks’ financial performance after controlling for the negative impacts of factors such as macro economic conditions and fiscal and monetary policies. Second, although this positive impact was partially attributed to increased risk appetite after the adoption of ERM, results show that ERM adoption also increased risk-adjusted financial performance. Lastly, ERM adoption improved commercial banks’ competence in risk management, as indicated by their sensitivity of financial returns to risk exposures. The above findings also received support from interviews and surveys of senior executives of commercial banks and officials of the banking supervisory authorities.
This study contributes to the understanding of how the adoption of ERM influences the financial performance of Chinese commercial banks, and has important practical implications. Based on the empirical findings, I recommend all commercial banks in China to adopt and implement ERM so that they can better cope with the challenges presented by macroeconomic uncertainty, marketization, and internationalization. In the process, it is critical for them to understand the mechanisms through which ERM influences their performance. Meanwhile, they shall be aware of the operational costs associated with the initial adoption of ERM, learn from the experiences of those that have already adopted ERM, and have a long-term orientation about performance effect of ERM adoption. The framework for cross-border banking in East Africa: a case for the Kenya Commercial BankOkoche, John Michael Maxel 11 1900 (has links)
Abstract in English, Afrikaans and Setswana / The study aimed to develop an appropriate cross-border banking framework for
competitiveness in East Africa. To this end, Kenya Commercial Bank was chosen as
case study, as it allowed for an examination of global, multi-domestic and transnational
cross-border competitiveness strategies. The political and sociocultural environments
were the moderating variables for the study, while the sub-variables of competitive
advantage were efficiency, risk management, learning and innovation.
A mixed methods sequential approach was utilised, with the quantitative
approach employing a cross-sectional survey research design as framework, while
probability and nonprobability sampling techniques were used for collecting quantitative
and qualitative data respectively. Both close- and open-ended questions were used.
The quantitative phase of the study sampled 217 potential participants and
received 168 responses, which is a response rate of 77 per cent. Data were analysed
using SPSS software, which provided descriptive and inferential statistics. Thereafter, a
framework for cross-border banking was developed, using regression analysis.
The qualitative phase of the research employed a case study design, with
interviews being conducted with employees of Kenya Commercial Bank. To this end,
purposive, convenience and snowball sampling was utilised. In addition, qualitative data
were processed and analysed through the use of MAXQDA software.
Trustworthiness and rigour were enhanced by transcribing the interviews and
reviewing them for accuracy. The quantitative and qualitative data were subsequently
synthesised, taking into account their points of convergence and divergence.
The study finally established that the most appropriate framework for
competitiveness was to strategically integrate multi-domestic and global strategies, and
moderate these by taking into account prevailing political and sociocultural
environments. Elements for global configuration included centralisation, standard
procedures, similar policies, organisational structures, global dynamics and global
appeal. By contrast, the critical elements for a multi-domestic strategy included
decentralisation, different procedures/policies/organisational structures and marketing
approaches, flexibility, local responsiveness, as well as local dynamics and local
appeal. / Hierdie studie is daarop gemik om ’n gepaste oorgrens-bankweseraamwerk vir
mededingendheid in Oos-Afrika te ontwikkel. Met hierdie doel voor oë is die Kenya
Commercial Bank as gevallestudie gekies, omdat dit die navorsers in staat gestel het
om wêreldwye, multibinnelandse en transnasionale oorgrens-mededingendheidstrategieë te ondersoek. Die politieke en sosiokulturele omgewings is die
moderatorveranderlikes vir die studie, terwyl doeltreffendheid, risikobestuur, leer en
innovering die subveranderlikes van mededingingsvoordeel is.
’n Opeenvolgende gemengemetodes-benadering is gevolg – die kwantitatiewe
benadering maak gebruik van ’n deursnee-opname-navorsingsontwerp as raamwerk,
terwyl waarskynlikheid- en nie-waarskynlikheid-steekproefnemingstegnieke gebruik is
om onderskeidelik kwantitatiewe en kwalitatiewe data in te samel. Geslote vrae én oop

The purpose of writing a master's thesis is to analyze the state of the banking sector from the perspective of reducing the number of valid licenses, suggest possible approaches to determining whether there is evidence of a possible revocation of a license from a credit institution and provide a forward-looking estimate of the further development of the banking sector. During the work, an analysis was made of the state of the banking sector of the country when revoking the license; identified and identified signs that can warn banks from the ban on the conduct of banking operations on the basis of the seven banks in the country, which allowed to assess the impact of revocation of a license for the development of the banking system of the Russian Federation. / Магистерская диссертация посвящена вопросам анализа отзыва лицензий у коммерческих банков. Цель написания магистерской диссертации – на основе анализа состояния банковского сектора с позиции сокращения количества действующих лицензий, предложить возможные подходы к определению наличия признаков возможного отзыва лицензии у кредитной организации и дать прогнозную оценку по дальнейшему развитию банковского сектора. В ходе работы был проведен анализ состояния банковского сектора страны при отзыве лицензии; выявлены и определены признаки, способные предостеречь банки от запрета на осуществление банковских операций на основе рассмотренных 7 банков страны.
