Informationsarkitektur, en fråga om designprinciper : En studie av Content Management Systems informationsarkitektur / Information architecture, a question of design principles : A study of Content Management Systems information architecture

Byvik, Joakim, Haji Karimian, Victor January 2019 (has links)
This study aims to answer the questions whether Content Management Systems follow basic information architecture principles whilst designing and developing its systems. The study outlines the three basic areas within information architecture; labeling, information structure and organization, and navigation systems and establishes hypothesis based on the theory surrounding these areas. The hypothesis were also used to define the information architecture principles that we used to test the Content Management Systems WordPress, Joomla!, and Drupal on. The study shows a couple of interesting things in its analysis of the Content Management Systems. Firstly that Content management systems follow basic information architecture principles. But they do so in different ways, but also in ways that are similar to each other. The use of labels, types of navigation systems and information structure were similar between the systems. The differences showed in the underlying systems where more local navigation systems changed and the information schemes used to categorize information differed. The study concluded that Content Management Systems information architecture are designed based on established principles.

Building an application for the writing process

Lele, Amod Jayant 18 November 2016 (has links)
The idea that writing is a process and not a product is now generally accepted in writing education, but discussions of digital scholarly communication often neglect the idea, in theory and in practice. This thesis report introduces a Mac OS X software package to support the early stages of the writing process, called Brouillon. Brouillon’s features include: the concatenation of discrete note files into notebooks; notes appearing in multiple notebooks; note intake from mobile devices via Dropbox; and an open standard file format. The report also provides a model of the organization of products of the writing process, with a focus on Brouillon’s most unusual feature, multi-notebook notes. It discusses difficulties in implementation and identifies possibilities for future improvement.

Active support for instructors and students in an online learning environment

Hansen, Collene Fey 11 September 2007
By opening the learner model to both the learner and other peers within an e-learning system, the learner gains control over his or her learner model and is able to reflect on the contents presented in the model. Many current modeling systems translate an existing model to fit the context when information is needed. This thesis explores the observation that information in the model depends on the context in which it is generated and describes a method of generating the model for the specific user and purpose. The main advantage of this approach is that exactly the right information is generated to suit the context and needs of the learner. To explore the benefits and possible downsides of this approach, a learner model Query Tool was implemented to give instructors and learners the opportunity to ask specific questions (queries) of the content delivery system hosting several online courses. Information is computed in real time when the query is run by the instructor, so the data is always up-to-date. Instructors may then choose to allow students to run the query as well, enabling learner reflection on their progress in the course as the instructor has defined it. I have called this process active open learner modelling, referring to the open learner modelling community where learner models are accessible by learners for reflective purposes, and referring to the active learner modelling community which describes learner modelling as a context-driven process. Specific research questions explored in this thesis include "how does context affect the modelling process when learner models are opened to users", "how can privacy be maintained while useful information is provided", and "can an accurate and useful learner model be computed actively".

Design And Implementation Of An Ontology Extraction Framework And A Semantic Search Engine Over Jsr-170 Compliant Content Repositories

Aluc, Gunes 01 July 2009 (has links) (PDF)
A Content Management System (CMS) is a software application for creating, publishing, editing and managing content. The future step in content management system development is building intelligence over existing content resources that are heterogeneous in nature. Intelligence collected at the knowledge base can later on be used for executing semantic queries. Expressing the relations among content resources with ontological formalisms is therefore the key to implementing such semantic features. In this work, a methodology for the semantic lifting of JSR-170 compliant content repositories to ontologies is devised. The fact that in the worst case JSR-170 enforces no particular structural restrictions on the content model poses a technical challenge both for the initial build-up and further synchronization of the knowledge base. To address this problem, some recurring structural patterns in JSR-170 compliant content repositories are exploited. The value of the ontology extraction framework is assessed through a semantic search mechanism that is built on top of the extracted ontologies. The work in this thesis is complementary to the &ldquo / Interactive Knowledge Stack for small to medium CMS/KMS providers (IKS)&rdquo / project funded by the EC (FP7-ICT-2007-3).

Analys av innehållshanteringssystem

Axelsson, Sten, Hanzén, Magnus January 2008 (has links)
<p>It has in a broader extent become important for companies and other organizations with large organizations to have a properly functioning web platform where content management is an essential part. Polopoly is a web content management system developed in Sweden, used by several European corporations but foremost Scandinavian such working in different media related business areas.</p><p>Our aim has been to analyze this tool and render a report which hopefully will assist the initiator of our thesis; a consulting enterprise called Qurius, in their negotiations with future customers, when to suggest Polopoly as a suitable content management solution.</p><p>By using case studies at companies currently using Polopoly, our goal is to define which characteristic makes the product a competitive publishing tool. To put our analysis in perspective, we will compare the most important aspects of Polopoly with a similar product.</p><p>According to the results of our investigation we consider Polopoly being a beneficial choice with regard to a number of important parameters. Finally we have summarized these properties in a list of examples explaining in which cases Polopoly is a preferable alternative as a web based content management platform.</p>

Αρχιτεκτονική συστημάτων διαχείρισης περιεχομένου, τεχνικές διαχείρισης περιεχομένου και υλοποίηση σχετικής εφαρμογής

Καπαγεωργόπουλος, Σπυρίδων 27 April 2015 (has links)
The evolution of the Content Management systems provides more complex services towards users. In parallel, various design patterns and modern technologies, which are suggested by the scientific community, are implemented for these systems, in order to confront issues such as digital data transportation and implementation of business logic. As a result, the system developers and designers of the applications are able to configure the system via a sophisticated environment with APIs and using modern programming techniques and technologies. In addition, the benefits we gain using standards and techniques appear during the process of developing new tools, the communication between different Content Management Systems and on solving common problems. This essay focuses on various design patterns, programming techniques and standards, which apply in implementing famous Content Management Systems. Our main goal is the suggestion of issues related to the content management techniques and the evaluation of tools, which are used by the modern Content Management Systems, such as Drupal, Documentum and Alfresco. Eventually, a system was implemented, which concerns the communication between the Drupal and a remote repository. More specifically, Web Services, Database with useful material and several Drupal modules were designed and implemented. The main purpose of this approach is the suggestion of a sophisticated environment, in order to manage information out of the Drupal repository, using the benefits of modular architecture. The technologies that were used for the implementation on Drupal environment were PHP, XHTML, Javascript, AJAX and for the implementation of the remote system were EJBs, JPA and Web Services (Proxy, Business Services).

Organizacijų portalų turinio valdymo sitemų sudarymas ir tyrimas / Implementation and investigation of content management system designed for organizations portals

Kukulskis, Linas 27 May 2004 (has links)
There are a lot of freeware and commercial content management systems developed by IT companies and individual developers. Notwithstanding the diversity of these content management systems, all of them have one single purpose – manage content of the web site by separating presentation from business logic. This document investigates a content management system designed to be used by organizations. The model of a trivial content management system is modified into the content management system for organizations by introducing concepts of information objects and a structure of an organization. An experiment has been carried out to test the new content management system model. The experiment results proved the assumption that the suggested new content management system model is more effective than the trivial content management system model.

Turinio valdymas prekybos ir klientų aptarnavimo sistemoje / Content Management in Commerce and Customer Service System

Bartuška, Paulius 02 June 2004 (has links)
Appropriate information in time has developed to a main business resource and requires the same professional management as conventional means of production. However, the huge supplies as well as the customary decentralized storage are aggravating the effective handling of information. Content management approaches to unify the administration of relevant information. There are developing a vast number of software products which aim to apply this concept. However, a clear definition of content management does not exist and thus, the market offers a variety of solutions. This master thesis analyzes content management systems which represent different aspects of content management, such as Web content management, collaboration in Intranets or management of multimedia. As a basis, general comparison criterions are developed, which orientate to the content life cycle. Examples of application areas for each system conclude the comparison.
