Garcés Miguel, Pedro 27 November 2009 (has links)
Power supply for microprocessor boards is a great challenge, nowadays, in the field of power converters design for VRM. Microprocessors are exigent loads which require high current and low voltage, and also must react very fast to changes in consumption besides a voltage narrow tolerance range. This thesis analyzes several converters topologies and their controllers which satisfy the VRM requirements. The thesis proposes a new converter topology which has the fastest, among the analyzed topologies, behavior in front of abrupt consumption demand besides a high voltage reduction-ratio. We derive the design expressions for the DC-DC converter and the controller parameters according to the VRM specifications. The analysis has been corroborated by means of PSIM simulator. Simulation waveforms show a perfect agreement with previous analytical derivation.

Teaching Styles And Learning Strategies Of Illinois Secondary Career And Technical Education Teachers

McCaskey, Stephen Jack 01 January 2009 (has links)
AN ABSTRACT FOR THE DISSERTATION OF STEPHEN JACK MCCASKEY, for the Doctor of Philosophy Degree in EDUCATION, presented on June, 2009, at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. TITLE: TEACHING STYLES AND LEARING STRATEGIES OF ILLINOIS SECONDARY CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCAITON TEACHERS MAJOR PROFESSORS: Dr. Marcia Anderson Dr. John Washburn The purpose of this study was to identify the teaching styles and learning strategy preferences of secondary CTE teachers in the state of Illinois. This study explored variables related to the teaching-learner transaction for teachers with varied educational backgrounds. Further, this study examined the relationship between teaching styles and several demographic variables and the relationship between learning strategies and several demographic variables for teachers in the CTE field. Participants involved in this study were members of the Illinois Association of Career and Technical Education (IACTE) at the time of the study. Demographic data revealed most respondents were female and age varied between 20 to 73 years with the highest percentage of responses being between the ages of 51-55. The majority of respondent ethnicity was White. The number of years teaching among respondents varied from 0 to 41 with the highest percentage having less than six years. The highest percentage of respondents held a Master's degree and the highest percentage in which the respondents most frequently teach is Technology Education/Industrial Education. The certificate type that most respondents hold is a Type 09 Standard. This study employed two standardized instruments and a questionnaire assessment to address four research questions. The Principles of Adult Learning Scales (PALS) was the first instrument used in this study and is designed to assist individuals in identifying their teaching style. Assessing the Learning Strategies of Adults (ATLAS) was the second instrument used in this study and is designed to quickly identify learning strategies. The online questionnaire was administered by placing the instruments on the Department of Workforce Education and Development's server at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. The majority of respondents in this study identified Problem Solvers as their preferred learning strategy followed by Navigators and Engagers. The respondents of this study represented an overwhelming commitment to the teacher-centered style. Based on the results of this study, the analyses of data were used to create a profile of the three preferences of the learning strategies for CTE secondary teachers. Additionally, the analyses of data from this study were used to create a profile of the two types of the teaching styles for CTE secondary teachers - Teacher-centered and Student-centered.

En litteraturöversikt om compassion fatigue hos sjuksköterskor / A litterature review of compassion fatigue in nurses

Andersson, Camilla, Sandstedt, Lisa January 2017 (has links)
Diskussion: Watsons teori om mänsklig omsorg och Conti O´Hares theory of the nurse as a wounded healer användes som teoretiska referensramar. / Background: Compassion fatigue among nurses is described as a reduced ability to feel empathy due to being exposed to other peoples trauma, at the same time empathy is seen as one of the core values in nursing. Many nurses lack knowledge about the subject but affected nurses describes it as an overwhelmingly feeling that something is wrong. This may lead to a lot of nurses thinking about leaving the profession. Aim: The purpose was to identify the factors that lead to compassion fatigue in nurses. Method: A literature review according to Friberg´s method that is based on eleven quantitative articles and one qualitative article. Results: The results were presented on the basis of four themes: empathy, feelings of guilt and morol distress, personal and social factors, work related and organizational factors and also age, work experience and professionalism. Some of the factors that cause compassion fatigue were degree of empathetic ability and personal coping strategies. Discussion: Watson´s theory of human caring and Conti O´Hare´s theory of the nurse as a wounded healer was used as theoretical frame of reference. Watson describes empathy as one of the core values in her theory of human caring, at the same time the results of the literature review showed that nurses with a higher degree of empathy were at higher risk to develop compassion fatigue. This can be seen as contradictory when empathy is a condition in caring. Conti O´Hare´s theory and the result agree in the regard that if trauma is not handled in a positive way it may lead to illness.

Feliciter ! / Feliciter ! From Merovingian to Eastern Kingdoms : research on elites and ways of expressing power during Middle Ages

Nielen, Marie-Adélaïde 14 January 2019 (has links)
This thesis presents the results of research conducted over the past thirty years on the history of medieval elites.  The thesis focuses on two major topics. The first is the society of the Latin East. Publication of a genealogical text, Les lignages d’Outremer, has been followed by a series of studies of the noble families of the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem and an edition of an account of a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. The second area is royal sigillography. Studies of the seals of medieval French queens and their children constitute one facet of this research, whereas examination of the seals found on 250 diplomas in the Archives nationales has facilitated exploration of the seals of Merovingian and Carolingian kings and emperors. The discovery of human hair in the seals has prompted the search for possible explanations of this phenomenon, which are proposed and discussed in different parts of the dossier, particularly in an appendix, "De anolo." An additional, supplementary part of my work has focused on the conservation of seals and the development of methods to prevent their deterioration.

The life and works of Joseph Kohaut (1734-1777) as a contributor to the study of the migration of musicians in Enlightenment Europe / Život a dílo Josefa Kohouta (1734–1777) jako příklad migrace hudebníků v osvícenské Evropě

Franková, Jana 26 February 2016 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the musical career of Joseph Kohaut (1734–1777), one of the last known lute players in Europe of the Enlightenment. Belonging to the second generation of the musicians originated from the Czech lands, this lutenist, born in Vienna and dead in Paris, represents an interesting case of the migration of musicians in the 18th century Europe. After having examinated the origines of the musician and his close family (his father Jacob Joseph Kohaut and his older brother Karl Kohaut), the study analyses his own musical career. The aristocratic patronage becomes apparent as an important reason for his musical production, including his comic operas that made him famous also outside France. Finally, this study addresses the compositions of both brothers Kohaut, taking interest in problematic attributions, and offers a thematic catalogue of all works registering their all known sources.
