Intervention med responsiva talakter inom AKK hos två deltagare med cerebral pares i Tanzania : en single subject design-studie / Intervention of Responsive Speech Acts Using AAC for Two Participants with Cerebral Palsy in Tanzania : A Single Subject Design-Study

Torstensson, Maja, Vinblad, Elin January 2012 (has links)
In several developing countries there are a limited supply of developed AAC systems (Alant, 1999) whereas a lack of knowledge about the possibilities of working with communication problems (Marshall, 1997). The present study is an intervention study about the introduction of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) for two participants with cerebral palsy at a day-care centre in the Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania. The purpose of the intervention study was to develop responsive speech acts to attract attention to initiate interaction, accept and reject interaction, as well as maintain and terminate interaction. This was done using the terms yes and no to accept and reject, and more and less to continue and terminate interaction. The study followed a single subject design consisting of two intervention periods, where direct intervention with the participants and continuing training and guidance for the staff occurred. The results show that the participants in varying degrees, has learned to attract attention to initiate interaction, accept and reject interaction as well as to maintain and terminate interaction. It was also observed that the participants learned to use the performative speech acts outside the controlled test situation. An area further discussed is the participants’ communicative acts as shown in The Communication Matrix, which displayed a development from pre linguistic models of expression to use the abstract symbols.

Παναγιωτόπουλος, Ηλίας 05 February 2015 (has links)
We study time-periodic and spatially localized solutions in discrete dynamical systems describing Hamiltonian lattices in one spatial dimension. These solutions are called discrete breathers (DBs) or intrinsic localized modes (ILM). Necessary conditions for their occurrence are the boundedness of the spectrum of linear oscillations of the system as well as the nonlinearity of the equations of motion. More specifically, we focus on a Klein Gordon lattice and present an existence proof for such solutions, as well as numerical results revealing the stability (or instability) of DBs using Floquet theory. Besides reporting on the classical Klein Gordon model with nearest neighbor interactions, we also introduce long range interactions in our model, which are controlled by a parameter α and study the effect of varying the range of interactions on the spatial localization and the stability of a DB.

The conventional Newton’s method has been considered inadequate to obtain the maximum loading point of power systems due to the Jacobian matrix singularity. Continuation methods are efficient tools for solving this kind of problem, and different parameterizations are used to avoid the matrix singularity. This paper presents a new geometric parameterization scheme that allows the complete tracing of the PV curves without ill-conditioning problems. The proposed technique associates the robustness to the simplicity and easy understanding. The Jacobian matrix singularity is overcome by the addition of a line equation, which passes through a point in the plane, determined by the real power losses and loading factor variables, two parameters with clear physical meaning. The application of this new technique to the IEEE systems (14, 30, 57, 118 and 300 buses) and to the Brazilian systems south-southeast (638 and 787 buses) shows that the characteristics of the conventional Newton’s method are not only preserved but also improved. Several tests are carried out to compare the performance of the proposed parameterization scheme for the continuation power flow method.

Conformal Invariance and Liouville Field Theory / Invariância Conforme e Teoria de Campo de Liouville

Laura Raquel Rado Díaz 01 June 2015 (has links)
In this work, we make a brief review of the Conformal Field Theory in two dimensions,in order to understand some basic definitions in the study of the Liouville Field Theory, which has many application in theoretical physics like string theory, general relativity and supersymmetric gauge field theories. In particular, we focus on the analytic continuation of the Liouville Field Theory, context in which an interesting relation with the Chern-Simons Theory arises as an extension of its well-known relation with the Wess-Zumino-Witten model. Thus, calculating correlation functions by using the complex solutions of the Liouville Theory will be crucial aim in this work in order to test the consistency of this analytic continuation. We will consider as an application the time-like version of the Liouville Theory, which has several applications in holographic quantum cosmology and in studying tachyon condensates. Finally, we calculate the three-point function for the Wess-Zumino-Witten model for the standard Kac-Moody level k > 2 and the particular case 0 < k < 2, the latter has an interpretation in time-dependent scenarios for string theory. Here we will find an analogue relation we find by comparing the correlation function of the time-like and space-like Liouville Field Theory.

A study about maximum loading in electrical power systems.

Cristiano da Silva Silveira 25 February 2003 (has links)
This work presents a research about the continuation method applied to the power flow problem. Voltage stability definitions and concepts are described in a way to highlight and point out the differences and the similarities among several methods used to determine the maximum loading of electrical power systems. A short description of the bifurcation theory is also presented in order to show its importance to the voltage collapse studies. A technique based on automatically controlling the step size is proposed as an innovation of the continuation method. The objective of this technique is to determine the maximum loading point without the traditional need of asking the user for the initial step size. The results compare the performance between the conventional and the new method. These methods are analyzed using IEEE test systems (14, 30, 57 and 118-bus).

The main objective of this work is to evaluate the influence of varying the network parameters depending on the system frequency in studies related to the voltage security assessment of Electric Power Systems. In this sense, it is proposed a modification in the formulation of the called Governor Power Flow. Such formulation represents an alternative modeling of the power flow problem, where the system frequency can be estimated with satisfactory accuracy. It is important to highlight that in this work the proposed methodology retains full Newton formulation of the problem. From this context it is considered variations of the network parameters, such as shunt devices (capacitors and reactors) and equivalent models of transmission lines and transformers, making them dependent parameters with frequency system. It is also studied the induction motor modeling. As the network parameters, the parameters of the induction motor are modified according to the deviation of system frequency. Then voltage security assessment studies are carried out through the development and implementation of a Modified Continuation Power Flow and an Optimal Power Flow. Using these tools it is possible to evaluate the system frequency variation due to the increase of the system loading. Analyzes are also made using the eigenvalues of the Jacobian matrix associated with the proposed methodology. Finally six systems of small and medium scale are used in validation process of the proposed methodology. In addition to two tutorials small systems are used a 16 buses test system, which is created from real data and operating conditions found in the Interconnected Brazilian System, the well know New England system and the IEEE-118 buses test systems, which are systems commonly used in the literature. The ANATEM program, developed by CEPEL, is used to validate the developments made in this work.

Cohen-Héliot, Inbal 07 November 2014 (has links)
Bankruptcy proceedings law is a branch of law that combines different legal disciplines that as different as hardly compatible with each other. More often than not, the initiation of collective proceedings affects intellectual property rights which represent a significant part of the assets of companies whatever the sector and whatever the undertakings irrespective of the sector concerned and whatever the intellectual property in question. This period gives rise to multiple conflicts of interest insofar as the opposing views reflect the difficulties related to the overlap between the mechanisms that are specific to intellectual property rights and those that are specific to Bankruptcy proceedings law. Bankruptcy law turns out to be "complex" insofar finding out a balance is not easy and reflects in a "difficult cohabitation". The analysis of the interactions between bankruptcy law and intellectual property rights helped avoiding the entanglement that resulted from border disputes between these two legal disciplines.

Tracing the impact of self-directed team learning in an air traffic control environment

Joubert, Christiaan Gerhardus 09 July 2008 (has links)
The aim of self-directed team learning initiatives is to provide a further level of defence against an eventuality by ensuring that air traffic controllers are aware of the sources of human fallibility, and by developing in the individual controllers and air traffic control teams the knowledge, skills and attitudes that will result in the successful management and containment of inadvertent error. To gain a deeper understanding of self-directed team learning, I investigated the role and contribution of self-directed team learning principles and strategies that were present in the South African Air Force air traffic control team-based work environment. This research study was directed by the following primary research questions: Does self-directed team learning impact on the air traffic control work environment, and what is the nature of self-directed team learning’s impact on the air traffic control work environment? Insights gained as a result of this study contributed to the body of research concerned with learning design, development, implementation and evaluation by self-directed teams as well as the air traffic control discipline. In this mixed-method study quantitative data collection was performed by means of a self-directed team learning questionnaire and a learning approach questionnaire, whereas qualitative data collection relied on individual interviews and focus group interviews. This study involved 25 South African Air Force air traffic controllers (from three operational air traffic control centres). The nature of self-directed team learning’s impact on the air traffic control work environment was illustrated by individual and collective (team) views and dynamics. The impact of air traffic control team performances was traced in terms of identified teamwork characteristics, activities, dynamics, performance measures and focus areas and reflective practices. Results of this study indicated that self-directed team learning offered opportunities to individuals and teams to influence air traffic control performances in an air traffic control work environment. A perceived positive relationship between self-directed team learning and air traffic control operational outputs could be traced. Lastly I concluded that self-directed learning by air traffic control teams had an impact on air traffic control operational outcomes, thus contributing towards a critical air traffic control goal – aviation safety. / Thesis (PhD (Currriculum Studies))--University of Pretoria, 2009. / Curriculum Studies / unrestricted
