No. of bitstreams: 1 Francieli_Pilati_Gervasoni.pdf: 1783237 bytes, checksum: 5fb2ec93b4c9dbcb2e2ef2eb267d91be (MD5) Previous issue date: 2015-06-26 / The cooperativeness has been identified in literature as an important option in the economic field, associated with local and territorial development policies. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the current situation of cooperatives in the training field as well as the suggestions of the cooperative members on the formation and necessary training for a better business management. In addition, this study establishes a dialogue between the two main authors: Bruno Latour with his theory of Actor Network and hybrid knowledge, and Paulo Freire, with his dialogic and empirical methodology. Thus, for constituting a formation process, it is essential to integrate numerous actors and individuals. From this, this study takes into consideration the establishment of a network as a way to aggregate them in the construction process of cooperative education. This network is made up by the União de Cooperativas da Agricultura Familiar e Economia Solidária (UNICAFES), Universities and the Sistema de Cooperativas de Crédito Rural com Interação Solidária (CRESOL) through its training programs for managers, employees and members, in attendance and distance modes under the responsibility of its Training Institute of Solidarity Cooperative (INFOCOS). The used methodology was based on interviews and questionnaires applied during the UNICAFES National Congress in Brasilia / DF, which was directed to the cooperative members and leaders of several Brazilian state cooperatives attending the event. Thus, the enormous importance of building the education and training by a hybrid and mixed form is observed, understanding that every knowledge training and building process consists of different methodologies and perceptions, thus becoming a hybridization of actors and individuals / O cooperativismo vem sendo identificado na literatura como uma importante opção no âmbito econômico, associado às políticas de desenvolvimento local e territorial.

Collaboration for Organization Success: Linking Organization Support of Collaboration and Organization Effectiveness.

Harris, Cheryl Lynne 12 1900 (has links)
What does it take for organizations to support people working together effectively? What does it mean for an organization to be effective? Does successful collaboration lead to more effective organizations? This study explored these questions both theoretically and empirically in an effort to help organizations understand the most important aspects to consider when attempting to achieve collaboration for organization success. The purpose of this study was to fill some of the gaps in the research by taking a broad, holistic approach to exploring the context required to support collaboration at levels of organizations broader than the team and exploring the links between organization support of collaboration and organization effectiveness. In preparation for the current study, the Organization Support of Collaboration model was developed to identify the broad organization design elements that are required to support collaboration. The Organization Effectiveness model was created to provide a holistic view of what it takes for an organization to be considered effective. The present study empirically validated these models and explored the links between them. Data was collected via a web-based questionnaire administered to a broad sample of individuals who work in organizations. Results supported a model of Organization Support of Collaboration with six factors (Connect to the Environment, Craft a Culture of Collaboration, Understand Work Processes, Design Using an Array of Structures, Build Shared Leadership, and Align Support Systems) and a model of Organization Effectiveness with six factors (Performance, Employee Involvement, Flexibility, Customer Satisfaction, New Customer Development, and Treatment of People). Connect to the Environment predicted five of the six Organization Effectiveness factors, and Craft a Culture of Collaboration predicted four of the six, notably with a connection to Performance. For the predicted relationships between the models, nine hypotheses were supported, six were not supported, and three unexpected significant relationships were found. Implications for practice and future directions are recommended.

Cooperativismo : análise da influência da Cooperativa Agroindustrial dos Produtores Rurais do Sudoeste Goiano (COMIGO) no desenvolvimento do Município de Rio Verde (GO) / COOPERATIVE: analysis of the influence of Agroindustrial Cooperative of Rural Producers of Southwest Goiás (COMIGO) in the development of Rio Verde County (GO)

Wilson Auto Alves Junior 27 February 2015 (has links)
Cooperative enterprises are organizations that offer an important contribution to the development, embedded generation and distribution of wealth and job creation. Besides being an inductive element in agricultural modernization, in that it contributes to the socioeconomic, cultural and political development. Of this scenario was searched clarify the influence of Agroindustrial Cooperative of Rural Producers of Southwest Goiás - COMIGO in the development of the municipality of Rio Verde (GO), specifically, identify how the COMIGO contribute socially, employment generation, sustainability, innovation and how it relates to the impacts of their activities and policies of the municipality of Rio Verde - GO. Considering the proposed objectives, this research is classified as exploratory, qualitative approach, and the nature of this study is classified as basic research and in relation to the procedures adopted this research is classified as documental. In order, to make a last comparative analysis of the last Municipal Human Development Index IDHM of Rio Verde - GO was observed the relationship between growth rate and Hiatus Development, which shows an imbalance between their results, in recent decades was observed the growth rate of 54.51% verses a Hiatus development of 51.95%, and concludes that even with all the entrepreneurial activities of COMIGO and the perceived impact of these influences at different levels in the municipality of Rio Verde - GO, was not sufficient to promote an increase in the rate of development in proportion to the increase of the growth rate, thus resulting in hiatus development lower to the growth rate.

Tapestry of Human Relations between Southern African American Migrants and Afro-caribbean immigrants in a New York City neighborhood community

Nelson, John A. January 2021 (has links)
This ethnographic study investigates conditions in which groups often found to be at odds with each can instead form mutually productive and supportive relationships. As an Anglophone West Indian immigrant man myself, I am personally interested in how members of my group find success in the US and fit into the larger US African descendant sphere of Black people. As a clergyman, I am professionally interested in how different Black ethnic groups find ways to get along and even appreciate each others’ differences, as part of a larger whole. Since much of my working life is keyed to creating conditions for a positive climate in which people can be the best of themselves, I hypothesized that in the right environment groups known to be suspicious of and stereotype each other, and even engage in outright conflict, could reach a workable resolution over time. That of Afro Caribbeans and Southern African Americans presented an exemplary case. To investigate whether this positive outcome was possible in the right conditions, I selected St Albans, Queens, 1965-present, as a site to conduct research that would help me learn a) how Anglophone Afro Caribbean immigrants made successful places for themselves in the US and the neighborhood; b) from their point of view, found paths to acceptance and even mutual appreciation of African Americans of Southern migrant backgrounds; and c) test whether particular characteristics of a neighborhood environment offer support for mutual acceptance and appreciation, without either group having to give up what it culturally values. The study found that because of several factors St. Albans indeed promoted a context which fostered getting along, and even getting along well. These included sufficient employment and housing opportunities, similarities in income and middle class status, numerous churches that reinforced positive values, and the fact that the racial tensions characteristic of many parts of the US were not prevalent in the daily life of the neighborhood.

Content and Temporal Analysis of Communications to Predict Task Cohesion in Software Development Global Teams

Castro Hernandez, Alberto 05 1900 (has links)
Virtual teams in industry are increasingly being used to develop software, create products, and accomplish tasks. However, analyzing those collaborations under same-time/different-place conditions is well-known to be difficult. In order to overcome some of these challenges, this research was concerned with the study of collaboration-based, content-based and temporal measures and their ability to predict cohesion within global software development projects. Messages were collected from three software development projects that involved students from two different countries. The similarities and quantities of these interactions were computed and analyzed at individual and group levels. Results of interaction-based metrics showed that the collaboration variables most related to Task Cohesion were Linguistic Style Matching and Information Exchange. The study also found that Information Exchange rate and Reply rate have a significant and positive correlation to Task Cohesion, a factor used to describe participants' engagement in the global software development process. This relation was also found at the Group level. All these results suggest that metrics based on rate can be very useful for predicting cohesion in virtual groups. Similarly, content features based on communication categories were used to improve the identification of Task Cohesion levels. This model showed mixed results, since only Work similarity and Social rate were found to be correlated with Task Cohesion. This result can be explained by how a group's cohesiveness is often associated with fairness and trust, and that these two factors are often achieved by increased social and work communications. Also, at a group-level, all models were found correlated to Task Cohesion, specifically, Similarity+Rate, which suggests that models that include social and work communication categories are also good predictors of team cohesiveness. Finally, temporal interaction similarity measures were calculated to assess their prediction capabilities in a global setting. Results showed a significant negative correlation between the Pacing Rate and Task Cohesion, which suggests that frequent communications increases the cohesion between team members. The study also found a positive correlation between Coherence Similarity and Task Cohesion, which indicates the importance of establishing a rhythm within a team. In addition, the temporal models at individual and group-levels were found to be good predictors of Task Cohesion, which indicates the existence of a strong effect of frequent and rhythmic communications on cohesion related to the task. The contributions in this dissertation are three fold. 1) Novel use of Temporal measures to describe a team's rhythmic interactions, 2) Development of new, quantifiable factors for analyzing different characteristics of a team's communications, 3) Identification of interesting factors for predicting Task Cohesion levels among global teams.

The effects of individual preference and interactive style on first graders' performance in solving math problems

O'Connell, Christine M. 23 June 2009 (has links)
The effect of learning style preference on a student's performance on math problems solved both cooperatively and competitively was examined. Eighty-nine first graders were assessed for their preferences for cooperative or competitive interactive styles. Thirty-eight children were found to have clear preferences for either cooperative or competitive styles, or to have no preference for interactive style. Students were then put into pairs, consisting of students from the same or different learning preference groups. These pairs were instructed to solve math problems cooperatively and competitively. After solving the problems under both conditions, the subjects were asked which way they would like to solve the problems again. Of primary interest was the students' overall level of accuracy on the task as a function of learning preference and pair type. The differences between performance for each condition were analyzed by a 3x2x2 Mixed Analysis of Variance with repeated measures. All students performed better under cooperative conditions than the competitive condition regardless of their learning preference or type of partner, but this was not a statistically significant difference. Results also showed that students did not shift their learning preferences as a function of their group assignment. These preliminary findings support that learning preference does not appear to be associated with academic performance. Methodological limitations of the study and possible improvements are discussed. / Master of Science

The developmental effect of the presence of a recipient in a modified dictator game

Unknown Date (has links)
Economic game theory has been a challenge to traditional models of selfish human nature. Resource acquisition games, such as the dictator game, which have been primarily played by adults, have revealed that humans are inclined to share even when it is not in their best interest to do so. Few studies have been conducted on the development of resource distribution in children, and fewer still have explored the effect of context and level of involvement of a second player in such games. In the current study, 179 children from kindergarten, first, and second grades participated in a modified dictator game with another player. Children were randomly assigned to one of four conditions; a control condition, where they played individually with an anonymous player, or one of three experimental conditions with two players who each played with varying levels of involvement with the second player. It was found that kindergarteners shared significantly less across conditions than first and second graders, with first and second graders sharing similar amounts. The presence of another player significantly increased the amount of sharing for all grades. Additionally, second players shared significantly less than first players. Developmental and contextual patterns of sharing are discussed. / by Jason Grotuss. / Thesis (Ph.D.)--Florida Atlantic University, 2011. / Includes bibliography. / Electronic reproduction.
