Previous issue date: 2009-05-11 / Secretaria da Educação do Estado de São Paulo / The study starts from the Luis Renato Martins premise, which, in his book
Conflito e interpretações em Fellini (1994), he countered the autobiographical cinema
vogue for Fellini s work and established in its place, a more relevant and interesting
trend for readings and filmic analysis, e.g.: the parody as critical weapon, the
discussion of the mass culture, the fascism and its historical matrix. Getting away of
the neo-realistic filmmakers, Fellini tells about the Italian s social reality throw popular
shows. The artists assume a role of mediator of Fellini s critic and, from them,
establish a contradiction: the arising industrial world in conflict with the Italian identity
previously established. Accordingly, the construction of a more structured analysis is
where this work goes, considering Fellini s filmic organization issue which converges
circus, theater, television and cinema, documentary and fiction creating an intriguing
audiovisual possibility provided by television language insertion in the clownish and
cinematographic work of Fellini.
The exogenous factor, linked with the north american influence, gets hold of
the cultural italian ground, changing it. Fellini portrays the encounter between the
world of the spectacle and the cinema with televisable media, which, in the path of
technological development, planted root in Italian ground. Between losses and
damage, the films emphasize the constant movement and adaptation of the
spectacles, of the cinematographic language and the own Fellini s style forefront a
new differential.
Considering those implications, the study focus in the importance of the
Fellini s filmic route to defend the hypothesis of the restructure of his language from
the advent of TV as a means of mass communication, fact shown in his first movie
realized for TV, Block Notes di un Regista (1969). In order of arguing this hypothesis,
was made necessary considering and analyzing another Fellini s movies realized for
TV: I Clowns (1970) e Prova d orquestra (1978). Another three movies made for
cinema, nevertheless with televisable thematic, Ginger e Fred (1985), Intervista
(1987), La Voce della Luna (1989), also was elucidated and evaluated. Therefore
could have seen that Fellini s filmic aesthetics came from the popular spectacles to
gain television in its languages and purposes, converging documentary and fiction,
terreno cultural italiano, transformando-o.
Considerando essas imbricações, o estudo privilegia a importância do
televisiva, Ginger e Fred (1985), Intervista (1987), La Voce della Luna (1989),

Senhor,
uma série de
ensaios, artigos e críticas sobre o cinema estrangeiro e
nacional. O objetivo
desta pesquisa é a recuperação dessa produção
intelectual
e que se encontra
arquivada nessa revista. O estudo desenvolve-se a partir
da percepção da
Senhor como um repositório do pensamento específico
sobre
o cinema no
publicadas, determinou a
orientação do periódico quanto ao cinema. Assim, a
entender e apreciar o
cinema de arte. / [en] From 1959 until 1963, Alex Viany published essays,
articles and reviews
about foreign and Brazilian cinema in the Senhor magazine.
This dissertation
intends to explore his intellectual productions in terms
of referencing this
particular magazine as an authority on cinema thought at
the beginning of the
1960`s in Brazil. In general, Senhor will be considered
for its cultural value in
its time. More specifically, the foreign and national
cinema texts by Alex
Viany will be grouped and analyzed. Senhor magazine
published more cinema
reviews by Alex Viany during the 1960s than by any other
reviewer. As a
result, his thought determined the periodical`s
orientation about cinema
productions. Senhor`s goal of moving its readership
towards sophisticated
thought and cosmopolitan ideas was enhanced by Alex
Viany`s contributions
in educating the public on the art of cinema.

Previous issue date: 2009-05-27 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This work aims to strengthen relations between the studies of cinema and the sciences of
religion, broadening the horizons for analysis and exchanges between both sides. It also
enhances the concept of logopathia, introduced by Julio Cabrera, combining the philosophy
of religion, for its ineffable bias, and confirming the effectiveness and reflexive
methodological originality of image-concepts. The text takes a new look at the films of M.
Night Shyamalan and studies the significance of his work so far.
Perceiving a void in interdisciplinary studies between cinema and religion, we
hypothesized that the logopathia described by Cabrera represents a new way to understand
principles of philosophy of religion. As a method of reasoning, it articulates negative
descriptions in order to formulate image-concepts holding an ineffable feature of the religious
field, therefore representing a founder prism of understanding, completely alien to classical
theories of knowledge.
The films of M. Night Shyamalan are analyzed in order to understand how the concepts
of ineffable-image increased understanding of traditional concepts of academic studies in
science of religion and make a new way of philosophical studies and formatting for the area / Este trabalho tem como objetivo estreitar as relações entre o cinema e as ciências da

Previous issue date: 2008-06-16 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This thesis argues the images of the metropolis constructed by the contemporary Brazilian
cinema. The analysis foresees at least three elements that are on the basis of this cinema: (1)
the fi lm as an intellectual experience and mediation; (2) the necessity to consider the fi lm
form as a fundamental element in the construction of this mediation; and (3) the city as an
environment mobilized for the interaction between the people and the modifi ed space. For
the present study it was selected four feature fi lm fi ctions, directed by young movie makers
from different Brazilian states: O Invasor (2001), of Beto Brant, O homem que copiava (Rio
Grande do Sul, 2002), of Jorge Furtado; Amarelo Manga (Pernambuco, 2002), of Cláudio
Assis;; and, O outro lado da rua (Rio de Janeiro, 2004), directed by Marcos Bernstein. All of
them deal with the comprehension of the images as something capable to set the imaginary,
and, to assume with the motivational questionings of this thesis the inquiries on what and
how these movies are thinking the life in metropolis. The analysis is structured from the relationship
between subject/personage and the urban environment, considered as force lines
to defi ne conceptual cities identifi ed by those relationships.
The adopted theoretical position assumes a multidisciplinary character as a necessary condition
for the analytical process, connected to areas such as Anthropology, Sociology, Philosophy
and Cinema Theory, among others. The thesis is divided in three chapters: the fi rst one
is a discussion that considers O invasor (2001) and O homem que copiava (2002) as similar
movies since they have a structural similarity, which is the point of view of the metropolis
as a place still under construction, a process of transformation between the virtual and the
reality; and for this reason the chapter is titled Virtual city . The second chapter titled
The city to drift (adrift) approaches the fi lm feature from Pernambuco as a movie composed
by floating images that try to prove the thesis of its director about the misery in man s
life. Finally, the third chapter, titled The body-city , considers that the movie of Bernstein, through a classic decoupage, approaches its protagonist to the metropolis in order to con-
fi gure among them an almost indissociated relationship / Esta tese discute as imagens da metrópole construídas pelo cinema brasileiro contemporâneo.
A análise

Le cinéma italien en France : histoire, société et diffusion : étudiées à travers les œuvres de Emanuele Crialese, Matteo Garrone et Paolo Sorrentino / Italian cinema in France : history, society and the impact of its dissemination : studied through Emanuele Crialese's, Matteo Garrone's and Paolo Sorrentino's movies / Il cinema italiano in Francia : storia, società e impatto della sua diffusione : analizzate attraverso le opere di Emanuele Crialese, Matteo Garrone e Paolo SorrentinoCavaleri, Giuseppe 21 October 2017 (has links)
One may approach cinema as a cultural vector which can either give shape to the habits and customs of a given society or reflect its yearnings. The Italian film industry is one among those which have produced movies which entered the global cultural imaginary. Nowadays, its international presence has been reshaped and Italian films do not easily shine beyond the national frame. Artists such as Emanuele Crialese, Matteo Garrone or Paolo Sorrentino have managed to achieve an undeniable visibility, and have become the symbol of a reborn contemporary Italian cinema. The content of their filmographies are the result of film shapes that are as rich as they are diverse, and their influence seems able to alter and to update the imaginary of italian culture connoisseurs. The purpose of our work is to study and understand the impact of their masterpieces on the French audience. Through a historical, sociological and economical study, we will analyse the representation of reality in the history of Italian cinema : an intellectual ideal which seems to have been of interest especially to the French spectators. Then we will focus on the content of these three specific directors’ lifework in order to examine social, political and economical data. Finally, we will conclude by observing the impact these films have had on French experts such as film critics. This study also deals with the distribution and the running of these specific directors’ films not only in the cinemas but also when aired in various film festivals.
