Culturally Sensitive Technology-Enhanced Mental Health Screening in Integrated Primary Care

Salway-Jensen, Barbara Kay, Salway-Jensen, Barbara Kay January 2016 (has links)
The integration of primary care and mental health care is a requirement of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 and has challenged primary care providers to address gaps in the quality of care provided for patients with mental health issues. Vulnerable populations, such as the American Indian people experience gaps in quality health care, especially communication gaps and language barriers. This quality improvement project used a survey design to explore the potential for primary care providers to adopt a culturally sensitive electronic mental health, screening tool to bridge communication gaps and language barriers. Primary care providers recruited from the Northern Arizona University (NAU) Campus Health Services clinic evaluated the concept of a touch screen iPad technology to implement the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), which screens for depression using audio options in English and in the Navajo language to accommodate American Indian patients. A PowerPoint overview of the iPad technology was sent via email to the NAU providers and included; the PHQ-9 screening results, which are to be immediately accessible in the patient's electronic health record along with a screening report. The screening report included the PHQ-9 depression score, interpretation of the score, best treatment choices, and a graph for monitoring patient progress. This survey results concluded providers perceive the iPad technology for mental health screening to be useful in their integrated primary care clinic. A modified Technology Acceptance Model (Davis, 1989) was used to evaluate the providers' perception of the iPad Technology, and the University of Arizona's Qualtrics survey system provided data analysis of the survey results.

Socialtjänsten och våld i nära relation i en samisk kontext : En kvalitativ studie om socialtjänstens möjligheter att ge stöd till våldsutsatta kvinnor inom samisk kultur i Sverige / Social services and violence in close relationship in a sami context : A qualitative study of the social services opportunities to provide support to women exposed to violence in a sami culture in Sweden

Östberg, Malin, Siggelin, Angelica January 2022 (has links)
Social services and violence in close relationship in a sami context A qualitative study of the social services opportunities to provide support to women exposed to violence in a sami culture in Sweden  Background: There is a lack of studies in Sweden that includes and describes violence against Sami women and how important the social worker's ambition is to create and maintain basic knowledge and efforts to support Sami women who’s exposed to domestic violence.  Aim: The aim of this study is to clarify how the social services in Sweden work for the Sami women to be able to get the help they need.  Methods: The study is based on four individual qualitative interviews with social workers from Norrbottens och Västerbottens län. For analysis intersectionality and postcolonial theory has been used.  Results: The results have shown us that there are both similarities and differences for social workers who’s involved with Sami women as clients. What all social services had in common was that they all had to seek cultural knowledge by themselves. What differd was the view of cultural relevance. Some of the social workers thought there should be more of importance to have cultural knowledge when working with Sami women who’s exposed to domestic violence, others had the opinion that the aim is to treat every client based on the guidelines that have been determined at the social service office and is directed to all abused women.

Metodika pro lokalizaci webových stránek z pohledu webdesignu / Methodology for website localization from the perspective of webdesign

Čermák, Radim January 2017 (has links)
Internet and websites are today one of the most important communication channels of almost all companies. They offer a simple, fast and effective way of communication, which is also available worldwide in a few seconds. With the globalization of market, more and more companies try to expand their business beyond the territory of the home state. In the current time of start-ups is the Internet also often a medium that allows formation of new spheres of business for which the website is absolutely essential channel. This type of business is internet based and has very often international ambitions from the very beginning. Given that each country (or region) can be seen as distinctive culture, it is advisable to locate websites for the needs of the foreign country. This is exactly the theme of this thesis. The concrete objective of this thesis is to offer a methodology for website localization in terms of webdesign. The basic building block is the delimitation of a multidisciplinary theoretical framework that examines the concept of culture and extensive literature review allowing current insight into the linking of website and culture, i.e. cultural website localization. Suitable method for gripping such a complex concept as a culture emerge from a theoretical framework as well. As the most appropriate method were determined Hofstedes cultural dimensions, which are then used for the analysis of cultural determination of web elements. Data collection for the purpose of analysis of web elements cultural determination is performed using a content analysis of websites from nine different countries. The results of the analysis are compared and synthesized with the findings stemming from a literature review. The final artifact of this thesis, a methodology for website localization from the perspective of web design, is based on this ground. Validation of the proposed methodology is done on the basis of assessment of the methodology for a domain of web design. This assessment is based on interviews with experts from different countries as well as presentation of concrete example of methodology use within a midsize website.
