Two survey were conducted: in the first and second year after the reservoir water filling. For this, 48, 200 m2, plots were allocated through stratified systematic sampling, in three sectors: bottom (sector 1), adjacent to the reservoir, middle slope and upper slope. The trees within plots with circumference at breast height (cbh) ≥ 15,7 cm were identified and measured (cbh), and, in the second evaluation year, the dead trees were counted and recruits incorporated to survey. In each plot, the following environmental variables were obtained: edaphic, topographic and environmental impact. The data were analyzed by phytosociological estimates, demographic dynamics, multivariate analysis and modelling techniques. In the first year, the high number of dead trees (second greatest value of relative importance in community: 9.59%) stood out, with a significantly great number in the sector 1 (p < 0,05), which could be associated to the proximity to water reservoir. The dynamics demonstrated stability in richness and individuals number, whereas there were differences among sectors, with sector 1 presenting greater basal area loss (2.51%.year-1) than others. There was a weak relation between dynamics and evaluated environmental variables, indicating that the trees development is mostly associated to non-evaluated variables, such as reservoir influence. Thus, the present study indicates that the first effects of reservoir can be observed two years after the process of water filling / A presente dissertação objetivou identificar o impacto do enchimento do reservatório de uma Usina Hidreletrica (UHE) na composição florístico-estrutural do componente arbóreo de um fragmento em ecótono entre Floresta Ombrófila Mista e Floresta Estacional Decidual localizado no município de São José do Cerrito, SC. Foram realizadas duas avaliações: no primeiro e no segundo ano após o enchimento do reservatório. Para isso, foram alocadas 48 parcelas de 200 m² cada, de forma estratificada-sistemática, em três setores do fragmento: adjacente às margens do reservatório (setor 1), meio da encosta e topo da encosta. Os indivíduos arbóreos dentro das parcelas com circunferência a altura do peito (CAP) ≥ 15,7 cm foram identificados e mensurados (CAP), sendo que, no segundo ano de avaliação, os indivíduos mortos foram quantificados e os recrutas incorporados ao levantamento. Em cada parcela, foram mensuradas as variáveis ambientais: características edáficas, topográficas, de luminosidade e de impacto ambiental. Os dados foram analisados por estimativas fitossociológicas, cálculos de dinâmica, análises multivariadas e técnicas de modelagem. Destaca-se, no primeiro ano, o elevado número de indivíduos mortos (segundo maior valor de importância na comunidade: 9,59%), sendo significativamente maior no setor 1 (p < 0,05), o que pode estar associada à maior proximidade com a lâmina d’água. A dinâmica apresentou estabilidade na riqueza e em número de indivíduos, porém, entre os setores houve distinções, sendo o setor 1 caracterizado pela maior taxa de perda em área basal (2,51%.ano-1). Houve pouca relação das taxas de dinâmica com as variáveis ambientais analisadas, indicando que a maior influência encontrada sobre o desenvolvimento das árvores está associada a variáveis não utilizadas nas análises, como a influência do reservatório. Assim, o presente estudo indica que, dois anos após o enchimento do reservatório, foi possível perceber os primeiros efeitos do enchimento do lago da hidrelétrica na comunidade arbórea

La patrimonialisation d'un ouvrage hydro-électrique en milieu périurbain : le cas du canal de jonage / The Jonage Canal : an industrial site in an urban area becomes part of the French electrical heritage

L’usine-barrage de Cusset, installée dans le département du Rhône sur la commune de Villeurbanne et le canal qui l'alimente, sera le thème de la thèse, objet de ce projet de recherche. Cette usine de production d’électricité, mise en service en 1899, s’insère dans un aménagement long de 19 kilomètres sur le canal de Jonage, dérivation du Rhône en amont de la ville de Lyon. Cusset est un élément emblématique de l’histoire de l’électricité visible dans le tissu urbain lyonnais et, qui plus est, toujours en exploitation. Le chantier du canal de Jonage, qui s’inscrit dans une époque de transition énergétique où l’électricité s’impose comme un nouveau modèle. C’est la première fois que l’on installe un barrage sur un grand fleuve près d’un centre urbain. Alors qu’à la même période des industriels installent des usines à proximité des chutes des Alpes ou des Pyrénées, avec Cusset, pour la première fois, l’électricité vient à l’industrie. Cusset n’est pas seulement un symbole technique mais également un symbole politique, porteur d’une modernité globale pour l’agglomération lyonnaise. Ce projet combine en effet l’alimentation en eau, la navigation fluviale et la production de l’électricité.L’usine-barrage de Cusset et l’aménagement du canal de Jonage ont déjà fait l’objet d’études et de recherches historiques. Il s’agit, dans cette thèse, de centrer le propos sur l’usine-barrage de Cusset et le canal et de les étudier d’un point de vue patrimonial et non pas uniquement historique. Cusset possède indéniablement une valeur patrimoniale, du fait de l’innovation qu’elle a représentée mais également en raison de son architecture spectaculaire. L’usine de Cusset est un véritable réservoir d’images, la plus emblématique étant très certainement l’affiche de la fée électricité du canal de Jonage. Quant à l’architecture du bâtiment c’est le résultat de l’alliance du travail de l’ingénieur et de l’architecte qui nous est donné à voir. Le bâtiment est d’ailleurs déjà mis en valeur par un éclairage nocturne. A Cusset, il est d’ores et déjà possible de dire que l’on est parvenu à allier l’exploitation industrielle d’un site avec une sorte de sauvegarde du patrimoine. L’aspect général du barrage ainsi que l’intérieur ont très peu évolué depuis la rénovation des années 1930. Lieu de production d’électricité, principalement à partir de l’énergie hydraulique mais aussi complétée par une usine thermique, et de transport d'énergie, le site de Cusset fait figure d'exception. A bien des égards, le site de Cusset mérite une attention particulière.Cette thèse ne se cantonne néanmoins pas uniquement à une étude du patrimoine et du bâti. En effet, comme dit précédemment, l’usine-barrage de Cusset fait partie d’un ensemble long de 19 kilomètres. Or depuis quelques années le Grand Lyon a mis en place un important projet d’aménagement des berges du canal de Jonage. Le Carré de Soie, espace proche de l’usine, est également en mutation. Aujourd’hui Cusset dépasse donc le simple cadre de l’usine elle-même pour s’insérer dans des logiques de recomposition urbaine plus globales. L’usine-barrage de Cusset doit être considérée dans son ensemble en prenant en compte le bâti et les aménagements des bords du canal et de la ville alentour. Il s’agit donc ici d’orienter les recherches patrimoniales sur les relations entre l’usine et son environnement et d’étudier les différents aspects, évènements et perceptions qui ont pu faire, ou peuvent faire de Cusset un patrimoine inscrit dans le tissu urbain. Il est également intéressant d’étudier les différents acteurs de cette patrimonialisation d’un site de production électrique et ce selon des échelles de lieu et de temps. De ce point de vue, ce travail de recherche est une nouveauté et propose une réflexion poussée sur des champs d’étude inexplorés pour ce lieu. Il s’inscrit également dans l’actualité des aménagements effectués par le Grand Lyon. / The subject of this thesis and the aim of this research is the Cusset plant-dam in the Rhone department in the town of Villeurbanne and the canal which supplies it with water. This hydro-electric power plant, started up in 1899, is part of a renovation project, 19 kilometres long, on the banks of the Jonage canal which is a derivation of the Rhone upriver from the city of Lyon. Cusset is a symbolic element in the history of electricity that is visible in the urban site of Lyon and which is moreover still in use. The building of the Jonage canal, at a transitional period in the history of energy when electricity took over as the main power supply, marks "the growing importance of French hydro-electricity". It was the first time that a dam was built on a big river near a town. At the same time as plants were being built near the waterfalls of the Alps and the Pyrenees, with Cusset, for the first time, electricity was being brought to already existing industrial sites. This project would make Lyon the most electrified city in France thanks to the plant which was the most powerful in Europe when it was built. Cusset is not only a technical symbol but also a political one, incarnating the overall modernity of the Lyonnais area. This project is in fact threefold : water supply, fluvial navigation and the production of electricity.The plant-dam of Cusset and the building of the Jonage canal have already been studied as the subject of historical research. In this thesis, the aim is to focus the research on the Cusset plant-dam and the Jonage canal on the heritage impact of the project rather than the historical impact. There is no denying that Cusset is a great heritage site , not only for its innovative value, but also for its spectacular architecture. Cusset is a real reservoir of pictures, the most symbolic certainly being the poster of the electricity fairy on the Jonage canal. The architecture of the building is the result of the joint work of the engineer and the architect. Moreover the majesty of the building is already being enhanced when illuminated at night. It can now be said that it has been possible to combine the industrial exploitation of a site whilst respecting the heritage of that same site. The overall aspect of the site as well as the interior have hardly changed since the renovation carried out in the thirties. Cusset, a site where energy is produced,( mainly hydro-electric power but there is also a thermic plant), and a site where energy is transported. It can truly be said that Cusset is an exceptional site which for many reasons deserves to have special attention paid to it.This thesis however does not simply examine the heritage and buildings of the site. As we have already said, the Cusset plant-dam is part of a project that stretches over 19 kilometres. For the past few years, the Greater Lyon authorities have been working on an important development project for the banks of the Jonage canal. The "Carré de soie", an area near to the plant is also changing. So today Cusset goes beyond being simply a power plant by being integrated into the more global project of redefining the urban area in which it is situated. The Cusset plant and dam must be considered as a whole , taking into account the buildings, the development of the canal banks and the city around it. So this research into the heritage site is concentrated on the specific relationship between the plant and its environment and the various aspects, events and perceptions that have made or can make Cusset a heritage site that has been integrated into an urban setting. It is also interesting to study the various people and institutions that have contributed over time to making this energy production site a heritage site. It is from this point of view that this thesis raises new points of interest to be explored and researched around this industrial site.

Stabilité des digues sous chargement sismique : vers une nouvelle génération de méthodes simplifiées / Stability of embankments under seismic loading : towards a new generation of simplified methods

Permettant de protéger les populations des inondations, de canaliser l'eau à des fins d'irrigation ou de production d'électricité, les digues en terre sont des ouvrages stratégiques dont la rupture peut avoir des conséquences dramatiques. La stabilité de ces ouvrages doit ainsi pouvoir être assurée, notamment en cas de séisme. Cependant, étant donné le très grand linéaire qu'ils représentent, la mise en œuvre de vastes campagnes de reconnaissances et de modèles numériques complexes n'est pas toujours envisageable dans les zones de sismicité modérée. L'utilisation d'outils simplifiés, faisant appel à des données facilement mesurables, se révèle indispensable pour fournir une indication sur la stabilité de tronçons de digue soumis à un chargement sismique. Les méthodes simplifiées existantes permettant d'estimer la réponse dynamique des remblais sont inadaptées au contexte des digues. En effet, alors que les digues sont pour la plupart construites dans des vallées sédimentaires, la majorité de ces méthodes, développées pour l’étude des barrages, supposent que l’ouvrage est fondé directement au rocher. Seules deux approches permettent de prendre en compte l’interaction entre l’ouvrage et son sol d’assise (effets de site) : la méthode de Sarma(1979) et celle de Papadimitriou(2014). Cependant, la première est basée sur des hypothèses très fortes (elle considère notamment un rocher rigide et un amortissement uniforme, qui plus est très fort) et la seconde se limite à des ouvrages ayant une hauteur supérieure à 20 si{m}. L'approche développée au cours de cette thèse repose sur des hypothèses plus réalistes, en considérant notamment des géométries adaptées à celles des digues, en prenant en compte les effets de site et en adaptant la dissipation d'énergie au niveau de sollicitation. Une étude paramétrique numérique (calcul de la réponse visco-élastique par éléments spectraux en deux dimensions) est utilisée pour couvrir un ensemble de configurations géométriques et mécaniques de digues. Pour prendre en compte la non-linéarité, les valeurs d'amortissement et de dégradation du module de cisaillement sont adaptées en chaque point des modèles à partir des résultats fournis par une série de calculs en linéaire équivalent 1D. Les réseaux de neurones artificiels, dont l'apprentissage est basé sur les résultats des simulations numériques, sont utilisés pour le développement d'une nouvelle méthode simplifiée. Des abaques sont réalisés, à partir des réseaux de neurones établis, pour offrir une alternative visuelle à leur utilisation "mathématiques". Les outils simplifiés auxquels aboutit cette thèse font appel à des paramètres facilement mesurables sur le terrain. Des méthodes géophysiques sont mises en œuvre au niveau de quatre sites de digues afin d'identifier le meilleur compromis de mesures permettant d'estimer les paramètres nécessaires à l'évaluation de la réponse dynamique de l'ouvrage. / Embankments are strategic facilities that, among other things, protect population from flooding and canalize rivers for energy production or for irrigation concerns. Since their rupture can lead to terrible consequences, they must remain stable, especially in case of earthquake. However, given the very large length of embankments, it is rarely possible to conduct complete investigations and complex numerical models in regions of moderate seismicity. Therefore, simplified tools to estimate the dynamic response of embankments using accessible embankments’ features are necessary to estimate their capacity to resist seismic loadings. Existing simplified methods, generally developed to assess the dynamic response of embankment-dams, turn out to be inappropriate to study the particular case of embankments along rivers – or other types of embankment, with small height and large length. The majority of these simplified methods do not take into account site effects: they assume the presence of rock directly at the base of the embankment, whereas most of large length embankments are located in alluvial valleys. Two methods only - Sarma(1979) and Papadimitriou(2014) - take into account the interaction between the embankment and its soil foundation. However, the first one relies on strong assumptions (among others, that the bedrock is considered rigid and that the viscous damping is supposed to be both spatially uniform and very large) and the second one is limited to tall embankments (higher than 20 si{m}).The method developed in this thesis relies on assumptions that are more realistic: it considers geometries adapted to large length embankments, it accounts for the presence of a soil foundation and includes an energy dissipation process consistent with expected levels of strain. A numerical parametric study is performed based on the computation with the spectral element method of the viscoelastic response of a large set of embankments spanning a wide range of geometrical and mechanical properties. In order to take into account nonlinearity, damping and shear modulus reduction are adapted in each point of the numerical models according to the results of a set of 1D linear equivalent computations. A new simplified method is derived from the obtained numerical results using artificial neural networks. Abacuses are produced from the neural networks so that engineers can have at their disposal a visual tool. This thesis leads to a simplified method that uses some accessible features of embankments as input parameters. The ability of classical geophysical methods to provide those input parameters is further estimated on four sites corresponding to different realistic configurations.

The installation of a large-scale works such as Irap?, considered one of the largest hydroelectric dams in Brazil, covers an area of great proportion and promoted the displacement of many families, mostly composed of peasants. Thus, many people were relocated elsewhere. Wanted then how to analyze the "hit" by Irap? and resettled in Alto Jequitinhonha establish new relations with the territory and recreate a sense of belonging in that territory. This analysis is thus directed to the actions and practices created by resettled in the new place they are in. The findings of this work show that changes occurred in the affected livelihoods caused by the installation of the dam and that the sociocultural processes of resettled will not be played again in the current territory in which they are.

Efeito do barramento na morfologia de Moenkhausia costae (Steindachner, 1907) (Teleostei Characidae): reservatório de Três Marias, Bacia do Rio São Francisco /

Orientador: Ricardo Cardoso Benine / Resumo: Atualmente, os reservatórios artificiais de água causam grandes impactos e representam uma grande ameaça à biodiversidade de todo o mundo. Moenkhausia costae é uma espécie de peixe da Família Characidae, amplamente distribuída nos diversos ambientes da bacia do rio São Francisco, sendo presente no reservatório da UHE Três Marias. Observando populações coletadas na lagoa da represa e fora da mesma foram identificadas variações morfológicas notáveis. Trabalhos prévios com peixes demonstraram que populações alocadas em ambientes alterados por barramento de rios apresentavam variações morfológicas com relação à populações que permaneciam em ambiente natural. Neste trabalho avaliou-se a variação morfológica presente entre populações de M. costae que estão sob influência direta da lagoa da UHE Três Marias e populações sob condições naturais, fora da influência do reservatório. Para avaliar a variação morfológica existente entre populações de M. costae de ambos os ambientes, foram levantados caracteres morfológicos através das morfometrias linear e geométrica, sendo estas testadas posteriormente através de análises multivariadas. A morfometria linear demonstrou um padrão morfológico com formas mais limitadas nas populações da represa, concordando com os resultados exibidos pela morfometria geométrica, que também demonstrou formas corporais limitadas para as populações da represa. / Abstract: Currently, artificial water reservoirs are causing impacts and represent a major threat to biodiversity around the world. Moenkhausia costae is a fish species of the Characidae, and is widely distributed in the different environments of the rio São Francisco basin, being present in UHE Três Marias dam. Examining populations collected in and out of the dam influence area, remarkable morphological variations were identified. Previous works with fish showed that populations allocated in environments altered by dam’s construction presented morphological variations in relation to populations that remained in a natural environment. This work evaluated the morphological variation present among populations of M. costae that are under direct influence of UHE Três Marias lagoon and populations that are outside the influence of the dam. For this, morphological characters were collected through linear and geometric morphometry methodologies, which were later tested through multivariate analyzes. Linear morphometry demonstrated a morphological pattern with more limited patterns in dam populations, agreeing with the results exhibited by geometric morphometry, which also demonstrated limited body shapes for dam populations. / Mestre

The rainfall events are highly concentrated generating large flows to the sea. The increase of water availability requires construction and maintenance of infrastructure to capture and conserve rainwater, and also an efficient management of these resources. Nowadays, capture, storage and mobilization of water surface through construction of dams is one of the strategic priorities of the policy of the State of Cape Verde. Studies of hydrology and sedimentology of the only existing reservoir (Poilão Dam, 1.2 hm³) and its watershed are the basic requirements for adequate design, management and monitoring of this infrastructure. In this sense, the present study aimed at systematizing hydrological and sediment information of the Poilão Dam and providing a long-term operational proposal. The altitude of the basin varies from 99 m, situated on the dam, up to 1394m. For the study, the following data were used and systematized: rainfall dataset from 1973 to 2010; records of instantaneous flow for the period of 1984 to 2000; and agro-climatic records from 1981 to 2004. To fill the gaps of both flow and suspended-sediment discharge, the rating-curve method was used. To estimate sediment yield in the watershed it was applied the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE), associated with the Sediment Delivery Ratio (SDR). The sediment release efficiency rate of the reservoir was estimated by Brune method and the sediment distribution inside the reservoir by the empirical area reduction method described by Borland and Miller, and reviewed by Lara. To assess water availability, water yield versus reliability curves were used. These curves were obtained by the computer code VYELAS, developed by Araújo and based on Campos approach. The reduction of the water yield (caused by the reservoir silting) within the period from 2006 to 2026 was also assessed. It was concluded that the average annual rainfall in the watershed is 323 mm, concentrating 73% in August and September; the watershed presents a number of curve (CN) of 76 with an initial abstraction (Ia) of 26 mm, the runoff coefficient is 19% and the average annual inflow is 1.7 hm³ (coefficient of variation 0.73); the water availability at 85% reliability level is estimated at 0.548 hm³/year and not 0.671 hm³/year as the original design indicates. With a sediment discharge estimated at 22,185 m³/year, it was concluded that, by the year 2026, the annual reservoir storage capacity reduction rate is 1.18% (due to siltation), causing a 41% reduction of the initial water availability. At that time, losses due to evaporation and spillway overflow totalize 81% of annual inflow. Based on these results, a Poilão reservoir operation proposal is presented. / O Arquipélago de Cabo Verde, situado na costa ocidental africana, sofre influência do deserto de Saara tornando o clima caracterizado por pluviometria muito baixa e distribuída irregularmente no espaço e no tempo. As chuvas são muito concentradas, gerando grandes escoamentos para o mar. O aumento da disponibilidade hídrica requer além da construção e manutenção de infraestrutura de captação e conservação de águas pluviais, uma gestão eficiente destes recursos. Atualmente, constitui um dos eixos estratégicos da política do Estado de Cabo Verde, a captação, o armazenamento e a mobilização de águas superficiais através de construção de barragens. Estudos do comportamento hidrológico e sedimentológico do reservatório e da sua bacia de contribuição constituem premissas básicas para adequados dimensionamento, gestão e monitoramento da referida infraestrutura. É nesse sentido que o presente estudo objetivou sistematizar informações hidrológicas e sedimentológicas da bacia hidrográfica da Barragem de Poilão (BP) e apresentou proposta operacional de longo prazo. A área de estudo ocupa 28 km² da Bacia Hidrográfica da Ribeira Seca (BHRS) na Ilha de Santiago. A altitude da bacia varia de 99 m, situada na cota da barragem, até 1394 m. Para o estudo, foram utilizados e sistematizados série pluviométrica de 1973 a 2010, registros de vazão instantânea do período 1984 a 2000 e registros agroclimáticos da área de estudo de 1981 a 2004. Para o preenchimento das falhas tanto dos escoamentos como da descarga sólida em suspensão, foi utilizado o método de curva chave. Para estimativa de produção de sedimentos na bacia, aplicou-se a Equação Universal de Perda de Solo (USLE) associada à razão de aporte de sedimentos (SDR). O índice de retenção de sedimentos no reservatório foi estimado pelo método de Brune e a distribuição de sedimento pelo método empírico de redução de área descrito por Borland e Miller e revisado por Lara. Para gerar e simular curvas de vazão versus garantia foi utilizado código computacional VYELAS, desenvolvido por Araújo e baseado na abordagem de Campos. Também foi avaliada uma possível redução da vazão de retirada do período 2006 a 2026, provocada pelo assoreamento do reservatório. Concluiu-se que, em média, a precipitação anual é de 323 mm, concentrando-se 73% nos meses de agosto e setembro; a bacia de contribuição apresenta número de curva (CN) 76, com abstração inicial (Ia) de 26 mm, coeficiente de escoamento de 19% e vazão anual afluente de 1,7 hm³ (Cv = 0,73); a disponibilidade hídrica para garantia de 85% é 0,548 hm³/ano e não 0,671 hm³/ano, como indica o projeto original da barragem. Com uma descarga sólida avaliada em 22.185 m³/ano, estima-se que, até o ano de 2026, a capacidade do reservatório seja reduzida a uma taxa de 1,8 % ao ano, devido ao assoreamento, provocando uma redução de 41% da disponibilidade hídrica inicial. Em 2026, segundo as estimativas dessa pesquisa, as perdas por evaporação e sangria deverão ser da ordem de 81% da vazão afluente ao reservatório. Na base desses resultados se apresentou proposta de operação da Barragem de Poilão.
