Demo on Network-based QoE measurement for Video streaming servicesKnoll, Thomas Martin, Eckert, Marcus 12 November 2015 (has links) (PDF)
Progressive download video services, such as YouTube, are responsible for a major part of the transmitted data volume in the Internet and it is expected, that they also will strongly affect mobile networks. Streaming video quality mainly depends on the sustainable throughput achieved during transmission. In order to achieve an acceptable video quality in mobile networks (with limited capacity resources), traffic engineering mechanisms have to be applied. For that, the streaming video quality needs to be measured and monitored permanently. Therefore, the video timestamps which are encoded within the payload of the TCP segments have to be extracted. For that it is necessary to decode the video within the transported payload. Algorithms for decoding Flash Video, MP4 and WebM Video have already been implemented as a demonstration implementation in support of the network based measurement contribution to SG12 by Chemnitz University for TCP encoded progressive download Internet services. In the demonstration, the derived play out buffering from the monitored traffic is being output internally. A second application is then used to graphically display the estimation result. The measurement and estimation is solely done within a measurement point of an operator network without access to the client’s end device.

Utveckling av demoutrustning för MOVI-C / Development of demo equipment for MOVI-CRosén, Elias January 2018 (has links)
SEW-Eurodrive (SEW) is a company that manufactures and sells products in the field of electric motors, exercise electric motors, gearboxes, decentralized electronics, motion control, frequency converters and servo systems. SEW-Eurodrive currently has a number of different demo equipment to show different product features for customers at industrial fairs. In year 2017, SEW launched its new product family, MOVI-C, in driving electronics. Because of this, a new, complete MOVI-C demo device has been developed in this project to show the features of the product family for customers at industry fairs. Before the project started the engineering department at SEW had already decided how the new demo device would demonstrate the new product family's functions. The project started with the development of a requirement specification for the demo unit. Among the requirements were that the demo unit would fit in a transport solution and clearly show what is being demonstrated. Based on this requirement specification, a concept generation was made. To find as many conceptions as possible, the main problem was broken down into sub-problems, in which multiple sub-solutions attempted to resolve. The sub-solutions were first evaluated individually to eliminate inappropriate sub-solutions. In consultation with the engineering department at SEW, some overall concepts were selected for the continued selection process through a weighted selection matrix. The weighted selection matrix rated the different concepts in a variety of criteria, and through this a whole concept has been chosen. A 3D model was created by the selected overall concept and simpler strength calculations, center of gravity calculations and design calculations were made. Manufacturing documentation in the form of drawings and order lists have been produced. Possible further developments of the resulting overall concept are stiffening angles that would make the structure more stable, as well as investigate the solutions for transport wheels more.

Democratization of the Swedish Housing PolicyBerglund, Emelie January 2023 (has links)
This report explores an alternative housing policy to Sweden’s overpriced and problematic housing situation. Research has revolved around how flexible frameworks of Swedish regulations and standardizations in the housing policy can improve sustainability through planning participation and self-building processes. Analysis has been conducted primarily through literature reviews and fieldwork where case studies have been compared relative to how participatory methods and self-built housing construction have been pertinent for their local development in the housing policy. The results provide urban housing solutions that contribute to diverse residential areas and reduce segregated neighborhoods. Furthermore, it demonstrates comprehensive social sustainabilities when residents have actively participated in the planning and construction of their neighborhood. An increased knowledge accumulated from participating and self-building also results in economic and environmental sustainability. This report strives for solutions to complex building regulations and standardizations, which must be adjusted for non-professionals. However, the results showed the difficulties in achieving a system change since political oscillations obstruct an alternative housing policy by concentrating on economic growth. Although there are difficulties within the economic-political systems, the analysis of the case studies reveals the potentialities of collaboration between municipalities and autonomous neighborhoods, which have been formulated through exceptional regulation plans. By reconsidering development where the economy is not at the center, the research demonstrates how municipalities can achieve social, ecological, and cultural growth by implementing an alternative housing policy to the existing one. These values are outcompeted by economic growth and must be re-established in society to achieve democratic sustainability. The current housing affordability crisis stresses the importance of alternatives for an equity housing policy, where self-building and participatory design methods must be accentuated in urban development in Sweden. The result of this report can operate as a platform for innovative housing development within urban contexts for self-builders and municipalities.

Modelling Ion Cyclotron Resonance Heating and Fast Wave Current Drive in TokamaksHannan, Abdul January 2013 (has links)
Fast magnetosonic waves in the ion cyclotron range of frequencies have the potential to heat plasma and drive current in a thermonuclear fusion reactor. A code, SELFO-light, has been developed to study the physics of ion cyclotron resonantheating and current drive in thermonuclear fusion reactors. It uses a global full wave solver LION and a new 1D Fokker-Planck solver for the self-consistent calculations of the wave field and the distribution function of ions.In present day tokamak experiments like DIII-D and JET, fast wave damping by ions at higher harmonic cyclotron frequencies is weak compared to future thermonuclear tokamak reactors like DEMO. The strong damping by deuterium, tritium and thermonuclear alpha-particles and the large Doppler width of fast alpha-particles in DEMO makes it difficult to drive the current when harmonic resonance layers of these ionspecies are located at low field side of the magnetic axis. At higher harmonic frequencies the possibility of fast wave current drive diminishes due to the overlapping of alpha-particle harmonic resonance layers. Narrow frequency bands suitable for the fast wave current drive in DEMO have been identified at lower harmonics of the alpha-particles. For these frequencies the effect of formation of high-energy tails in the distribution function of majority and minority ion species on the current drive have been studied. Some of these frequencies are found to provide efficient ion heating in the start up phase of DEMO. The spectrum where efficient current drive can be obtained is restricted due to weak electron damping at lower toroidal mode numbers and strong trapped electron damping at higher toroidal mode numbers. The width of toroidal mode spectra for which efficient current drive can be obtained have been identified, which has important implications for the antenna design. / <p>QC 20130327</p>
