Creating awareness of contact-making styles through movement within a gestalt context

Potgieter, Colleen Angela 11 1900 (has links)
Movement intervention in a Gestalt therapeutic setting using structured activities and free improvisation is a successful method in creating awareness of contact-making styles for late adolescents. An overview of the existing literature regarding the theoretical aspects of the interrelatedness of movement therapy, awareness, contact-making styles and the use of movement as a therapeutic intervention within a Gestalt context was presented. This included a description of the meta-theoretical assumptions that underpinned the research. A case-study consisting of eight late-adolescent females using the exploratory and descriptive nature within the qualitative research model was applied. All participants reported growth and awareness within themselves. The researcher concludes that movement intervention within a Gestalt therapeutic context can support an approach that adapts itself to the developmental phase of the individual and is a creative way of maintaining interest and focus. / Social Work / M. Bibliographic identification METLICKÁ, Martina. Testing dyspraxia of children and adolescents dancing acrobatic rock'n'roll and of children and adolescents with specific abnormalities. Prague: Charles University, 2nd Faculty of Medicine, Department of rehabilitation and sports medicine, 2015. 91p. Supervisor MUDr. Josef Kraus, CSc. Abstract The theoretical part of this thesis briefly summarizes the findings of developmental dyspraxia and briefly characterizes different diseases encountered by tested subjects from a test sample of children with specific abnormalities, neurofibromatosis type 1 and Asperger's syndrome, and explores their relationship with developmental dyspraxia. The possibility of using dance therapy is also mentioned. The practical part is focused on evaluating the level of motor skills of children with specific abnormalities and children's rock and roll dancers using the Movement Assessment Battery for Children 2. Another objective is to determine whether the level of motor skills correlates with the level of attention tested by the Test of attention d2. The final goal is to assess the degree of physical activity of rock and roll dancers using the accelerometer ActiGraph GT3X. We confirm the presence of motor difficulties of children with specific abnormalities, however we did not confirm...

Empatins betydelse i konstnärliga terapier : en intervjustudie

Forsmo, Katrin January 2015 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to investigate the importance of empathy in different artistic therapies. A hermeneutic approach is used in both the method and the analytical reading. The foundation for the analysis has been three interviewers with three therapists. The concept of empathy is described throw a development- psychological perspective and a psychodynamic perspective. Five summarize themes where found from the interviews. 1 The empathic purpose. 2 The therapist as a good example. 3 Artistic creativity. 4 Intersubjectivity. 5 Process of change. In the discussion the empathy-concept is being studied. How it is being used. And a need of describing intersubjective processes which is a prerequisite for empathy. The basic intersubjective interaction has a close relation to the artistic interactionforms which the therapists are using practically and theoretically.

Efeito da dança circular comparada aos exercícios de estabilização segmentar lombar na lombalgia crônica inespecífica: ensaio clínico controlado aleatório / Effect of circular dance compared to lumbar segmental stabilization exercises in unspecific chronic low back pain: randomized controlled clinical trial

Barreto, Juerila Moreira 28 February 2019 (has links)
CONCLUSÃO: Os resultados apontam que as danças circulares são tão eficazes quanto os exercícios de estabilização lombar no tratamento de dor lombar crônica inespecífica / INTRODUCTION: Nonspecific chronic low back pain (NSCLCP) is a public health and socioeconomic problem responsible for the reduction of worker\'s functional capacity, and women are more affected. Circular Dance (CD) have been used in primary health care as an integrative and complementary practice to improve several aspects like flexibility, posture, strength and muscular endurance, reducing pain and tension. Lumbar Segmental Stabilization (LSS) exercises have been used as gold standard in the therapeutic approach of this alteration. OBJECTIVE: To compare the effect of CD with LSS exercises on pain and functional disability in women with nonspecific chronic low back pain (NSCLBP). METHOD: Thirty-eight women, aged 35-60 years, were randomly assigned to two groups: 1) Circular Dance group (CDg); 2) Lumbar Stabilization Exercise group (LSEg). The primary clinical outcomes were pain, assessed using the Numerical Pain Scale and functional disability by the Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire and the secondary outcomes were: Depression assessed by the Beck Depression Inventory; Anxiety by the Numerical Anxiety Scale; Global Perception with the Global Effect Perception Scale, Signs and Symptoms of Adverse Effects analyzed by the Collective Subject Discourse and Quality of Life method using the Short-Form Health Survey Questionnaire (SF-36). The groups were treated twice a week for 60 minutes, for 8 weeks, in total 16 sessions. Each participant was assessed before and after treatment and at follow-up 12 and 24 weeks. RESULTS: The results showed that there were no significant differences in any variables related to the primary and secondary outcomes between the groups studied, except for the pain variable in the SF-36 (p < 0.05) at the 24th week of follow-up. CONCLUSION: The results indicate that circular dances are as effective as lumbar stabilization exercises in the treatment of non-specific chronic low back pain

Delabary, Marcela dos Santos January 2018 (has links)
Background: Parkinson's disease (PD), characterized as progressive and neurodegenerative, is one of the most frequent neurological diseases of the present time. Patients with PD present motor impairment, such as muscle stiffness, rest tremor, slow movements, postural instability, and gait and balance alterations; And non-motor factors, such as cognitive and neuropsychiatric disorders, depressive symptoms, and a consequent decrease in quality of life (QL). Although walking is traditionally considered a medical recommendation in the non-pharmacological treatment of PD, dance has emerged as an important tool in the complementary treatment of these patients when added to traditional drug therapies. Objective: Verify and compare the effects of a program of dance and walking in functional mobility, motor parameters and QL of people with PD. Methods: the sample was composed of 18 participants with PD, divided into two non-randomized groups: dance group (DG; n = 12) and walking group (WG; n = 6). The data collection instruments used were be a personal data sheet of the patients, the Hoehn and Yahr Scale (HY), the Timed Up and Go test (TUG), the motor part of the Unified PD Rating Scale (UPDRS III), locomotor rehabilitation index (LRI), the kinematic walk analysis and the Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire (PDQ- 39). The normality of the descriptive data at the initial time of the research was verified through the Shapiro-Wilk Test, using the Wilcoxon Test for non-parametric data and the paired t-test for parametric data. For the research outcomes, the Generalized Estimating Equations (GEE) analysis was used to compare the GD and GC groups, the pre and post intervention moments, and the time group interaction. A Bonferroni post-hoc was used to identify the differences between means in all variables. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software version 20.0 was used to analyze the data. The significance level adopted for both tests was α <0.05. Results: A detailed protocol of interventions was performed. The two groups showed significant improvements after the intervention in relation to functional mobility in comfortable velocity (CV) (p = 0.02) and in fast velocity (FV) (p = 0.02), at stance time (StT) (Left leg CV, p = 0.0028); right leg FV, p = 0.009; left leg, FV p = 0.025), and swing time (SwT) (left leg CV, p = 0,0028), at double support phase (DSF) (rigth leg FV, p < 0,001), a general QL (p = 0,004), and to emotional well-being (p = 0.001), cognition (p = 0.020) and body discomfort (p = 0.008). The DG presented better results in comparison to the WG for the outcomes of Frequency of steps (FS) (p = 0.011) and the domain of activities of daily living (ADLs) (p = 0.049). The two interventions showed significant improvements regarding functional mobility, time of contact (TC), time of balance (TB), the perception of general QL, and domains of emotional well-being, cognition and body discomfort. The DG presented better results compared to the WG for the step frequency, double support phase and the domain of daily living activities. Conclusion: Both groups, DG and WG, showed significant improvements after the intervention period, demonstrating that dance is as efficient than walking for functional mobility, motor parameters and the QL for individuals with PD.

Možnosti prevence s využitím geriatrických principů: Funkční stav a depresivita ve stáří / Possibilities of prevention reflecting geriatric principles: Functional status and depressivity in old age

Vaňková, Hana January 2015 (has links)
Possibilities of prevention reflecting geriatric principles: Functional status and depressivity in old age Hana Vaňková, MD Abstract Background: Given the population ageing in Europe and in the Czech Republic, strategies aiming to prevent functional decline in older age are of great importance. Depression in old age increases functional decline and is also associated with increased morbidity, mortality and deterioration of quality of life (Anstey et al., 2007; Karakaya et al., 2009). Therefore, there is a need for a comprehensive intervention addressing both functional status and depressive symptoms. Methods: Using comprehensive geriatric assessment, the relationship between functional status and depressive symptoms was examined in 308 residents of long-term care facilities (RCFs) in the Czech Republic. Depressive symptoms were measured using the 15-item Geriatric Depression Scale. An additional randomized control trial (RCT) evaluated the effect of a dance-based therapy on depressive symptoms in 162 institutionalized older adults with average age over 80 years. Results: A multiple regression analyses adjusted for sociodemographic factors and for taking antidepressants found that cognitive function and functional limitation by pain were most strongly associated with depressive symptoms. The ability to...

This work is outlined from a hybrid education in art and psychology - specifically in dance and clinical psychology - and reflects upon a mode of intervention in the mental health field, acting at the intersection between clinical and dance considering both practices as experiments triggering for creating strategies invention of self and other modes of existence. In this sense, we seek to map the experience of a practice / intervention that occurred in a Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS), Mental Health Service for the treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation of individuals with severe mental disorders. From the cartography as a research methodology, we seek compose a map of creative processes, working with the reverberations of this experience as possible conductive to new territories subjective. In our method we dived in the materiality of lived experience, trying to give visibility to the intensive field created as traces of encounters that make us turn old concepts and produce new meanings to life. We changed our ways of working with madness and with research in a marked look for the esthetic of subtle events; we savor the effects of this delivery, supporting their joys and silences, while we rotate our sorrows and fears. We invented another time for meetings in the CAPS, seeding new landscapes. Thus, the paper proposes a reflection on the practices of reinvention of work in health services, pointing to intersection with artistic languages as extension of power in creating practical interventions and crossbreed processes that expand the boundaries of clinical and strategies of health production / Mestrado / Política, Planejamento e Gestão em Saúde / Mestra em Saúde Coletiva
