PARENTAL FOOD CHOICE FOR THEIR PRESCHOOL AGED CHILD: A MEANS-END INVESTIGATIONElizabeth I Kielb (10955094) 04 August 2021 (has links)
<p>Preschoolers
in the US are not meeting dietary guidelines, which is concerning since
experience with foods during early childhood may influence food preferences in
later life. To better understand why preschoolers are not meeting dietary
guidelines it is necessary to understand the factors that influence why parents
offer their children specific foods. The purpose of this study was to use the
means-end framework and the laddering interview technique to better understand <i>why </i>parents of preschoolers decide to offer
their children certain foods and <i>why</i> certain feeding strategies are
helpful. A total of
33 parents of preschoolers (3–5-year-olds) completed one-on-one phone
interviews regarding the foods they typically offer their child. Laddering data were elicited for
three food groupings: foods parents typically offer, foods parents typically
avoid, and foods parents prefer to offer. The resulting data were analyzed and
summarized in a series of hierarchical value maps (HVMs). Parent and child-centric themes
emerged as factors that influenced the foods parents offered their preschooler.
The results of this study provide insight into the meanings and beliefs that
impact the food decisions and feeding strategies used by parents of
preschoolers.</p>

Trestná činnost v souvislosti s veřejnými zakázkami / Criminal liability in public procurementsRichter, Martin January 2020 (has links)
1 ABSTRACT Criminal liability in public procurements The thesis deals with the criminal liability in public procurements. Public procurement is a very complex and organized activity, the criminal assessment of which, however, cannot reliably lead to satisfactory results on the basis of existing doctrine. The primary goal of this work is therefore to identify the roles and extent of criminal liability of individual actors in the decision- making process of public administration and on this basis to analyze which type of negotiations concerning public procurement may be punished under a special part of the Criminal Code. The importance of effective prosecution of criminal offenses relating to public procurement results from the fact that amount of funds in public procurement correspond to tenth of gross domestic product. For easier orientation of the reader, a formal structure was chosen so that, as far as possible, it comes as close as possible to the standard criminal law teaching on elements of a crime. Specifically, the chapters are divided into actions in public administration, its criminal relevance, the consequence in public administration, the subject, the subjective aspect, circumstances precluding illegality and finally to crimes related to public procurement. From the material point of view, the...

Effortless shopping : A qualitative study of Gen Z's shopping behaviour and how they value the environmental sustainability in the fashion industryHjertquist, Jonna, Jung, Sofie January 2020 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to gain a deeper understanding of Gen Z’s structure in the buying decision-making process and how they value environmental sustainability within the fashion industry. In this context, the following research questions was formulated: (1) What structure does the buyer decision-making process follow for Gen Z when it comes to apparel shopping? (2) How does Gen Z value environmental sustainability when buying apparel? Theories used in the literature review have included the main concepts of sustainability in the fashion industry, the buyer decision-making process and Gen Z. In order to clarify the relationship between the main concepts a conceptual framework was presented, which together with the theoretical framework was used to analyse the empirical data. The empirical data of this study refers to the collection of multiple interviews with individuals born between 1996-2002. By following a qualitative research method an understanding of Gen Z´s shopping behaviour and whether they are affected by environmental issues was collected. With regard to the concept being a relatively unexplored area in the business research, this thesis is based on a deductive research approach. It was concluded that the Gen Z does not follow the traditional structure of the buyer decision-making process and do not value environmental sustainability when buying apparel. Finally, the minority purchasing sustainable apparel have a higher involvement in their buyer decision-making process due to their motivation towards sustainable choices.

Millennials’ experiences with second-hand shopping online : A qualitative study about experiences, decision-making, and sustainabilityHintz, Matti, Josipovic, Natalija January 2022 (has links)
Purpose - The purpose of this study is to investigate online shopping experiences and the perception of used goods among Millennials. This paper will assess how different aspect influences the Millennials' consumption of second-hand goods in a sustainable manner and regarding their decision-making process. Design/methodology/approach - To address the research questions, qualitative methods were used, including 24 semi-structured interviews with Millennials between 22 and 36 years old, who shop second-hand on Swedish online marketplaces. Findings - The findings reveal various experiences of Millennials when buying and selling used goods online, and the reason for it being considered a trend today. Young people prefer to buy and sell used goods online, and favor Facebook Marketplace over other platforms. Moreover, Millennials are being influenced by the idea that buying and selling used goods is sustainable consumption. The affordable prices, however, are more motivating. In most cases, Millennials made sustainable buying decisions without considering sustainability. It does not appear that environmental concerns were a primary factor in these decisions. When selling used products, on the other hand, the factor of sustainability outweighs the factor of making money. These findings suggest that different motivations play a role in Millennials' buying and selling of used goods. Practical implication - The Millennial generation is highly interested in buying and selling second-hand goods online. As a result of this trend, "traditional" companies need to expand their offerings to attract and retain this customer group. Furthermore, they should also consider the different motivational factors involved in buying and selling used products. Originality/value - This study examined Millennials’ various experiences, taking a closer look at environmental concerns while buying and selling second-hand goods online. Furthermore, it is investigated which role the decision-making process has in their overall consumption of used goods.

Collegiality and the interplay between modes of governanceSoltani Shahsanami, Sara, Vickers, Emelie January 2021 (has links)
As an under-researched form of coordination and control, little is known of how collegiality is practiced, especially in for-profit firms. Our thesis has sought to address this research gap by interviewing professionals from two fields which are recognized as collegial, namely lawyers and architects. Our aim was to depict how for-profit firms coordinate and control using collegiality in relation to the traditional modes of governance of bureaucracy and management. We do this by utilizing the concept of institutional logics which focuses on field-level meaning systems and how actors use these systems of values, beliefs and expectations to make sense of their institutional environment. We could observe a clear coexistence of all three modes of governance. Our respondents indicated an awareness of the different logics and demonstrated an understanding of which governance mode was called for in which situation. This interplay was highly contextual and contingent on each situation's institutional demands and expectations. Collegial values were keenly advocated, yet work tasks that were legalized were also bureaucratized. The coexistence of fundamentally contradictory governance modes did not however appear to meet much internal resistance and seemed to rather function peacefully with wide employee acceptance.

Artificiell nutrition och hydrering till patienter i det terminala skedet : En litteraturstudie om sjuksköterskors medverkan i beslutsprocessen. / Artificial nutrition and hydration to patients in the terminal stage of life : A literature review regarding nurses’ participation in the decision-making process.Pettersson, Mickaela, Svensson, Elin January 2020 (has links)
Elva vetenskapliga artiklar användes i resultatet. / Introduction: The decision making process regarding artificial nutrition and hydration (ANH) at the terminal stage of life has been a highly topical subject worldwide. Preschool Teachers' Decision-Making Process in Reporting Child AbuseNguyen-Vu, MyTra Thi 01 January 2018 (has links)
Despite being mandated reporters by law, preschool teachers often fail to report suspicion of child abuse or neglect. Although research has been conducted regarding reasons why teachers do not report, no study has yet examined preschool teachers' thinking as decisions are being made. Therefore, the purpose of the study was to examine the in-the-moment decision-making process of preschool teachers to report or not report cases of suspected child abuse or neglect. Three research questions guided this exploration of teachers' responses to cases of possible child abuse or neglect, the reasons teachers give for their responses, and their confidence in the correctness of their decisions to report or not to report child abuse or neglect. The conceptual framework for this study was the ethical decision-making model of Meneghetti and Seel. The research was a phenomenological study using the think aloud protocol of van Someren, Barnard, and Sandberg. Three scenarios of possible child abuse cases were used as the basis for the face-to-face interviews in which 6 lead preschool teachers described their thought processes. The purposeful sample comprised 6 lead teachers in a major city in the United States with children aged 2 through 5. A thematic analysis method and coding strategy were used to answer the research questions. The findings in this study were consistent with the literature in that most of the teachers did not elect to report their suspicion of child abuse or neglect, but were inhibited by lack of clear understanding of what constitutes abuse and neglect, and by a desire for more information. This study contributes to positive social change by indicating a need for more training of preschool teachers in their mandated reporter role, which can result in more confident decision making and greater success in protecting young children.
