Background: A maioria dos métodos de rastreamento do câncer de colo de útero depende da colposcopia para a confirmação do diagnóstico. A colposcopia sofre com a falta de disponibilidade, a necessidade de longos deslocamentos por parte das pacientes e longas filas de espera. Objetivo: Avaliar o desempenho da Fotografia Cervical Digital como um método alternativo à colposcopia. Método: Foram realizadas colposcopies e Fotografias Digitais Cervicais em 228 pacientes. As Fotografias Digitais Cervicais foram avaliadas através da internet por três colposcopistas experientes. A concordância entre os métodos foi calculada através de Kappa e as porcentagens de concordância. Sensibilidade, especificidade, valor preditivo positivo, valor preditivo negativo e acuracia diagnóstica foram calculados para a colposcopia e a Fotografia Cervical Digital. A histologia foi utilizada como padrão-ouro. Resultados: A Fotografia Cervical Digital e a colposcopia concordaram em 89,9% dos casos (K=0,588). A Fotografia Cervical Digital e a colposcopia apresentaram desempenhos comparáveis, a sensibilidade foi de 52,5% e 35,0%, a especificidade de 91,86% e 91,28%, o valor preditivo positivo de 60,0% e 48,3%, valor preditivo negativo de 89,3% e 85,8%, e a acurácia diagnóstica de 84,4% e 80,7%, respectivamente. Conclusão: A Fotografia Cervical Digital é um método alternativo promissor à colposcopia. / Background: Most cervical cancer screening methods relies on colposcopy to confirm the diagnosis. Colposcopy suffers from the lack of availability, long patients’ displacement and waiting times. Objective: Evaluate the performance of the Cervical Digital Photography as an alternative method to colposcopy. Methods: Colposcopy and Cervical Digital Photography were performed in 228 women. The Cervical Digital Photographs were evaluated through internet by 3 colposcopy experts. The agreement between methods was calculated with kappa and percentages of agreement. Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and diagnostic accuracy were calculated for colposcopy and Cervical Digital Photography. Histology was the gold standard. Results: Cervical Digital Photography and colposcopy agreed in 89.9% of the cases (K=0.588). Cervical Digital Photography and colposcopy had comparable performances, sensitivity was 52.5% and 35.0%, specificity was 91.86% and 91.28%, positive predictive value was 60.0% and 48.3%, negative predictive value was 89.3% and 85.8%, and diagnostic accuracy was 84.4% and 80.7%, respectively. Conclusion: Cervical Digital Photography is a promising alternative method to colposcopy.

Both the analogical and the digital photograph are analyzed from its origin, technical and technological evolution, and also its historicity, considering the intrinsic and extrinsic attributes of photographs. Debates about both types of images are also theoretical support for the research, as well as its broad application range, from scholarly research to home use. Visual perception related to the Arts and Aesthetics, especially in what regards semantic information and information in the Arts, besides the objective paradigm and the peircean signs theory are subjects of thorough exploration. The construction of a conception for digital photographic information is supported by the differential between analogic photography and digital photography, related to the image capture, aesthetic accuracy, manipulations of image, and protocols that aim towards semantic and aesthetics content of the digital photographic image.

Because luminance is the only value to which our sight responds, its measurement becomes important in terms of ensuring the proper function of vision. Nowadays luminance measuring can be made by conventional methods, such as direct using of luminance meter. However an entirely new method of measuring luminance levels is coming. This method is based on using luminance analyzers which work using a digital photography for the analysis of luminance. This thesis deals with these issues and is divided into several chapters, which form the two main parts of the thesis, the theoretical and the practical one. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the basics of lighting technology, as well as the principles of measuring the luminance using conventional methods. New methods of measurement, i.e. using luminance analyzers, are discussed in two chapters which analyse both the principle and characteristics of analyzers available today. In the practical part is a comparative measurement carried out – in the laboratory and in terrain – using both methods.

Objectives: Based on both recommended and other literature, discuss the evolution of photography (analogue and digital photography, photographic types and genres) and hint at the specifics of photographic production in comparison with classical art media. Discuss the expressive possibilities of manipulated photography (PC photography editing, collage, photomontage, etc.), with attention to applicability of photography in elementary school education. Consider organic inter-discplinary relations between the art class and other classes. Design a didactic project for an art class, based on the Framework Education Programme for Basic Education. The project should employ digital photography as a specific and accessible art medium and should be practically validated. It should focus on experiments and etudes, in which students would use photography as an accessible tool to experience and create art. We will discuss here the issue of manipulation in the digital era of photojournalism. At first we will describe the relation between photography and its referent inculding its ability to represent the reality. Depicting the contrast between analogue and digital photography we will point out the independent position of digital photography from its referent, which is creating better possibilities for manipulation and decreasing the credibility of photography. Then we will analyze the text The Dusk of Photojournalism? that is reflecting these perspective and offering the solution increasing the position of the relation between photography and its referent. By contrast we will analyze the text called Photojournalism is dead, long live photojournalism. Why digitization can increase the credibility of journalistic photography? which considers this perspective as obsolete and offers us the new perspective of the relation between photography and its viewers, that could increase the credibility of photography in photojournalism. The thesis deals with visual culture and digital photography in art education of pre-school children. The main objective is to uncover children's ability to work with a specific type of picture - photographic picture. The educational project is based on theoretical knowledge of digital media provided in the first part of the thesis and on practical experience gained during several years of practice with pre-school children. The project offers children to use digital photographs as another form of art expression. Talking with children and monitoring their reactions have shown that working with digital photographs is equally beneficial to them as any other art technique.

The diploma thesis The Photo Album and Syntagm in the Web 2.0 Environment deals with problems of digital photographic collections shared in the web 2.0 environment. The thesis tries to express the basic principles of online photo albums referring to their characteristics, social function, method of arrangement and classification of individual photos. The aim is to verify the assumption that the photo album in the web 2.0 environment loses its narrative function and becomes a set of photos as modular fragments, whose sequence is made to be easily rearrangeable. The thesis is outlined in an interdisciplinary method, in examining of web photo albums it combines knowledge from studies of new media, sociology, philosophy and semiotics. The diploma thesis verifies validity of new medial theories of Lev Manovich in the environment of web digital photo albums and continues in his analyses of behaviour of users of the Instagram social network. As a part of the thesis there is also the own quantitative research, which with its form approximates to the sociological study of Pierre Bourdieu in 60s of the 20th century, devoted to social use of photography. Photo Album and its Transformation in Cyberspace Abstract My thesis deals with the difference in the perception of photo albums in the digital and analog era. Her goal is the reflection of change of a collection of a photographic material from an intimate information to a publicly accessible online self-presentation. This leads to the change in functionality of the photographical media which originally preserved the reality and now creates it. This document focuses on processing of RAW image data from digital cameras. In first section is described principle of image capturing by digital camera, common way of image processing in the device and what the RAW format is, its pros and cons. In the next section is described existing demosaicing methods, methods for additional processing of RAW image data and there is analyzed specific RAW format, Canon's CR2, including structure and guide for its conversion. Next sections contains proposal of the new improved demosaicing method and method for suppressing digital noise. On this basis a library for basic CR2 files processing was implemented. There is comparison of methods for processing RAW image data with this library in the next section. In the conclusion there is summary of finished work and there is also mentioned outline of future work.
