The thesis deals with liquid aprotic electrolytes based on mixtures of ionic liquid and solvent. EmimBF4, namely 1-ethyl-3-ethylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, was used as the starting ionic liquid. A mixture of propylene carbonate, ethylene carbonate and dimethyl carbonate was used as solvents. Electrolytes were enriched with two electrolyte salts LiBF4 and NaBF4 from the resulting mixtures selected the most suitable electrolytes for Li-ion and Na-ion accumulators. Electrolytes were selected taking into account the required properties: the width of the potential window, the measured electrical conductivity and, last but not least, the safety.

The created development environment and runtime are used and demonstrated on the sample solution.

The aim of this study is a design of a control and signalling unit for sport meetings controlled by a microcontroller. The unit should display the time, the state of the match, eventually another data important for a course of the match. It should be fitted by an audible alarm of the end of the match. A touch control panel with a liquid crystal display serves as input of control data. The unit operates in a countdown mode, it is possible anytime to start or to stop the time by pressing the button. The equipment is mains-operated and backed up by an external battery. In the case of a power failure, it is switched over to the battery. A representation of the time, the state of the match and other data is done by LED displays. The unit allows a connection to PC.

Using the method of qualitative content analysis, my research is focused on the visual and ideological representation of antagonists in eight PC games of first-person shooter genre (FPS), released between 2007 and 2019. The analysis is based on the identification of the stereotypical antagonistic representations. Its main attention is devoted to the ethnic and national stereotypes, because antagonists are ethnic and national Others in relation to protagonists. I aimed to define another summarizing and defining criterion of antagonistic representation, apart from the categories of othering already mentioned. In my thesis, I also describe ideological aspects which frame antagonistic representation. For the analysis of ideological content, I use Pötzsch's selective realism, which, by means of the four filters (violence, consequence, character and conflict) excludes negative and controversial aspects of war from FPS games. Not only does selective realism presents war selectively, it represents antagonistic actions selectively, too. In the text, I identify the stereotypical representations of three ethnic-national groups - orientalism and Cold War stereotypes in the case of Russians, neo-orientalism in the case of Middle Eastern antagonists and techno-orientalism in the case of East Asians. Selection of Sufficient Adjustment Sets for Causal Inference : A Comparison of Algorithms and Evaluation Metrics for Structure Learning

Causal graphs are essential tools to find sufficient adjustment sets in observational studies. Subject matter experts can sometimes specify these graphs, but often the dependence structure of the variables, and thus the graph, is unknown even to them. In such cases, structure learning algorithms can be used to learn the graph. Early structure learning algorithms were implemented for either exclusively discrete or continuous variables. Recently, methods have been developed for structure learning on mixed data, including both continuous and discrete variables. In this thesis, three structure learning algorithms for mixed data are evaluated through a simulation study. The evaluation is based on graph recovery metrics and the ability to find a sufficient adjustment set for the average treatment effect (ATE). Depending on the intended purpose of the learned graph, the different evaluation metrics should be given varying attention. It is also concluded that the pcalg+micd algorithm learns graphs such that it is possible to find a sufficient adjustment set for the ATE in more than 99% of the cases. Moreover, the learned graphs from pcalg+micd are the most accurate compared to the true graph using the largest sample size.

Frågeställning:     1. Hur inflytelserika är de fyra oberoende variablerna: socialt inflytande, varumärkestillit, varumärkeslojalitet och priskänslighet i studenters köpbeslut av laptop?2. Finns det skillnad i sambanden mellan studenters köpbeslut av Apple respektive PC laptops?  Syfte:   Syftet med studien är att analysera sambandet mellan köpbeslutet och varumärkeslojalitet, varumärkestillit, socialt inflytande samt priskänslighet i kontext till laptops hos studenter inom akademin för ekonomi, samhälle och teknik hos Mälardalens universitet.  Metod:                       Denna studie är baserad på en kvantitativ forskningsmetod där data samlats in via en digital enkätundersökning. Detta resulterade i att 285 medverkade i undersökningen. En teorimodell utformades tillsammans med tillhörande hypoteser. Resultatet undersöktes med multipel linjär regressionsanalys i IBM SPSS statistics.  Slutsats:                     Resultatet visade att varumärkeslojalitet är den mest avgörande variabeln bland studenternas köpbeslut av laptops, särskilt bland Apple användare. Varumärkestillit är samtidigt en viktig variabel för studenternas köpbeslut, främst hos PC användare där resultatet visar att varumärkestillit är viktigare hos dem än för Apple användare. Utöver detta visade resultatet att priskänslighet har ett negativt inflytande hos Apple-användare. Inga slutsatser kan dras om socialt inflytandes påverkan över studenternas köpbeslut för vare sig PC eller Apple användare. / Research questions: 1. How influential are the four independent variables social influence: brand trust, brand loyalty and price sensitivity in students' decision to buy a laptop? 2. Is there a difference in the relationship between students' purchase decisions of Apple and PC laptops? Purpose:                     The purpose of the study is to analyze the connection between the purchase decision and brand loyalty, brand trust, social influence and price sensitivity in the context of laptops among students in the Academy of Economics, Society and Engineering at Mälardalen University. Method:                     This study has been based on a quantitative research method where data was collected via a digital survey. This resulted in 285 participated in the survey. A theoretical model was designed together with associated hypotheses. The results were examined with a correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis in the system IBM SPSS statistics. Conclusion:             The results showed that brand loyalty is the most crucial variable among students' purchasing decisions of laptops, especially for Apple users. At the same time, brandtrust is an important variable for students' purchasing decisions, mainly among PC users, where the results show that brandtrust is more important than for Apple users. In addition to this result, price sensitivity was shown to have a negative impact on Apple users. No conclusions can be drawn if social influence is affected by students' purchasing decisions for either PC or Apple users.

Context-aware applications for a Pocket PC

With the rapid development of technology for context awareness, pervasive computing is releasing people from their traditional desktops. Since mobile devices feature portability and are (nearly) always connected, people tend to carry them wherever they go. Hence, devices such as cellular phones and Pocket PCs are the most suitable platforms for developing context aware applications which users will utilize in their daily life. For these context aware systems, using this context information not only improves the user experience of ubiquitous computing, but also lets the system know who you are or what you have. More importantly, the device can know where you are and predict what you might like to do, thus simplifying many of the user’s interactions with devices and other people around them. This thesis project involves the design, implementation and evaluation of a context aware application, based upon a Pocket PC, that can remind the user of tasks when the user approaches the relevant location for this task. The application interacts with a context aware infrastructure by using the SIP for Instant Messaging and Presence Leveraging Extensions (SIMPLE) protocol, receives context information for the user described using XML. A number of new tags, based upon a new XML schema, have been introduced for this task. This context aware mechanism enables the user to receive any form of information updated by the context server. In this thesis, updates to this information are driven by changes in the user’s location. Additionally, by using the existing calendar application on the Pocket PC, the user can experience location based reminders without learning how to use a new user interface. / Med den snabba utvecklingen av kontextmedvetna teknologier befriar den genomträngande datoriseringen människor från deras traditionella datorer. Eftersom mobila apparater medför bärbarhet och är (nästan) alltid uppkopplade, tenderar människor att bära dem överallt. Följaktligen blir apparater som mobiltelefoner och Pocket-PC de mest passande plattformarna för utvecklandet avkontextmedvetna applikationer för daglig användning. För dessa kontextmedvetna system kommer inte bara användandet av kontexinformation förbättra användarens upplevelse av överallt förekommande datorisering, utan låter även systemet veta vem du är eller vad du har. ännu viktigare är att apparaten kan veta var du befinner dig samt förutsäga vad du skulle kunna vilja göra, och därigenom förenkla mycket av användarens interaktion med andra apparater och människor i omgivningen. Detta examensarbetsprojekt involverar designen, implementationen och evalueringen av en kontextmedvetet applikation, baserad på en Pocket-PC, som kan påminna användaren om uppgifter när användaren närmar sig det relevanta området för dessa uppgifter. Applikationen interagerar med en kontextmedveten infrastruktur genom användandet av protokollet “SIP for Instant Messaging and Presence Leveraging Extensions (SIMPLE)”, mottas kontextinformation för användaren beskriven i XML-format. Ett antal nya taggar, baserade på en ny XML-schema, har introducerats för denna uppgift. Denna kontextmedvetna mekanism gör det möjligt för användaren att ta emot alla typer av uppdaterad information från kontextservern. I denna avhandling uppdateras denna information genom att användaren förflyttar sig. Dessutom kan användaren, genom att använda den befintliga kalenderapplikationen i Pocket-PC:n, få lägesbaserade påminnelser skickade till sig utan att behöva lära sig använda ännu ett interface.
