Sea Bathing architrecture in Arcachon. From neoclassicism to the first form of Art Nouveau.

Dotte, Isabelle 06 April 2018 (has links)
Traditionally, the inhabitants of La Teste used to bathe on the beach of Arcachon. As early as the beginning of the 19th century, a wooden hut was rented out to foreigners who dared to visit this unknown shore of the bay. The first accommodations in relation with sea bathing appeared not before the 1820 s’. These buildings reflected the neoclassical features, according to the architectural standards of the time. Most of the first 'chalets' were built in the same style, some of them showing some additional details. An architectural diversity was really settled in 1863 with the creation of the Winter Town, a medical district designed to cure tuberculosis. 'Swiss chalets', cottages and other eclectic constructions erected among the pines on the sand dunes gave to the recent town of Arcachon (1857) a new medical dimension and a modern architectural development. As anywhere else along the western shores of France, the picturesque style was so successful as to invade every part of the town. Till local styles - néo-landais, néo-basque- appeared in the1920 s, it was the only one used in the buildings of the new districts in the autumn and spring towns, as well as in Moulleau. Which can mean it was the best answer at this time, in terms of seaside architecture.

Lina e Lucio / Lina and Lucio

Suzuki, Marcelo 14 June 2010 (has links)
Lina Bo Bardi and Lucio Costa were brazilian important intelectual-architects of the 20th century. Their pathways, very differents in their principles and in their causes, have a lot in common on their effects. Relating the importance of their public actions in all the aspects concerning intelligence and architecture have been the object of lots of new researches, with renewed interest. In this aspect, we present our version of their actions, developed in art and in technique - antique or modern -, in political and social foreground, in everyday life and urban life, and, to say one word, architecture. The intention is to locate and identify the differences and the common points of actions in their trajectories and also make comments concerning what was happening among them or in spite of them. In their history context, the adventures and, most of all, the discontentments that they have been through - and they were many. But they reacted and carried on. The impassioned intelligence together with the cheer to labor on is impressive. The chapters that are named by specific works tend to be a bit zig-zagging. They jump from works to facts in the attemp to explain technical processes and historical facts in which this works are inserted.

Mélès, Baptiste 06 December 2011 (has links)
Following the example of Agrippa, a lot a sceptics argued that, because of the plurality of philosophical systems, there could be no unique philosophical truth: contradictory systems could not be true at the same time. But this argument presupposes that this plurality is itself irrational. And yet some philosophers took the diversity of philosophical systems as rational, suggesting that reason was able to take possession of its own boundary: Kant, in the “History of pure reason” of the Critique of Pure Reason (1781); Hegel, in the Lessons on the History of Philosophy (1805–1830); Victor Cousin, in his books Du Vrai, du beau et du bien (1828) and the Histoire générale de la philosophie (1863); Charles Renouvier, in the Esquisse d’une classification systématique des doctrines philosophiques (1885–1886); and Jules Vuillemin, in Necessity or Contingency (1984).By examining the internal structure of each of these attempts, we can show their main criteria, their general mathematical form, and their philosophical aim. Kant’s “History of Pure Reason” uses the fundamental concepts of criticism, plays a structuring role in the Critique of Pure Reason, and forecasts the perpetual peace of criticism. Hegel’s Lessons are neither an empirical summary nor a biased history of philosophy: they are grounded on Hegel’s Logic and Phenomenology, and reveal the internal dialectic of systems. Renouvier’s classification is not a posteriori, but combines an a priori table of categories with a theory of contradiction. Finally, Vuillemin’s classification of systems, which is grounded on a classification of elementary sentences, is a generalization of Kant’s classification. Only Victor Cousin’s classification is a posteriori. These classifications find their roots in the fundamental concepts of each of these systems. A philosophical system is thus able to account not only for the world, but also for other systems and for their relationship. The relationship between systems is not less structural than systems themselves are.

Antonio Campi (1523-1587). Mezi manýrou a barokem. / Antonio Campi (1523-1587). Between Mannerism and Baroque.

Hlušičková, Pavla January 2015 (has links)
The dissertation evaluated the formal, stylistic and contextual analysis of the painting oeuvre of the Cremonese native Antonio Campi. Monographic elaboration of Campi's oeuvre complement to the existing range of syntheses a number of information that has been in the literature so far omitted. The work assessed Antonio's oeuvre on the revision of archival material preserved in Milanese and Cremonese state and church archives, as well as by the means of thorough study of the secondary literature. Chronology of Campi's production was based on the stylistic and formal analysis and at the same time it has been enriched by a number of comparisons of the Lombardy-Ligurian region. Perspective at Antonio's oeuvre was accompanied by drawings and panel paintings that have emerged in the art market in recent years. With this thorough analysis, it became clear that the simple definition of an older Italian scientific literature that had Antonio Campi understood as a painter, who by his work formed the basis of Caravaggio chiaroscuro approach in the last decades of the 16th century and in the early years of the 17th age, proved to be inaccurate. It became clear that with this view we can not identify ourselves any more. Constant changes in mood, surprise, unpredictability, restlessness and individuality, the...
