Immersed in a research project that provided education in environmental education processes, this research sought to understand how these educational activities have approached the subjects involved. So we had to point out the challenges and opportunities / potential of a methodological process of construction for Environmental Education Programs in licensing from an experience report. The theoretical and methodological premises that supported this research are guided in a critical perspective. Also, emancipatory Environmental Education is linked to its methodological development in a participatory manner in Projects and Programs implemented over an environmental license. By using the methodological strategy of ethnographic qualitative research style, it means an adaptation of ethnography when the focus refers to studies of educational processes. It was possible to observe and analyze some elements which is believed to be methodological relevant to this proposal. Among the main aspects pointed, it was identified at the time as the main challenge in implementing the EEP. However, many possibilities such as learning, reflecting, questioning, participating, and meeting reality itself were experienced. And even discovering local potential as the relationship that subjects have with the place where they live and organized local leaderships and related to religious groups. Such aspects are configured as a strong ally to understand the reasons which led people to continue or not the movement undertaken by the EEP. And also to demonstrate the extent to which a participatory approach is consistent with the reality of the people involved and the goals of emancipatory proposal and criticism of Environmental Education in implementing an EEP in licensing.

Abstract: The educational experience involves not only mandatory activities required to complete a given course, as well as non-compulsory activities, which, provided by the institution, broaden the academic experience. Among these opportunities which are not mandatory, there is in Brazil, the so-called Programa de Educação Tutorial - PET (Tutorial Education Program), linked to the SESu (Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education - MEC) and focus of this investigation. Created in 1979, PET is made up of groups of graduate students, accompanied by a tutor, which develop projects that address the triad of research, teaching and extension inextricably. This research aims to identify and analyze the reasons for the student's decision to join PET, as well as the positive and negative changes perceived by the students due to their participation in the PET, referring to the academic, professional, interpersonal and personal dimensions. For this, a qualitative research of the descriptive type has been developed, with data collection via web, with 30 graduating students, participants of PET in the Brazilian institution of higher education which has the largest number of groups. The data were processed through content analysis, allowing the observation that 76.6% of participants chose PET as the first option among other activities offered by Institution of Higher Education. The reasons for choosing the program were grouped into nine categories: Opportunity for personal and interpersonal development; Expansion of academic and professional education; Activities developed by the group; Extension; Financial support; Integration of teaching, research and extension; Characteristics of the group; Personal interest or motivated by others, and Integration to higher education. Also, by analyzing the changes noted by the students, it was revealed that students intensified their strengths in relation to negative points, but some aspects treated as positive were also considered as being negative. The changes reported were organized according to Academic, Professional, Personal and Interpersonal domains, and for the positive changes seven, five, two and four categories, respectively, were created. For the negative ones, two, one, four and one categories were created in the same domains, respectively. Among the positive changes, the only category that appeared in the four areas was the development of Abilities, skills and competences; the category Knowledge Acquisition was found in three domains while the Composition of networking professionals was found in two of them. Among the negative changes there was no repetition of categories. Thus, analyzing the need to understand students during their higher education experiences and process changes, this study enabled the perception of the importance of PET in this development process, besides the contribution to the qualitative analysis of the program itself.

Abstract: This qualitative and quantitative research took place in 2010 and involved 46 volunteer teachers, from Humanities area of study and students from eighth and ninth grades of elementary education in two local public schools of Itatiba, San Paulo. Special Education Experiences for Parents of Children with Autism Spectrum DisorderBarron, Will 05 1900 (has links)
Millions of students with disabilities in the United States have access to educational programming to assist and provide special education support services. In existence for mere decades, special education as it currently stands was founded on groundbreaking legislation and refining law in the form of the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The most recent revision of this law in 2004 significantly extended parents' rights to be decision-makers in the educational planning process for children with disabilities. A litany of research into parent experiences of the IEP and special education process reveals that parents consistently report feelings of being marginalized in the decision-making process. A systematic literature review conducted by the author revealed that parents and family members of children with ASD report broadly similar themes of dissatisfaction with the special education process and communicating with staff. The current research proposal seeks to investigate the interaction experiences with Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) personnel of parents and family members of elementary-aged children with ASD. LSSPs, recognized as possessing expertise on autism spectrum disorder amongst special education evaluation personnel, often conduct evaluations for students with ASD.

An Evaluataion of the Effectiveness of the Teacher Education Program at Utah State University for Elementary School TeachersAlldredge, Diana 01 May 1977 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the teacher education program in the Department of Elementary Education at Utah State University. The program has been in effect for only a few years and the department desired that an evaluation b e conducted to determine its present strengths and weaknesses.
The procedure used to collect data for this study involved several instruments. Letters were sent to 150 universities in the United States to determine what they had done to evaluate their teacher education programs. Questionnaires were sent to 399 graduates from 1974, 1975, and 1976 to ask their opinions of the program. Questionnaires were also sent to 101 principals of these graduates asking them to evaluate the graduates as products of the program. Visits were made to a random sample of 20 graduates and principals. Recommendations for the program were requested of the graduates and principals on the questionnaires and during visits.
The results of this study showed strengths in the program in the subject areas of language arts, math, and social studies. Weaknesses were found in the areas of art, music, physical education, reading, and science.
In the teaching competencies major strengths were found in the areas of positive personality traits, capturing interest and attention, encouraging creative activity, collecting and using media and materials, and gaining trust and building student self-concept. Major weaknesses were found in the areas of helping students of varied ethnic backgrounds, correlating curriculum with that in the grades preceeding and following, making interest centers and learning stations, caring for health, safety, and muscle coordination, helping students to use inductive and deductive thinking, and helping students develop visual and auditory perception.
It was also found that the principals feel differently about graduates' performance than the graduates do. The principals rated the majority of the graduates slightly above average compared to other beginning teachers, while the graduates rated themselves above or below their principals' ratings. The correlations of individual pairs of graduates and principals were, therefore, very low.
The overall ratings of graduates and principals, obtained through the questionnaires and interviews, were similar. The college supervisors and cooperating teachers also showed agreement. However, the graduates and principals did not agree with the college supervisors and cooperating teachers in their ratings.
