Subjetividade, identidade e geografia: o nascimento da Barra da Tijuca e o cronos fusional (ou a \'morte\' da alteridade) / Subjectivity, Identity e geography: the arise of Barra da Tijuca and fusional cronus (or the end of alterity)

Santos Junior, Washington Ramos dos 15 April 2016 (has links)
Metodologicamente, utilizamos revisão bibliográfica e entrevistas para a realização dessa tese / This thesis aims to analyse Barra da Tijucas process of constitution, which is a neighbourhood in the city of Rio de Janeiro. It was named after a landform and were recognised as it for centuries, arising as a territorial limit only in the 1970s. Its development strengthened along the 1950s as an extension of Rio de Janeiros South Zone. Lucio Costa, the same urbanist that projected Brasilia, was invited by the government to rationalise its occupation and does not mention the expression town house complex at all on the Plan Lucio Costa, although this is the form that became the model of neighbourhoods occupation. Town house complex is associated to consumption and idealisation, which is shown as much dwellers speech as the stereotype created to them, the nouveau-riche. Part of prejudice is related to the hollowness of existent cultural facilities, which was planned to be fulfilled by Cidade das Artes. This project is in accord to cities marketing and competition and strategic planning that has started in Rio de Janeiro with the former mayor Cesar Maia. We named the subjectivity experienced in town house complexes as the end of alterity because of the regressivity of Ego ideal that corresponds to mimesis and the narcissism of minor differences. We interpret the Greek myths of Cronus and Odysseus relating them, respectively, to regressive Ego ideal and maturational Ego ideal. On the Tower of Babel myth, we bring to discussion the paramount essence of cities and the urban, videlicet, individualisation. Our methodology consists in literature survey revision and a few interviews

Evaluation of influence of transport infrastructure on land use change and coverage through dynamic spatial modeling.

Ramos, Henrique Alessandro de Almeida 29 September 2017 (has links)
The dynamics of landscapes and the consequent changes in land use and land cover can be analyzed according to spatial models, which helps the interpretation of the variables responsible for territorial changes, as well as enables the creation of distinct scenarios in order to know the impact produced by the insertion or suppression of variables in the simulation of landscape changes. In the municipal area of Guarulhos, the installation of large highways linking the municipality of São Paulo to the Paraíba Valley and an airport terminal afterwards, in accordance with different periods of economic growth and urban expansion, had a strong impact on the landscape found in this municipality, mostly because of the installation of large industrial yards and residential neighborhoods of medium and low income. Hence, this research aimed to evaluate the changes in land use and land cover according to remote sensing products, and it also aimed to try to identify the influence of the installation of big connection points of the municipality through modeling with cellular automata (CA). Among the main results obtained are the positive influence on the transitions to the regular residential class exercised by the airport installation in the first period of analysis (1986 to 1993), and the repellency of this transition in the following years. A similar result was obtained in the evaluation of the influence of the great access roads in the implantation of industrial parks and logistic sheds. Thus, the dynamic modeling through the Dynamica-EGO software proved to be a very versatile tool to evaluate the influence of spatial variables on the dynamics of urban landscapes.

A paranoia para além da psicose : a manifestação paranoica na ausência de psicose / Paranoia beyond psychosis: the paranoid manifestation in the absence of psychosis

No. of bitstreams: 1 ViniciosBraga.pdf: 576032 bytes, checksum: 7f9a13e195f5e162977f6c1afb1bfde5 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016-07-27 / Every day we witness scenes of violence, intolerance and conflicts in different ways and intensities, whether on television, in the neighborhood or even inside our homes. Contemporary authors of Psychoanalysis has written about paranoid frames that can manifest even when there is no psychosis. Such frames are related to aggression that we see expressed in various ways. So, our main objective of this work show how you can be a paranoid framework in the absence of psychosis. To do so, we open the job discussing the notion of unconscious structured as a language, situating the field in which we are working and that the subject treated in the course of our exposition. Then, we used a presentation Verwerfung phenomenon to show that, although it is a mechanism usually linked to psychotic structure, is the base of own symbolic order of any speaker. We also demonstrated how the creation of an Ego is properly paranoid to have a rivalitary base that brings into play an aggressiveness (not always) latent, so that we could learn how it leaves marks that can lead a man to present typically paranoid traits, even if can not find a psychosis. This aggression is inherent in the human psyche and constitutes the extent that our Ego - imaginary function - is founded on such a basis where we first know ourselves into the other. Finally, we discuss about what is the paranoia and how manifest paranoid phenomena in order to contribute to a hearing in the clinic in addition to the closure of paranoid runs only in the field of psychosis. We were able to confirm that imaginary phenomena can not be taken alone as a criterion for the structure, and, therefore, we find situations in which paranoid manifestations occur even in the absence of psychosis. As a working method, we conducted literature search, which resorted to reading and rereading of Freud and Lacan, as well as authors who deal with the issue pertaining to the transmission line of these. With this, we aim to raise the concepts in question by promoting a dialogue between them to develop the question presented. The accuracy of the method in psychoanalysis is not in the accumulation of data, but to submit to the laws of language, in order not to us bogged in definitions closed in advance and be able to pay attention to the development of ideas as presented by the authors, as well as the progress the subject who writes.

Neuroticism and Ego Depletion Patterns

Dreves, Parker A 01 May 2017 (has links)
Self-control has been defined as the ability to override or alter an automatic response. Past research has suggested that those who are higher in the personality trait neuroticism display poorer self-control. Based on theory suggesting that self-control is a limited resource, the present study attempts to explain the relationship between neuroticism and self-control. Understanding that neuroticism is characterized by emotional instability, it follows that individuals high in neuroticism must exert more self-control in managing their negative moods, thus leaving them depleted for future acts of self-control. Participants (n = 84) completed measures of trait self-control, engaged in an emotional regulation task, and then completed measures of state self-control, affect, and rumination. Results revealed no significant effect of emotional regulation on state self-control, nor a significant effect of neuroticism on state self-control. The implications of these findings are discussed.

La pulsion d'emprise entre Eros et Thanatos / Experiencing cancer psychoanalytical approach of psychic issues : the instinct to master in relation to Eros and Thanatos

Roquand, Marie-Armelle 27 September 2017 (has links)
This research, based on the experience of cancer disease, in adult patients with solid tumors at deadly risk and potential trauma, studies the relevance of the concept of right of way in its drive joint Eros and Thanatos. It aims to inform clinical observation: the discrepancy between the satisfactory evolution of the disease and the subjective feeling pejorative patient and analyze the psychological issues, according to the theoretical and clinical speech (historical, medical, philosophical, psycho-oncology, psychoanalytic). The first part stresses the medical evolution, this social achievement, marked by deadly performances, contrasting with the current scientific. The concept of temporality is studied, those of the cancer disease and its treatment in relation to that of the subject. The second part addresses the influence of the field in the psychoanalytic discourse. Clinical and theoretical study of clinical situations shows the strength of the grip and drive its contrasting values in the psychological work of the patient, marked by the predominance of the representation of death. The third part describes the metapsychological conflict between the psychic instances, the body and cancer. The analysis of the drive and especially the anarchist impulse questioned the link between the drive and grip the life instinct not to mention tying the latter to the death drive. The relationship between bodily and the pliable medium is questioned. The assumption of the value of the grip is studied as a necessary development, temporary before acceptance by me of losses induced by cancer.

The importance of the concept of the castration in the formation and the resolution of the symptom and in the notion of cure in psychoanalysis, in the study of Pierre Fedida’s work

Mortimore, Julie 05 December 2017 (has links)
Is there exist one beyond castration ? This aporia where Freud left us as an insuperable point is the starting point of my thesis. This one will consist in studying the concept of castration an its inextricable link with the OEdipus complex, through the writings of Sigmund Freud, Jacques Lacan and Pierre Fedida. In support of the psychoanaytical private clinic of today, it will be a question of showing how the psychoanalytical cure, and the position of the psychoanalyst, aim at introducing castration. Castration, at the core of psychoanalytic theory, is the pivot of psychic life and is implied in the formation of the symptoms but also in their resolution. This work tries to articulate works of three major authors of the psychoanalysis, Freud, Lacan and Fedida, not to oppose them or confuse them but to put in perspective their field of experience, according to their reference and their style, of which will notably arise the concepts of spaltung (division and splitting) and of absence.

Where There's a Will, There's a Way: Implementing Motivational Strategies to Combat Decision Fatigue

Huang, David 01 January 2019 (has links)
Recent research suggests we have a limited supply of willpower, termed the “ego”, which becomes depleted by undergoing cognitively demanding tasks. Any acts of volition, including decision-making, self-control, and taking responsibility, reduce this supply of “ego” (Baumeister, 1998), which impedes our ability to further perform these tasks. Decision fatigue, a specific form of ego depletion, is prevalent everywhere from judicial court cases (Danzinger, Levav, & Avnaim-Pesso, 2010) to our daily lives. There is now significant mainstream media exposure and literature on decision fatigue and the activities to which it applies. However, it remains contested how to best handle its negative consequences. The purpose of this paper is to examine methods of addressing the adverse effects of ego depletion, particularly related to motivation.

Self and Ideal-Self Concepts in a Prison Population: (1) Self and Ideal-Self Patterns of Violent and Non-Violent Offenders, (2) Self and Ideal-Self Concepts in Relation to Time Served Within a Prison

Berman, Alison Prince, Kushmuk, James W. 01 January 1975 (has links)
Two interrelated studies explored the self and ideal-self patterns, two important components of the total personality, of a male prison population using the Interpersonal Adjective Checklist (ICL). Both studies used the same prison subjects (n=38), who were divided equally between violent and non-violent offenders. Study I also used a normative sample (n=38) of male students. All subjects filled out two ICL forms, one with self and one with ideal-self instructions. Study I investigated the ICL patterns of the prisoners in terms of type of crime (violent vs. non-violent) and also compared the ICL scores of the prisoners (violent and non-violent) to the student group. Study II investigated the relationship between length of imprisonment and the ICL self and ideal-self patterns of the prisoners. Correlations between length of time already served and each of the thirteen ICL scores were performed for both self and ideal instruction sets (with the effects of type of crime factored out).

Identity status development in the South African context : Relations with defenses, narcissism, parental attachment and ego strengths

Mashegoane, Solomon January 2012 (has links)
Thesis (Ph.D. (Psychology)) -- University of Limpopo, 2012 / The identity status paradigm (ISP) is probably the most common theoretical model used to study identity development. It originates from Erikson’s (1950/1977) psychosocial theory, which, in turn, is historically rooted in the psychoanalytic perspective. The ISP postulates predictable relationships between each of the identity status categories and various intrapersonal and contextual variables. The applicability of the ISP in the South African context is tested in this study. A student sample was drawn from a predominantly African university, and was assessed for identity development over a period of three consecutive years (Ns = 394, 96 & 60, for years one, two and three, in that order). Participants were initially classified into the four identity status categories of Achievement, Moratorium, Foreclosure and Diffusion. The impact of gender and age on identity status development was investigated. The association between defenses and the identity statuses was also determined. Thereafter, identity statuses, in conjunction with defenses, narcissism, and parental attachment, were related to the ego strengths of Fidelity and Love. The results suggest that generally there is no relationship between the sets of variables in this particular sample. The results are discussed in relation to existing literature, and the issue of the appropriateness of the theory and/or the measures in the present sample is raised. Key terms: defense, ego strength, identity status, narcissism, parental attachment / the Norwegian Programme for Development, Research and Education (NUFU),
