Combinação de modelos de previsão de séries temporais por meio de otimização multiobjetivo para alocação eficiente de recursos na nuvem / Combination of time series forecasting models through multi-objective optimization for efficient allocation of resources in the cloud

Valter Rogério Messias 16 May 2016 (has links)
In a cloud computing environment, companies have the ability to allocate resources according to demand. However, there is a delay that may take minutes between the request for a new resource and it is ready for using. The reactive techniques, which request a new resource only when the system reaches a certain load threshold, are not suitable for the resource allocation process. To address this problem, it is necessary to predict requests that arrive at the system in the next period of time to allocate the necessary resources, before the system becomes overloaded. There are several time-series forecasting models to calculate the workload predictions based on history of monitoring data. However, it is difficult to know which is the best time series forecasting model to be used in each case. The work becomes even more complicated when the user does not have much historical data to be analyzed. Most related work considers only single methods to evaluate the results of the forecast. Other work propose an approach that selects suitable forecasting methods for a given context. But in this case, it is necessary to have a significant amount of data to train the classifier. Moreover, the best solution may not be a specific model, but rather a combination of models. In this work we propose an adaptive prediction method using multi-objective optimization techniques to combine time-series forecasting models. Our method does not require a previous phase of training, because it constantly adapts the extent to which the data is coming. To evaluate our proposal we use four logs extracted from real servers. The results show that our proposal often brings the best result, and is generic enough to adapt to various types of time series.

Modelo para determinação da perda de carga contínua em tubos elásticos / Model for determining the continuous head losses in elastic pipe

Osvaldo Rettore Neto 05 August 2011 (has links)
Total head losses are accounted in the irrigation hydraulic projects, that would be the continuous losses and the local head losses, aiming to maximize the uniformity of water distribution, characterizing an adequate pump set to the irrigation system e thus, minimizing the project implantation and annual costs. With informatics support, complex calculation problems are solved with ease, therefore it is possible to apply more complex models for head loss calculation in the irrigation system, resulting in values closer to the reality, with greater details. The head loss represents the water energy dissipation as heat, along the piping, due to the resistance to the flow offered by the fluid viscosity and by the particles inertia. It is variable according to the size of the rugosities of the pipe wall, piping diameter and the water velocity. plastic industry and its derivates, with engineering support, have improved the quality of the materials for the pipe manufacturing, mainly polyethylene. The usage of plastic material pipes for irrigation, of lowest cost, has risen in the latest years. The flexibility of these pipes leads to the internal diameter increase with pressure increase, fact already observed in research and that are not taken into account by mathematics equating used to determine the head loss. This paper proposes a model where it takes into account the elastic module (E) of the pipe to determine the diameter alteration in elastic pipes due to the pressure, affecting the determination of continuous head loss. Elastic Module proposed associated to Universal Equation, showed average performance rate of 0,9% being considered a extremely good estimative of reality.

Andrea Mariana Nunes da Costa Teixeira 27 September 2013 (has links)
Provavelmente o tempo de suplementação, a biodisponibilidade das substâncias bioativas e o metabolismo alterado desses indivíduos interferiram nos resultados obtidos, sugerindo a necessidade de melhor investigação desses fatores / Introduction There has been an increase on cardiovascular diseases occurrence in the HIV/aids population. Some studies involving animals and healthy individuals or individuals with other pathologies have shown benefits on endothelial function and vasodilation under use of chocolate and yerba maté. Objective To evaluate the effect of chocolate and yerba maté intake on HIV/aids patient´s arterial elasticity. Methods Double-blind crossover trial including 89 HIV/aids patients, 19 to 59 years of age, on antiretroviral therapy for at least six months, and with viral load <500copies/ml. The individuals consumed daily approximately 65g of dark chocolate, 3g of yerba maté or placebo during 15 days, followed by a 15-day washout period after each intervention. Arterial elasticity was measured using the HDI/PulseWaveTM CR-2000 CardioVascular Profiling System®, which provides a pulse wave contour analysis. Body composition, glicemic index, lipid profile, C-reactive protein and thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) were also assessed. The crossover analysis was performed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) on Stata®. The paired Students t-test was also applied. A p value <0.05 was considered significant. Results Most of the individuals were men (62.9 per cent), caucasian (46.1 per cent) aging 44.6 ± 7.1 years. The mean time of HIV/aids diagnosis was 13.2 ± 4.8 years, with 10.6 ± 5.1 years of antiretroviral therapy. There were no significant alterations on elasticity of either large or small arteries after chocolate and yerba maté intake. Conclusion This is the first research to evaluate the effect of chocolate and yerba maté intake on HIV/aids patient´s arterial elasticity. Despite of the positive evidence of these foods on cardiovascular health of animals and populations with other pathologies, the same effects were not observed in this study. Most probably the time of intervention, the bioavailability of the bioactive substances and the altered metabolism of this individuals interfered on the results, which indicates the need for further investigation

Relação entre elasticidade arterial e outros marcadores de risco cardiovascular em indivíduos com HIV/aids em terapia antirretroviral / Relationship between arterial elasticity and other markers of cardiovascular risk in individuals with HIV/AIDS on antiretroviral therapy.

Patricia de Moraes Pontilho 30 November 2012 (has links)
There is a growing interest in identifying markers of risk for cardiovascular events in patients with HIV / AIDS. Currently there is a change in the epidemiological profile of patients with reduced mortality from infections and comorbidities and increased cardiovascular events. The arterial elasticity, mainly of small vessels, has been investigated as early alteration of cardiovascular events. Objective: To evaluate the relationship between arterial elasticity and other cardiovascular risk factors such as demographic and socioeconomic factors, lifestyle habits, nutritional status and inflammatory markers. Methods: We randomly selected 132 individuals volunteers, ages between 19 and 59, of both sexes, regularly treated with antiretrovirals in specialized clinics on HIV / AIDS. Arterial elasticity of the large (LAEI) and small (SAEI) vessels were investigated by the equipment HDI/ PulseWaveTM CR-2000 Cardio Vascular Profiling System®. We determined total cholesterol, HDL, triglycerides, C-reactive protein, fibrinogen, and anthropometric assessment of body composition, smoking, alcohol consumption, drug use, physical activity, and evaluation of demographic, socio-economic and immunological (viral load, T-CD4, T-CD8) factors. The association between LAEI and SAEI and other cardiovascular risk factors were assessed by multiple linear regression. Results: Regarding the elasticity of large and small vessels, 71.97 per cent and 32.58 per cent , respectively, of the participants were classified as having normal elasticity. We observed a positive association between LAEI and weight (p <0.001) and negative associations between LAEI and subscapular skinfold (p <0.001) and CD4 counts (p <0.02). There was a negative association of LAEI with gender (p <0.02), showing that female gender is associated with lower elasticity. There was a positive association between SAEI and weight (p <0.001) and negative associations between SAEI and subscapular skinfold (p <0.001), age (p <0.01) and total lymphocytes (p <0.01). Conclusion: Changes in arterial elasticity in patients with HIV / AIDS correlate with other cardiovascular risk factors. SAEI was altered in most participants, a change that can identify endothelial dysfunction before the disease becomes clinically apparent. The constant monitoring of arterial elasticity through noninvasive method may become an important tool in the prediction and prevention of cardiovascular events in HIV / aids patients

Otimização da cobrança pelo uso da água para a gestão da demanda hídrica em cenários de longo prazo / Water pricing optimization for demand management in long-term scenarios

Fernando Simão e Silva 06 November 2009 (has links)
Water pricing is a water resources management tool according to brazilian law 9433/97 and it serves the purpose of giving incentive to rational use of water, among others. However, studies and simulations treat pricing as a revenue generator mechanism only. This dissertation aims to propose water unit prices based on demand reduction needs in the Tietê-Jacaré basin, Brazil. In order to do it, it uses demand and supply scenarios for 2010, 2025 and 2050 developed by Macêdo (2005), whose estimates are also slightly improved here. Econometric models are used to model the relationship between pricing and demand and they are adapted from other basins, mainly the Paraíba do Sul one. All this serves as base for an optimization algorithm, which is used to propose changes in water pricing policy, leading to the attainment of water stress reduction goals in the future.

Some Remarks on the Constant in the Strengthened C.B.S. Inequality: Application to $h$- and $p$-Hierarchical Finite Element Discretizations of Elasticity Problems

Jung, M., Maitre, J. F. 30 October 1998 (has links) (PDF)
For a class of two-dimensional boundary value problems including diffusion and elasticity problems it is proved that the constants in the corresponding strengthened Cauchy-Buniakowski-Schwarz (C.B.S.) inequality in the cases of h -hierarchical and p -hierarchical finite element discretizations with triangular meshes differ by the factor 0.75. For plane linear elasticity problems and triangulations with right isosceles tri- angles formulas are presented that show the dependence of the constant in the C.B.S. inequality on the Poisson's ratio. Furthermore, numerically determined bounds of the constant in the C.B.S. inequality are given for three-dimensional elasticity problems discretized by means of tetrahedral elements. Finally, the robustness of iterative solvers for elasticity problems is discussed briefly.

Analyse expérimentale et simulation numérique de l’interaction fluide-structure d’un hydrofoil élastique en écoulement subcavitant et cavitant / Numerical and experimental analisys of the fluid-structure interaction between an elastic hydrofoil and a subcavitating And cavitating flow

Gaugain, Fabien 11 December 2013 (has links)
The design of flexible lifting bodies in the naval industry, such as propelleror rudders, create some new design problems. This thesis proposes a numerical method validated by experimental comparison for solving the case of lifting bodies loaded by flow with or whitout cavitation. The tests are carried out in the hydrodynamic tunnel of the French Naval Academy Research Institute, on a polyacetate flexible hydrofoil NACA66-312 (mod.). During tests, strains and vibrations are measured for comparisons with numerical results. The numerical method uses a sequential synchrone iterative partitionned coupling betweena structural finite-element code (ANSYS Mechanical) and a finite-volume code (ANSYS CFX). Good agreement between numerical and experimental results for displacements, and stresses of the structure is highlighted. For the cavitating flow, a good agreement for the cavitation dynamic is observed and the stresses are evaluated with satisfying accuracy.

Modélisation du maclage à l’échelle atomique dans les métaux hexagonaux : germination et migration de disconnections dans le zirconium, le titane et le magnésium / Atomic scale modeling of twinning in zirconium and titanium

MacKain, Olivier 18 July 2017 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to identify and quantify the parameters of importance when dealing with twin thickening in three hcp metals (Zr, Ti, Mg). The mechanism we study is the glide of twinning dislocations, i. e. the disconnection, along the perfect twin boundaries. We first focus on the nucleation of disconnection before addressing their migration. A study using an EAM potential allows us to validate an original coupling between our atomistic simulations and linear elasticity in order to extract the core energy of disconnection. We then show how this coupling permits to divide the formation energy in two terms: the core contribution, intrinsec to the disconnections, and an elastic one, which depends on the disconnection's environment. Thanks to this partition, we model the formation of isolated disconnection that may appear along the different twin planes. We select the dipoles of lowest formation energies in order to perform ab initio calculations and compare the behavior observed the three different metals. We then model the migration of disconnections along the perfect twin planes. To do so, we use the Nudged Elastic Band method, and find out that the migration energy of disconnections is one order of magnitude lower than their formation energies. We therefor conclude that the disconnection nucleation is the rate limiting factor to explain twin thickening thanks to the creation and motion of disconnection

Méthode d'optimisation et d'aide à la décision en conception mécanique : application à une structure aéronautique / Optimization and decision support methodology in mechanical design : application to a structure in aeronautics

Collignan, Arnaud 30 November 2011 (has links)
In product design, the design phase called "embodiment design" results to define solutions describing main product characteristics, such as dimensions or standard components. Among numerous candidate solutions, it is necessary to select and to rigorously justify the selection. This choice must often take into account preexisting reference solutions, coming from previous projects or preliminary studies. In this context, our works propose a decision support method aiming to select a design solution; it is called OIA method (Observation-Interpretation-Aggregation). This approach uses two types of model, the first one concerns the objective behavior of the product (Observation), the second one concerns the designer's subjective preferences (Interpretation). In these preference several indicators are introduced: expected product behaviors, designer's satisfactions and usual compromises realized through design activity. These compromises are achieved through design strategies and weighting approaches (Aggregation). The OIA method is first used to qualify design solutions though the performance indicator. This method is then used to qualify design solutions related to the reference one, through the confidence indicator. The arc-elasticity is finally introduced as a compromise indicator between performance and confidence.Several stochastic optimization algorithms are compared to compute optimal solutions. Theses algorithms are investigated and compared using three criteria, and a multicriteria selection method is proposed to identify the most suitable one. This work is applied to the dimensioning of a riveted junction in an industrial context.

Etude expérimentale de la perméabilité du béton sous conditions thermiques et hydriques variables / Experimental study of the permeability of concrete under variable thermal and hydric conditions

Chen, Wei 09 December 2011 (has links)
Many experimental tests (saturation and permeability measurements, uniaxial and triaxial compressions tests) were carried out in order to investigate the temperature and saturation influence on the behaviour hydraulic on sound and micro-cracked concrete. Moreover, an experimental device for permeability measurement on macro-cracked concrete was realized, it allows to study the behaviour of macro-cracked of concrete confined and subjected to dry gas flow or very moist air at different temperatures. Multiaxial mechanical tests are coupled to the permeability measurements of sound concrete and micro-cracked by freezing and thawing, which allow to measuring the permeability under deviatoric load-unload with the effect of pre-cracking under stress. We also effectuated a test of relative permeability of concrete as a function of water saturation, subjected to drying and resaturation, conditioning by the different relative humidity imposed
