Previous issue date: 2014-03-10 / Este trabalho vem analisar processos de subjetivação de sujeitos homossexuais que se assumem como ursos. Trazemos o debate de corpos para explicitarmos seus agenciamentos, tanto na produção imagética do que socialmente seriam aqueles sujeitos, dos locais de onde falam, dos grupos que apresentam afinidades, quanto nos
processos em que constroem a si mesmos. Os processos de subjetivação não pressupõem um sujeito autônomo, pois sofrem interferências de organizações de forças e saberes que operam na sociedade (FOUCAULT, 2003). Diante disso, recorremos à analíticas de poder propostas por Michel Foucault (1995), Judith Butler (2010) e Laclau e Mouffe (1987), tanto para nos afastarmos de noções de corpos passivos, universais e objetivos, recorrentes em enfoques em hegemonia na Administração, quanto para analisarmos sua construção somente em relação à
construção de um sujeito, ou seja, em processos sociais, históricos e políticos de embodiments. Foi realizada uma pesquisa qualitativa, cujos dados foram coletados por meio de entrevistas individuais semiestruturadas com 19 participantes capixabas. Os dados foram analisados sob a ótica pós-estruturalista do discurso tendo em vista as abordagens laclauniana e foucaultiana. O trabalho conclui que
o discurso ursino sobredetermina práticas dispersas no campo de
homoafetividades ao articular um esquema corpóreo masculino. Este esquema se assume como uma das práticas hegemônicas LGBT e, consequentemente, é o primeiro a ser acionado nas subjetivações dos participantes. Porém, este processo não se concretiza de forma plena, nem elimina particularidades e contingências que parodiam as demandas comportamentais emergentes das construções identitárias.

Group reaching over digital tabletops with digital arm embodiments2014 August 1900 (has links)
In almost all collaborative tabletop tasks, groups require coordinated access to the shared objects on the table’s surface. The physical social norms of close-proximity interactions built up over years of interacting around other physical bodies cause people to avoid interfering with other people (e.g., avoiding grabbing the same object simultaneously). However, some digital tabletop situations require the use of indirect input (e.g., when using mice, and when supporting remote users). With indirect input, people are no longer physically embodied during their reaching gestures, so most systems provide digital embodiments – visual representations of each person – to provide feedback to both the person who is reaching and to the other group members. Tabletop arm embodiments have been shown to better support group interactions than simple visual designs, providing awareness of actions to the group. However, researchers and digital tabletop designers know little of how the design of digital arm embodiments affects the fundamental group tabletop interaction of reaching for objects. Therefore, in this thesis, we evaluate how people coordinate their interactions over digital tabletops when using different types of embodiments. Specifically, in a series of studies, we investigate how the visual design (what they look like) and interaction design (how they work) of digital arm embodiments affects a group’s coordinative behaviours in an open- ended parallel tabletop task. We evaluated visual factors of size, transparency, and realism (through pictures and videos of physical arms), as well as interaction factors of input and augmentations (feedback of interactions), in both a co-located and distributed environment. We found that the visual design had little effect on a group’s ability to coordinate access to shared tabletop items, that embodiment augmentations are useful to support group coordinative actions, and that there are large differences when the person is not physically co-present. Our results demonstrate an initial exploration into the design of digital arm embodiments, providing design guidelines for future researchers and designers to use when designing the next generation of shared digital spaces.

These processes do not presuppose an autonomous subject because organized knowledges and forces operating in our society interfere on them (FOUCAULT, 2003). Therefore, we consider analytics of power proposed by Michel Foucault (1995), Judith Butler (2010) and Laclau and Mouffe (1987) to criticize the passive, universal and objective notions of bodies on hegemonic approaches in the field of Administrations Studies and to analyze the objectivations of bodies only in relation to the construction of subjetics through social, historical and political processes of embodiments. This work is based on a qualitative research and the data were collected through semi-structured individual interviews with 19
participants that live in the brazilian state of Espírito Santo. The data were analyzed considering the poststructuralist perspective of discourse studies given the Laclaudian and Foucauldian approaches. The research concludes that the bear discourse overdetermines dispersed practices in a field of homosexualities by constructing a "masculine" body scheme. This scheme becomes one of the hegemonic LGBT practices and therefore is the first to be enacted on subjectification processes by the participants. However, these processes are not fully realized, neither eliminates particularities and contingencies that parody the behavioral demands of identities builds.

Global multiregional input-output databases (GMRIOs) became the standard tool for track
ing environmental impacts through global supply chains. To date, several GMRIOs are
available, but the numerical results differ. This paper considers how GMRIOs can be made
more robust and authoritative. We show that GMRIOs need detail in environmentally
relevant sectors. On the basis of a review of earlier work, we conclude that the highest
uncertainty in footprint analyses is caused by the environmental data used in a GMRIO,
followed by the size of country measured in gross domestic product (GDP) as fraction of
the global total, the structure of the national table, and only at the end the structure of
trade. We suggest the following to enhance robustness of results. In the short term, we
recommend using the Single country National Accounts Consistent footprint approach,
that uses official data for extensions and the national table for the country in question,
combined with embodiments in imports calculated using a GMRIO. In a time period of
2 to 3 years, we propose work on harmonized environmental data for water, carbon,
materials, and land, and use the aggregated Organization for Economic Cooperation and
Development (OECD) Inter-Country Input-Output GMRIO as default in combination with
detailing procedures developed in, for example, the EXIOBASE and Eora projects. In the
long term, solutions should be coordinated by the international organizations such as the
United Nations (UN) Statistical Division, OECD, and Eurostat. This could ensure that when
input-output tables and trade data of individual countries are combined, that the global
totals are consistent and that bilateral trade asymmetries are resolved.

Recent Progress in Assessment of Resource Efficiency and Environmental Impacts Embodied in Trade: An Introduction to this Special IssueTukker, Arnold, Giljum, Stefan, Wood, Richard January 2018 (has links) (PDF)
This paper serves as an introduction to this special issue on the use of multiregional input-
output modeling in assessments of natural resource use and resource use efficiency. Due to
globalization, growth in trade has outpaced growth in global gross domestic product (GDP).
As a consequence, impacts of consumption of a country increasingly take place abroad.
Various methods have been developed to perform so-called footprint analyses. We argue
that global multiregional input-output (GMRIO) analysis has the largest potential to provide
a consistent accounting framework to calculate a variety of different footprint indicators.
The state of the art in GMRIO has, however, various shortcomings, such as limited sector
and regional detail and incomplete extensions. The work presented in this special issue
addresses a number of such problems and how to possibly overcome them, focusing on
the construction of a new GMRIO database (EXIOBASE V3). This database includes long
time series in both current and constant prices, a high level of product and sector detail, a
physical representation of the world economy, and allows analyzing which footprints out of
the many possible indicators provide most information for policy making. Various options
for empirical analyses are presented in this special issue. Finally, we analyze how GMRIOs
can be further standardized and gradually moved from the scientific to the official statistical
domain.

Coming to Voice Through Capoeira : Uncovering Ancestrality and Embodiments of the African Diaspora / A Voz que Vem Através da Capoeira : Descobrindo Ancestralidade e Incorporaçãos da Diáspora AfricanaDa Conceição Paz, Ana January 2023 (has links)
Capoeira is an African diasporic art form that developed in Brazil during the transatlantic slave trade. This research explores the history of Capoeira and its contemporary engagement through an autoethnographic method. It follows the first-hand experience of being a black female researcher and a Capoeirista both in Europe and Brazil. The purpose of engaging with this particular perspective was to recentre the ways in which we view Capoeira and its history, understanding that it has many embodiments of resistance that also include Black women. Embodiments here are framed as the embedded identities and corporeality affected by culture and society over several generations. Through this process, we open our awareness of further embodiments of the individual, together with that of the practice. Inspired by bell hooks' essay ‘Choosing the Margin as a Space of Radical Openness’, this thesis is a conversation between the past, the present and the future, it interrogates the popular structures in Capoeira that have been upheld or embodied and as a result has separated us from ancestral knowledge and knowledge of self. The ritual of Capoeira is mirrored throughout this thesis in order to engage with the intrinsic values of the practice and bring about transformative ways of seeing and moving in the world around us.

Crises Transformed: The Motivations Behind Engagement in AnarchyStapp, April Marie 06 June 2017 (has links)
What motivates individuals to take part in anarchistic movements and spaces? For those who do, what occurs during engagement in anarchy? By collecting the oral histories of anarchistic activists, this study indicates how crises, personal and collective, is a not only a motivating factor for why individuals join and engage in anarchistic movements and spaces, but how crises are, in turn, radically transformed through engagement in anarchical practice. To understand this process, this study explores crises through the development of an eco-anarchistic dialectical framework--negate-subvert-create--to indicate how the crises of capital are embodied, consciously negated, subverted politically, and ultimately transformed through engagement in anarchy. Anarchy is accordingly conceptualized as a liminal spatio-temporality that allows individuals to reconnect their selves to their potentials to become something beyond the ecological destructive and dominant social world. These potential are realized through the embodiment of communitas, or collective liminality--a natural communality that individuals reconnect to engaging in anarchy. I end with an exploration of the possible outcomes and potential futures of anarchy by situating the current political, economic, social and ecological crises occurring around the globe within the eco-anarchistic framework developed in this study. Here, I indicate the importance of engaging in care practices and creating care-networks as a necessary outcome and future political practice for anarchistic movements as a way to mitigate and ultimately transform the crises of capital. / Ph.
