Esta dissertação propõe uma leitura crítica do romance Los detectives salvajes, publicado em 1998 pelo chileno Roberto Bolaño. Minha leitura investiga como o romance problematiza a tríade verdade - sentido - experiência através de um jogo com a opacidade que elide a sua linguagem (segundo alguns críticos) transparente. Para tanto, divido o trabalho em três momentos. No primeiro, analiso o cruzamento de vozes que o romance põe em cena, tomando-o como uma forma de dramatização da verdade. A partir do conceito de voz, que pauta essas reflexões, estabeleço também uma ponte para pensar a tensão com a poesia que o livro coloca, em uma abordagem que visa ultrapassar a mera exposição da tematização da vida desmesurada dos poetas. No segundo momento, indago a promessa de sentido que a narrativa faz: para além do uso do mistério e do enigma como motores da leitura, que é impulsionada pela iminência de uma revelação que não se produz, exploro suas consequências como procedimentos específicos de construção do sentido. No terceiro momento, pondero como, apesar de ser um relato associado ao fracasso ideológico de uma geração, Los detectives salvajes parece conservar ou criar um lugar para a esperança e para o acontecimento de experiências verdadeiramente autênticas, sob a forma de sobrevivências ou de intervalos. Tomando, portanto, as ideias de voz, sentido, verdade, centro, experiência, sujeito e enigma como caminhos, vias, o trabalho interroga as lições que o romance de Bolaño lega à literatura por vir. / This dissertation offers a critical reading of the novel Los detectives salvajes, published in 1998 by Chilean author Roberto Bolaño. After having established the book\'s fragmentary structure as a starting ground, my reading proceeds to an analysis of the crossing of voices staged in the novel, taking it into account as a means of dramatization or questioning of the truth. Since this division of utterances is both fundamental and constitutive in Los detectives salvajes, being connected to issues of language and displacement, from it arise important ethical implications. These reflections were based on the concept of voice, from which it was also possible to establish a bridge for thinking of the tensions with poetry enacted by the novel, in an approach that sought to surpass the mere exposition of the thematization of poets\' unruly lives. Aside from this, the research also questions the promise of meaning developed by the narrative: beyond the use of mystery and enigmatic elements as stimuli for reading, that promote the idea of an imminent revelation never to be accomplished, I explore its consequences as specific procedures in the construction of meaning. I also hypothesize on how even though Los detectives selvajes is an account of ideological failure for a generation, it seems to create or maintain a place for hope and for authentic experience in the forms of survivals or intervals. There are specific occurrences in this research in which I establish comparisons with the canonical projects of Jorge Luis Borges and Julio Cortázar, in a sense, to measure the inclusion of Bolaño\'s novel in a Hispano-American history of literature.

This workshop aims to share the success of the Millennium Mathematics Project (MMP) in bringing mathematics to life for students and teachers. A range of interactive enrichment programmes and their innovative ideas and resources will be shared. Two MMP outreach projects will be explained in detail as the main focus of the workshop: (1) The Enigma Project, (2) The Risk Roadshow. Both projects travel to primary and secondary schools as well as universities, organisations, science festivals and residential camps, both nationally and internationally.

O ensino de língua inglesa conta com manuais que prescrevem metodologias para abordar as atividades de compreensão oral. No entanto, no contato com alunos durante a prática docente, percebemos que apesar das prescrições metodológicas muitos aprendizes permanecem com dificuldades na realização seja dos exercícios de compreensão oral do livro didático, seja das provas de proficiência. Assim, o objetivo desta pesquisa é analisar o funcionamento das atividade de compreensão auditiva a partir de uma perspectiva semântico-discursiva (ORLANDI, 1983; CORACINI, 1999; PÊCHEUX, 1990), dos estudos culturais (WOODWARD, 2000) e dos estudos pós-coloniais (ANCHIMBE; ANCHIMBE, 2005) e com apoio de conceitos da psicanálise tais como o Outro/outro, o estranho (unheimlich) e o enigma, que empregamos como metáfora das noções de inconsciente e recalque (FREUD, 1996; LACAN, 1998; KOLTAI, 1998). Desse modo, refletimos acerca do livro didático, do papel do professor de inglês e das representações de compreensão auditiva nos dizeres dos alunos e professores entrevistados. / There is a variety of manuals for the teaching of the English language which prescribe Several methodologies in order to address listening comprehension activities. However, by the contact with students during the teaching practice, we realized that despite the strategies many learners still have difficulties in performing either the listening comprehension exercises from textbooks, or the proficiency tests. Thus, the purpose of this research is to analyze the functioning of listening comprehension activities from a semantic-discursive perspective (ORLANDI, 1983; CORACINI, 1999; PÊCHEUX, 1990), cultural studies (WOODWARD, 2000), postcolonial studies (ANCHIMBE, ANCHIMBE, 2005) and based on psychoanalytical concepts such as other/Other, uncanny (unheimlich) and enigma which we use as a metaphor for the notions of unconscious and repression (FREUD, 1996; LACAN, 1998; KOLTAI, 1998). Therefore, we discuss the textbook, the role of the English teacher and the representations of listening comprehension in the speech of the students and teachers interviewed.

Esta dissertação tem por objetivo estudar como os poemas de Claro Enigma de Carlos Drummond de Andrade se articulam e como tal articulação os modifica e os constitui como livro. Para tanto, analisa-se a nota introdutória da antologia que Drummond compôs com seus próprios poemas, na qual ele expõe e explica seus critérios de organização, usando o adjetivo vertebrado para qualificá-la; em seguida, passa-se à leitura das seis seções do livro, buscando-se identificar as maneiras como elas estão construídas e como isso afeta suas composições; aponta-se, então, o uso de algumas imagens repetidas em diferentes poemas, rearticulando as seções e o conjunto; e, por fim, examina-se as diversas edições do Claro Enigma / This dissertation seeks to study how the poems of Claro Enigma, by Carlos Drummond de Andrade, are integrated and how this integration changes them and makes a book out of them. In order to do so, it is analyzed the introductory note of the anthology that the poet has made of his own compositions, in which he exposes and explains the criteria used by him in this task. In this note he also has characterized this anthology as a vertebrated one. Afterwards, the six sections of Claro Enigma are examined; with the purpose of identify the ways by which they are built and how this affects their poems. After that it is studied the use of some images in more than one poem and how they remodel the sections and the whole. Lastly, there is a study of the different editions of Claro Enigma

As specific objectives we have: To analyze the effect of cryptography in the context of the great world wars; Understand the political significance / power of cryptography in the twentieth century; Analyze the film: "The game of imitation" taking it as a historical source for understanding the logic of cryptography as a mechanism of power; Historize the development of Enigma machine technology and unveil the power elements behind the use of encryption. The problem would be in what way the encryption starts to influence the structures of power and military actions from the discovery of the cipher of the Enigma machine? We have the following hypotheses: Due to the complexity of international relations, from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, communications between allied nations began to be careful not to be discovered by the spies of rivals. From there begins the effort to develop encryption and coding mechanisms that led to the development of encryption machines until the development of the Enigma machine; The second hypothesis would be that the World Wars speeded up the practices of building cipher machines as a way of defending national secrets; The analysis of the film: "The game of imitation" will show us the role of Mathematics and the action of the University in the process of technological creation to unravel "enigmas". / Esta dissertação de Mestrado aborda o impacto no uso da criptografia nas comunicações no período de grandes guerras mundiais. Como objetivos específicos temos: Analisar o efeito da criptografia no contexto das grandes guerras mundiais; Entender o significado político/poder da criptografia no século XX; Analisar o filme: “O jogo da imitação” tomando-o como fonte histórica para o entendimento da lógica da criptografia como mecanismo de poder; Historiar o desenvolvimento da tecnologia da máquina Enigma e desvelar os elementos de poder por detrás do uso da criptografia. A problemática seria de que maneira a criptografia passa a influenciar as estruturas de poder e ações militares a partir da descoberta da cifra da máquina Enigma? Temos as seguintes hipóteses: Devido a complexidade das relações internacionais, a partir do final do século XIX e início do século XX, as comunicações entre nações aliadas passaram a ter o cuidado de não serem descobertas pela espionagem dos rivais. Daí começa o esforço para o desenvolvimento de mecanismos de cifragem e codificação que levaram ao desenvolvimento das máquinas de cifragem até o desenvolvimento da máquina Enigma; A segunda hipótese seria que as Guerras Mundiais agilizaram as práticas de construção de máquinas de cifragem como forma de defesa de segredos nacionais; A análise do filme: “O jogo da imitação” nos mostrará o papel da Matemática e a ação da Universidade no processo de criação tecnológica para desvendamento de “enigmas”.

Esta tese traça um estudo comparativo entre o Romance policial contemporâneo e o discurso psicanalítico na produção ficcional de Luiz Alfredo Garcia-Roza (1936-) e Dennis Lehane (1963-), tomando, por base, relações de aproximação entre os métodos investigativos na literatura e na psicanálise. Para isso, o corpus constitui-se dos romances O silêncio da chuva (1996) e Espinosa sem saída (2006), ambos do escritor brasileiro e Sagrado [Sacred] (2004) e Paciente 67 [Shttter Island] (2005), do ficcionista norte-americano. A análise destas narrativas revela pontos de aproximação entre os dois discursos inseridos no cenário cultural caótico e desajustado. E questiona a emergência deste novo contexto sociocultural, onde personagens sem identidade definida, sendo o principal deles, o detetive, realizam sua flânerie através de deslocamentos constantes associados à paisagem e em busca do desvendamento do crime urbano. Como seres de ficção perdidos, estes private eyes precisam encontrar os desajustes psíquicos de toda espécie de criminosos daí a representação da cidade, que ora se converte no solo para a flânerie dos investigadores, ora contribui para o apagamento e/ou ocultamento das subjetividades criminais. A relação entre os discursos policial e psicanalítico aponta para a associação entre a obscuridade do texto literário e o da cultura onde estamos inseridos sem falar do mal-estar de um e de outro campo, que tem a ver com as transformações da esfera da sociedade contemporânea / This dissertation aims at outlining a comparative study between the contemporary detective novel and the psychoanalytical discourse in the fictional production by Luiz Alfredo Garcia Roza (1936- ) and Dennis Lahane (1966- ), approaching particular investigative methods in literature and psychoanalysis. To do so, the corpus consists of four novels altogether: O silêncio da chuva (1996) and Espinosa sem saída (2006) by the Brazilian writer and Sagrado [Sacred] (2004) and Paciente 67 [Shutter Island] (2005) by the American fictionist. The analysis on these narratives points out similarities and idiosyncrasies between two discourses within a conflictive and chaotic cultural environment. Moreover, it highlights this new social and cultural realm where characters with undefined identities (the detective, above all) strive to evade from the atmosphere in which they are set and search for the resolution of urban crimes. As lost subjectivities, these private eyes need to decipher psychic dysfunctions of every sort of criminal thence, the representation of the city, featuring sometimes as the ground on which investigators work for the law and, at other times, as a hiding space for murderers. The relation between detective and psychoanalytic discourses remarks the association between the obscurity of the literary text and our cultural background not to mention the overall discomfort triggered by changes in contemporary societies

Etude des relations entre musique et astrologie par (1) un panorama européen de la présence de l’astrologie dans les traités de théorie musicale de la fin du 15ème siècle au début du 18ème siècle (Burzio, Gaffurio, Finck, Zarlino, Mersenne et l’horoscope du parfait musicien, Bartolus, Werckmeister) et dans les « Accademie » italiennes (l’Academia Ortolana d’Antonfrancesco Doni et l’Academia dei Gelati de Bologne), (2) l’étude des écrits astrologiques manuscrits et édités de compositeurs Italiens du 17ème siècle (Zacconi, Osio, P. F. Valentini) et (3) le décodage de l’astrologie dans un corpus de partitions musicales (analyse de Milleville, « Madrigali », 1617 ; Strozzi, « Elementorum », 1683 ; des sonates « Zodiacus Musicus »…). Lue en parallèle avec les énigmes musicales et « canoni enigmatici » italiens du 17ème siècle étudiés sous l’angle de l’expression de l’hermétisme et de l’ésotérisme musical. Les fonctions sociales, sacrées et symboliques de cette forme musicale ainsi que des caractéristiques esthétiques et herméneutiques propres au 17ème siècle se dégagent de l’analyse des sources (analyses détaillées des œuvres de Romano Micheli, du manuscrit de canons de P. F. Valentini et du manuscrit des « Hiéroglyphes musicaux » de Zacconi ; présentation des manuscrits de canons énigmes conservés au Museo Civico Musicale de Bologne (Nanino, Agostini, Costanzo Porta, Milanta, Martini, Mattei) et analyse des énigmes dans les messes romaines, Anerio, Soriano, Agostini…). Plus de 80 sources manuscrites (Venise, Pesaro, Milan, Bologne, Rome, Vatican, Londres) et de 120 sources anciennes (Agrippa, Bruno, Cardano, Ficino, Kircher ; Banchieri, Cerreto, Liberati, Rodio, Steffani…), 44 reproductions hors texte.

A partir de la clinique de l’enfant et de la mère dans les lieux d’accueil de la petite enfance il s’agit de montrer qu’il existe dans le positionnement maternel, un point de structure relatif à l’énigme, celle que le désir de l’enfant constitue pour la mère, qui est nécessaire pour ouvrir le champ dans lequel la subjectivité de l’enfant pourra se construire. En reprenant la construction subjective de l’enfant dans son lien à la mère nous montrons que lorsque l’énigme qu’est l’enfant pour la mère vient à être empêchée par le savoir scientifique ou névrotique de la mère, la construction subjective de l’enfant se trouve entravée.Nous examinons ensuite les conditions du savoir social sur les pratiques maternantes pour montrer qu’à la différence des temps « anciens » qui reposaient sur le mythe, toujours énigmatique, pour rendre compte des rapports sociaux et donc éducatifs, les temps actuels reposent sur une croyance au savoir scientifique qui évacue la question de l’énigme au profit de la réponse. Les pratiques éducatives prises dans cette croyance au savoir « bien faire » viennent mettre à mal la place vide que réserve l’énigme et dans laquelle l’enfant peut venir développer sa subjectivité, laissant ainsi au-devant de la scène clinique ces psychopathologies modernes que sont les « dys » et les troubles du développement. C’est alors dans la rencontre avec le clinicien que l’enfant pourra retrouver sa nécessaire position d’énigme, qui ouvre à une rencontre avec un regard qui l’unifie, au lieu de le figer, et qui ainsi lui réouvre la dimension de l’amour toujours énigmatique. / From the clinic with child and mother in early childhood reception areas, we demonstrate that exist in mother attitude in front of her child, a point of structure about enigma, desire of the child for the mother. This enigma is required to open the field in which the subjectivity of the child can grown. By resuming the construction subjective of the child in its relationship with the mother we show that when the enigma, that is the child for the mother, comes to be prevented by scientific or neurotic knowledge of the mother, construction of subjective child is hampered.Then we examine the conditions for social knowledge about mothering practices to show that unlike the "old" time that are relied on the myth, always enigmatic, to account for the social and educational relations, current time based on a belief to scientific knowledge which removes the issue of the puzzle for the benefit of the response. Educational practices taken in this belief to knowledge "get it" just to undermine the empty place that reserves the enigma and in which children can come to develop their subjectivity, leaving in front of the clinic stage that these modern psychopathology are the "dys" and developmental disorders. It is then in the meeting with the clinician that the child will need to regain its position enigma, opening a meeting with a look that unifies, rather than freeze, and thus opens his size love always enigmatic.
