Fearlessness The Seventh Element Of Drama

Wenge, Matt 01 January 2011 (has links)
Aristotle proclaimed in his Poetics that there were six elements to drama: spectacle, music, diction, thought, character, and plot. This paper will analyze the play Thom Pain (based on nothing) against these six elements. I will discuss the aspects of each element that are present in the show as well as the ideas and concepts my director, Tad Ingram, and I brought to the show. Through the rehearsal and performance process I discovered a seventh element; the element of fearlessness. In his Poetics, Aristotle does not fully address what the actor brings to the performance and this aspect is just as important as what the script and staging bring to the performance.

Numerical simulations of natural or mixed convection in vertical channels : comparisons of level-set numerical schemes for the modeling of immiscible incompressible fluid flows / Simulations numériques de la convection naturelle ou mixte dans des canaux verticaux : comparaisons de schémas numériques level-set pour la modélisation d'écoulements de fluides immiscibles et incompressibles

Li, Ru 12 December 2012 (has links)
The aim of this research dissertation is at studying natural and mixed convections of fluid flows, and to develop and validate numerical schemes for interface tracking in order to treat incompressible and immiscible fluid flows, later. In a first step, an original numerical method, based on Finite Volume discretizations, is developed for modeling low Mach number flows with large temperature gaps. Three physical applications on air flowing through vertical heated parallel plates were investigated. We showed that the optimum spacing corresponding to the peak heat flux transferred from an array of isothermal parallel plates cooled by mixed convection is smaller than those for natural or forced convections when the pressure drop at the outlet keeps constant. We also proved that mixed convection flows resulting from an imposed flow rate may exhibit unexpected physical solutions; alternative model based on prescribed total pressure at inlet and fixed pressure at outlet sections gives more realistic results. For channels heated by heat flux on one wall only, surface radiation tends to suppress the onset of recirculations at the outlet and to unify the walls temperature. In a second step, the mathematical model coupling the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations and the Level-Set method for interface tracking is derived. Improvements in fluid volume conservation by using high order discretization (ENO-WENO) schemes for the transport equation and variants of the signed distance equation are discussed

No. of bitstreams: 1 Juliana Garzillo Cavalcanti.pdf: 2275954 bytes, checksum: d3e546f0144d916c226dd77d5290b8da (MD5) Previous issue date: 2017-06-23 / Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPq / This study analyses the borderline zone that 77 Million Paintings, from Brian Eno (United Kingdom, 1948), is in. The art work presents itself in different platforms: software, DVD, audiovisual installation and urban art. The research focuses on reading the work’s poetics that are addressed in spaces in between different languages, senses and technologies. The art work is built with a recombinant language system which makes images and sound montages in different platforms. 77 Million Paintings is presented in various countries between the years 2006 and 2016. The study analyses the poetics and communication process and the sensual stimulus as well. A reflection is made about the choices and path made by Brian Eno in the creation of this art work. Been present in the experimental and popular worlds, the artist’s involvement with music contaminates his creation in another fields. It is possible to recognize music traces in the image language from 77 Million Paintings, and the opposite can be observed too, when the image contaminates sound as well. The analysis is constructed through the extremities way method, from Christine Mello (2016). The identification of the poetics procedures of deconstruction and contamination forms the study of the blurred borderlines between the worlds of Brian Eno and 77 Million Paintings. About the contamination between different senses, Sérgio Basbaum (2002) ideas are used in the reading of the synesthesia’s work. To the analysis about the emergent system of the art work, Bill Seaman (2010) gives basis to the reflection about 77 Million Paintings software and it’s aesthetic results / O presente estudo analisa a zona fronteiriça em que 77 Million Paintings, de Brian Eno (Reino Unido, 1948), está inserida.

Ruiz Baier, Ricardo 17 March 2005 (has links) (PDF)
The main objective of this dissertation is to present an adaptation of some finite volume methods used in the resolution of problems arising in sedimentation processes of flocculated suspensions (or sedimentation with compression).<br />This adaptation is based on the utilization of multiresolution techniques, originally designed to reduce the computational cost incurred in solving using high resolution schemes in the numerical solution of hyperbolic systems of conservation laws.

Composing with the tape recorder : A case study of My Life in the Bush of Ghosts by Brian Eno &amp; David Byrne

Åström, Johanna January 2020 (has links)
This work describes the utilisation of the tape recorder as an instrument, the methods derived by musique concrète and the evolution of these practices. This leads on to its application that opened different creativity streams to many genres of music that we listen to today. This dissertation dives in the further to talk about to the album ‘My Life in the Bush of Ghosts’ by Brian Eno and David Byrne its cult status, revolutionary production and opens doors to discussing cultural appropriation and copyright infringement.

Nuevas rutas sintéticas de perhidrofuro[2,3-b]furanos

Sánchez Terrés, Daniel 16 September 2011 (has links)

Sandström, Viktor January 2022 (has links)

Milveden, Jens January 2022 (has links)
”Ambient Music”, established and described by its ”creator” Brian Eno, has become a term with a wide range of uses - as generative music, in sound- and audiovisual art installation, a mediated ”sound” of a genre through albums and artists to plug in to during your daily walk - as well as any imaginable association with the term connected to public, spatial or virtual ambience. Through the liner notes of the genres original albums (Ambient 1: Music For Airports of 1978, and to some extent Discreet Music of 1975) it is clear though that the original idea is more related to listening to your own spatial awareness as a form of music rather than a following of certain sounds and conventions that the term has been associated with. At the time as a sonic alternative to conventional background music of public spaces. The author suggests that these ideas never would have surfaced if it wasn’t for the earlier ideas of Erik Satie and John Cage, whose sonic frameworks and instructions beyond the traditional music sheet were vital for Eno to create generative canvases of sounding art for the spaces. The paper then focuses on consolidating the term ”Ambient Music” with its frameworks in art and function by deconstructing it between spatial, architectonic usage and as a mediated genre of a ”sound”, via virtual generative music - and back again, via its original description of enhancing environments ”acoustic and atmospheric idiosyncracies”. With Eno’s original thesis in mind the paper continues to explore where ”Ambient Music” (through arguably its sub-genre, ”Spatial Music”) is today, as well as looking at the potential futures for the genres’ artistic functions as an established and accepted sonic element of physical architecture and public spaces. This exemplified by building a bridge between ”Ambient Music” and the modern ”non-ambient” sonic scenographer, ”Spatial Music”-artist Mareike Dobewall, for further discussions on sound art as sounding architecture - a potential future for the Ambient label.
