Analýza správy podnikových dokumentů v SSČS a.s. a návrh na její optimalizaci / Analysis of enterprise content management in SSČS a.s. and its optimization designLokaj, Lukáš January 2013 (has links)
This thesis focuses on design of document exchange solution used between Stavební spořitelna České spořitelny a.s. (SSČS) and its external sales network, which is outdated and doesn't meet the needs of SSČS or sales network. The thesis also includes the identification of suitable basic principles used in the service-oriented architecture (SOA) concept and their application in design solutions. The aim of the thesis is a conceptual solution design, based on the principles of SOA and the following technological design of changes in existing environment, so that on this basis could be created a functional and technical specification for suppliers of these applications. Stated objective is achieved through an initial analysis of the current environment, which identifies the possibilities of existing applications, and identifies weaknesses in the process that will be changed in the new solution. The analysis covers as the environment of external sales network as the related environment in SSČS, which together figure in the process of documentation exchange. As the results of the analysis and based on theoretical knowledge and consultation with experts in the field of SOA is then formulated a proposed solution at the conceptual level, which is further elaborated in the description of the proposed changes in individual components of the new solution. The outputs of this thesis will serve SSČS both in terms of describing the existing and the new environment, and as an input for the specifications of the proposed amendments to the supplier concerned applications. Structure of the thesis consists of introduction, devoted to the characterization of SSČS and providing an initial framework for solved domain. This is followed by a description and the analysis of external sales network, particularly in terms of application equipment and communication flows, followed by a description of the environment in SSČS, which contains the components processing sent documents. Next part of thesis is devoted to the formulation of the basic concepts of SOA and selection of appropriate principles that are followed in the subsequent section to draft the solution itself, first at the conceptual level, followed by a detailed description of the necessary changes. Everything is then evaluated in the final part.

Graduate students and professors (researchers, in general) regularly access, review, and use large amounts of research papers, yet none of the existing tools and solutions provides the wide range of functionalities required to properly manage these resources. Additionally, we propose a novel research paper recommendation technique, used within Papyres. Its uniqueness lies in the multicriteria aspect introduced in the process of collaborative filtering, allowing researchers to indicate their interest in specific parts of articles. Moreover, we suggest test and compare several approaches to determine the neighbourhood in the Multicriteria Collaborative Filtering process, such as to increase the accuracy of the recommendation. A framework to embed medical records management into the healthcare service delivery in Limpopo Province of South AfricaMarutha, Ngoako Solomon 09 1900 (has links)
The importance of records management to the provision of healthcare services cannot be overemphasised. If medical records are not managed properly, this might result in the provision of poor healthcare services. This is because usually if medical records are not properly managed, the healthcare institutions attain inaccurate, untimely, incomplete and unauthentic records or the records fade completely. Records that are not managed properly are easily lost, modified, altered, misfiled and/or damaged, which results in a struggle to locate them and, eventually, much time is lost. Records of this kind may not support healthcare service providers properly in decision-making, problem-solving, monitoring and evaluation of service for continuous service improvement. This study utilised the five elements of trusted records management (records management governance practice, staff capacity and competencies, recordkeeping system and technology, and records archival processes) to investigate the development of a framework to embed medical records management into the healthcare service delivery practice for effective records management practice. The study predominantly utilised a quantitative approach with some support from a limited scope of qualitative data to augment numeric data. The data was collected using the four different techniques, namely questionnaire, interview, observation and system/documents analysis. The study revealed that the mode of medical record management was not effectively enabling the institution to manage medical records properly due to lack of integrated medical records management framework into the healthcare business process. The medical records management technology also lacked file tracking system, records backup, and audit trail which compromise records safety and security. The study recommended supply of the necessary resources, with a framework that the healthcare institutions may adopt to embed medical records management into the healthcare service delivery. ECM may also be implemented to incorporate electronic records management systems, information management, web content and other add-ons to support the records management framework in ensuring effective discharge of all records management functional requirements on the healthcare business process. A further study was recommended about the development of an online outpatient consultation system and medical records access to avoid patient long turnaround time for service. / Information Science / D. Implementation of Enterprise Content Management System in Western Cape Government, South AfricaMohlala, Popopo Design 07 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to investigate the implementation of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) system at Western Cape Government (WCG), South Africa. The study evaluated the state of the implementation in order to establish whether the system met information and records management requirements and objectives. A
probability sampling was used on a total population of 51 respondents and participants. The data were triangulated using multi-methods, whereby both qualitative and quantitative approaches were adopted in a sequential manner. A structured online survey questionnaire, online interviews, and document analysis were used to collect data, which were descriptively analysed.
The study revealed that although the WCG has embarked on digitisation projects,
which culminated in the department-wide implementation of ECM, the system was not evaluated regularly and consistently. This resulted in an inability to capture the lessons learnt – as well as a failure to realise the full benefits of implementing the system. The findings also showed that ECM implementation at WCG encountered some challenges – for example, inadequate training provided to staff, lack of adequate technology infrastructure, and poor technical support with regard to
systems for managing digital records – that impacted on the system’s efficiency.
Some of the recommendations of the study are that WCG should consider conducting regular ECM reviews to determine whether the system performs as required in terms of bringing about expected benefits, such as easy retrieval of digitally stored content.
Departments should also ensure that there is an alignment among various digital applications for the purpose of creating a single enterprise platform that promotes collaboration and knowledge sharing. A study of ECM implementation in other provinces would enable a comparison of how the system performs elsewhere,
including how it could be used as a viable option for organisations to promote digitisation. / Information Science / M. Inf. (Information Science)

Integrating enterprise resource planning into electronic content management in a South African water utility companyMello, Vincent Malesela 12 1900 (has links)
Bibliography: pages 184-207 / Digital records are either stored in an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system or
electronic content management (ECM), or managed without the benefit of either system.
In many countries, public and private organisations have implemented ECM systems, some
have implemented ERP systems and others generate digital records without the benefit of
any controlled system. In most organisations such systems are not integrated resulting in
duplication and fragmentation of records. The South African Water Utility company, Rand
Water, has implemented both ERP and ECM systems. Investing in these systems as an
organisation comes at a cost but it can add value when used optimally to improve the
organisation’s productivity and efficiency. To achieve high productivity and efficiency,
integration of an ERP system into an ECM system is a requirement but remains lacking.
This qualitative study utilised the Actor Network Theory to explore the integration of ERP
into ECM at the South African Water Utility company, Rand Water, with a view to
developing a framework for integration of the systems. The study utilised a system analysis
case design with fourteen interviews conducted at different levels in the organisation and
diverse business units using ERP and ECM to perform their operational deliverables in line
with the organisation’s business objectives. The interviews were augmented with data from
document analysis of policies, specifications and functionalities of the systems to
determine the feasibility of integration. The study established that the water utility
company has implemented ERP systems (SAP) since 1994 and ECM system since 1991
(Papertrail and later IBM FileNet) with only information flow module integrated. The study
suggested that to integrate ERP into ECM, human and non-human actors need to
collaborate to ensure that the actor network being integrated is achieved. The study also
presents a strategy discussion for integrating ERP into ECM. A further study on the transfer
of digital records in ECM into archival custody is recommended. / Information Science / D. Phil. (Information Science)
