This literary work is an important source of research on an era and its society as well as on understanding the process of building a novel and the writer's role in society. Its importance lies in its gathering of readings made by Erico on the Rio-Grandense past. The time frame of this study covers the period in which Erico wrote and published its novel, 1947 and 1962, as well as the narrative s time, from 1745 until 1895. From a gender perspective we can examine how characters were build. Gender studies enabled the historian to observe societies from different times from angles not previously imagined, causing the characters to gain new social outlines. The emergence of other stories, besides the possibility of new subjects and objects, forms of analysis, methodologies and different styles for the researcher contributed to the choice of the epic narrative, because of its ability to articulate the features of a temporal experience. The paper was constructed in two phases: the first part discusses the process of writing the book, the interferences from reality lived in the novel, the urge to build an identity for men and women of Rio-Grande; the second part is about analysing gender relations of the novel, the social role that men and women played in the group and gender relations that were established in the social dynamics / A problemática central desta tese é centrada na produção da obra O Tempo e o Vento, de Erico Verissimo, e na análise das relações de gênero presentes no primeiro volume da obra, intitulado O Continente.

Daurel et Beton : étude de l'oeuvre et traduction / Old french south epic poetry in old provençal. Daurel et Beton

Le Denic, Catherine 06 June 2019 (has links)
Daurel et Beton is a chanson de geste written in old provencal, and a particular poetic form from the twelfth century. What are the resources to create the epic material ? Surely the lyric language : the forms are loud-sounding, full of matter, highly musical, and the chanson. quite different from those of Northern France, returns to the primary source of epics. Moreover, in Daurel et Beton, noteworthy is the fact that the jongleur exceeds the cultural and metalinguistic functions he fulfils usually in the genre and becomes a character of primary interest in the plot. Besides, this text deserves en anthropology investigation. i.e. how the feudal suciety is showned in tbe narratives situations, and which are the interactions between individuals in the Middle Ages society depicted in South Old French epics. Thus, it is possible to tackle the status of the epic imaginary bound to the poetic form, and to observe how genre and its style evolved int the South of France.
