Ljusets känslomässiga färgskala : En studie om ljusets funktion i Euphoria

Mogstad, Cassandra, Paulsrud, Henrika January 2021 (has links)

Utas, Elliot January 2023 (has links)
The aim of this paper is to understand how trans people who write and read fanfiction about gender euphoria create meaningful writing processes, contextualize community, and orientate themselves in the world by telling stories about gender euphoria and related emotional experiences. I have conducted interactive chat interviews with four study participants and have, as a way of using an autoethnographic research method, included my own narratives as part of the material. Thus, the material used in this study consists of transcripts of collective sensemaking and discussions about differences and similarities in the experiences that the study participants and I tell each other about. I have analyzed the material using queer phenomenology and affect theory. I have found that the study participants have both varied and similar experiences of finding representation, of translating their emotions into actions, and of (re)shaping what it is that they, as trans people, can do and what narratives they can tell and experience.

Ral, Lyne 29 August 2023 (has links)

Euphoria : -en analys om hur droganvändning gestaltas i HBOs serie Euphoria / Euphoria : -an analysis of how drug use is visualized in HBO’s series Euphoria

Nilsson, Alicia January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of this essay is to analyze the visual and narrative visualization of drug use inEuphoria and how different interpretations can be understood through theories aboutrepresentation with coding/decoding as key concepts. Through denotative signs, thespectators' possible connotations are addressed in a qualitative analysis in order to answerthe question, "How is drug use in the Euphoria series visualized and what possibleinterpretations can be made from a representation-theoretical perspective?". The directorSam Levinson's way of visualizing both the positive and the negatives of drug use whichdiscusses the global problem of drugs and addiction has created divided opinions about theseries. The result was that the visual and narrative sign connotations are affected byindividuals' conceptual maps and that the connotation that follows the previousconnotation affects the overall connotation.

Att erövra femininitet : En narrativ analys av sexualitet och identitet hos utvalda kvinnliga karaktärer i tv-serien Euphoria / To conquer femininity : A narrative analysis of sexuality and identity of selected female characters in the tv-series Euphoria

Wredendal, Cornelia, Wilhelmson, Emelie January 2022 (has links)
Euphoria is a popular tv-series that has become a part of popular culture with its dark imagery and strong characters. The characters became a big discussion in social media and mantras that people are taking inspiration from. The series has become a phenomenon in social media where people recreate the characters makeup and outfits. This study looked at how female characters are portrayed in Euphoria from a female stereotypic and gender identity perspective. And we wanted to see if the female characters are challenging heteronormativity that is reflected in our society. We used a narrative analysis and mise-en-scéne to analyze the chosen scenes, the theories we used were gender theory, gender role theory and queer theory. The result showed that three of the characters are shown as the typical female stereotype and two of them are not. The three females that are more like the stereotypes are portrayed in a sexualized way and their bodies are shown for entertainment and selling purposes. Meanwhile the two female characters that challenge heteronormativity are portrayed as norm breaking and they are not sexualized. The gender roles are shining through when some of the feminine women are acting from what is expected of a woman. They are seeking after what the ideals are and how they can be their most beautiful selves based on the stereotypes while some of them do not.

“Drugs make me myself” : En multimodal kritisk diskursanalys av ungdomsdramer Euphoria ochSkins UK

Lam, Van Sopheaktra, Pasic, Ajla January 2024 (has links)
Global alcohol- and drug consumption is a big health problem, despite the fact that the amount of usage has decreased throughout the years. Our interest for this study arose because earlier research showed that films, series and television can affect viewers' perceptions regarding alcohol- and drug use. Thus we were interested in examining how alcohol- and drug use is constructed in the teen dramas Skins UK and Euphoria, considering that these series manage subjects such as drugs, alcohol and addiction. The method this study conducted was multimodal critical discourse analysis (MCDA) because this method is used to analyze audiovisual materials. The theoretical framework for this study consists of poststructuralism, socialsemiotics and filmsemiotics to analyze and identify discourses in our empirical material. Our empirical material was analyzed by looking at poses, facial expressions, lexical choices, distance, sound and music. The results showed that the construction of alcohol- and drug use in the respective series was more negative than positive. Four discourses were identified from the results: escapism, anxiety management, connection and self-destructiveness.
