Selfrefleksiwiteit in die (post)modernisitiese drama /teaterVan der Westhuizen, Pieter Christoffel 11 1900 (has links)
so akuut in die literer-teoretiese diskoers neerslag vind.
enkoderingsproses in diens neem.
omverwerp. / Mirror, hall of mirrors, mise-en-abyme, representation, et cetera are all concepts
associated with the notion of self-reflexivity. While self-reflexivity is not a new
phenomenon, the question is why, in our time, it should be so acutely present in
the discourse of literary theory - especially in theoretic contributions on
Postmodernism and/or Postmodernist texts.
One is lead to conclude that self-reflexivity and Postmodernism are directly linked.
This study, then, focuses primarily on how Postmodernist drama/theatre employs
the notion of self-reflexivity in the encoding process. It also explores the impact
of the concept of alienation in twentieth century drama/theatre on the various views
of self-reflexivity. The fmal objective is to show that self-reflexivity in
Postmodernist drama/theatre challenges ftxed suppositions about art as a reflection
of reality. / Afrikaans, Theory of Literature / M.A. (Theory of Literature)

Starting from Francis Ponge's work, this PhD thesis argues for the referential plausibility of the poetic language. This assumption has often been contested partly because of the cliché of poetic self-referentiality and partly because the concept of referentiality has had an extremely restricted approach. This thesis suggests that, on the contrary, a poem's capability of becoming a particular and significant configuration does by no means imply a lessening of its representative force. Indeed: if poetry is creation by means of language, everything we judge as poetic stems solely from the idiosyncrasy of verbal expression. Thus, the thesis argues for the referential efficiency of ordinary language to then illustrate the referential efficiency of the poetic. It focuses in particular on the verbum as put forth by Francis Ponge. This author's poetics is best characterized by its persistence in a convinced referentiality, which leads Ponge to address things, and which takes him to sound the depths of words.

Za hranicami fikčného rozprávania / Towards the Boundaries of Fictional NarrativePčola, Marián January 2013 (has links)
My thesis examines the nature of contemporary fictional narration and explores its relations to other types of narration - mainly texts where educational or informative function prevails over the aesthetic one. The whole work is divided into four parts. The first part is theoretical; it sets up basic areas of interest and names methods, tools and models that will be tested on selected examples from Slavonic literatures. The second part analyses spatial and temporal relations of fictional narrative. Chapter 2.1 treats time and space in a novel mostly from the compositional point of view (based on the example of Sasha Sokolov's A School for Fools), while in the next chapter, focusing on ideational interconnections between literary and social- political utopias, both fictionality and temporality are understood more broadly than mere narrative categories: they serve as certain points of connection between the immanent occurrence of meaning in the "world of text" and its historical background. The third part continues in this direction, only what we mean by context here is not the collective historical background, but an individual sphere of everyday life. Our focus switches to two genres standing on the boundary of literary fiction and non-fiction - personal correspondence and a travel journal (travelogue). The...
