Burisch, Markus 28 February 2020 (has links)

Tewes, Elisabeth 26 June 2015 (has links)

The objective of this work to assess the supply of silicon for organic waste agribusiness, and to evaluate the influence of this nutrient in the accumulation of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg ) and sulfur (S) in maize. We analyzed the accumulation of silicon in the leaves and stems of the plant and the effect of these sources in stem diameter, the height and mass of dry corn plant, as well as the accumulation of N, P, K, Ca, Mg and S in corn leaves provided by agro-industrial residues and by levels of silicon used. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse in a completely randomized design (4x3) + 1. We evaluated three sources organic agribusiness (bagasse ash from sugar cane filter cake rotary sugarcane and rice hulls), and for the supply of silicon also evaluated the mineral source (calcium silicate PA); three strengths of SiO2 (175 kg ha-1, 350 kg ha-1 and 700 kg ha-1) and additional treatment (control), which received no SiO2. The sources and doses of SiO2 did not affect the mass of dried corn plants. However, the addition of SiO2 dose provided an increase in the diameter of stem of the maize plant. The rice hulls was more efficient among all treatments in Si supply to the corn crop. The supply of Si favors the absorption and consequent accumulation of potassium and phosphorus from the corn plant. There was no relationship between the supply of Si and Mg and S uptake by corn plant. Finally, there was no relationship between the accumulation of Si and the reduction of leaf N in corn plants.

O custo de produção do extrato de cera foi estimado em US$ 13.626,93/tonelada / Abstract: The purpose of this work was to determine the manufacturing cost for the wax extract obtained from residues of the sugar cane and ethanol industry (filter cake), using SFE (Supercritical Fluid Extraction). Experiments were accomplished to determine the global yield isotherms, the overall extraction curves (kinetic of extraction) and to identification chemical composition of the extracts. The global yield isotherms were determined at the pressures of 100, 150, 200, 250, 300 and 350 bar and temperatures of 50 ºC and 30 ºC The amount of raw material (raw material A) used in each trial was 2.5 grams and a CO2 flowrate of 0.249 ± 0.002 kg/h. The experiments were duplicated. In order to determine the overall extraction curves (OEC), distinct raw materials were used from three different regions of São Paulo State (raw materials A, B and C). The OEC for the raw material A was initially determined at 50 ºC, with 200 bar and 350 bar of pressure respectively. In spite of 50 ºC be chosen initially, the experiments were accomplished in the SFE (Supercritical Fluid Extraction) equipment at 60 ºC and 200 bar for the raw material A, B and C being the temperature chosen due to characteristics of extract high viscosity (solid state at the ambient or room temperature). A 25 grams raw material sample was used in each trial with an outflow of 0,249 ± 0,003 kg/h of CO2 (a relation of 15 kg of CO2/kg of raw material). The extractors capacity was estimated from the extraction yield, the extraction time of Constant Extraction Rate period (CER) and the physical characteristics of the raw material (density, porosity, etc.). Extractors sizing considered the compatibility with existent extractors commercial capacity. This capacity estimation allowed the attainment of the product cost, from an economic analysis where investment cost, equipment cost, cost of operating labor, cost of operating supplies, etc. have been determined, composing the total extraction cost. The cost sensitivity was analyzed for variations in the investment cost, cost of operating supplies, energy cost, cost of operating labor and extraction income, showing that the production cost is influenced mainly by the variation in the investment cost and by the variation of the extraction yield. The determined wax extract obtaining cost, with SFE technology, was US$ 13,626.93/ton except for taxes / Mestrado / Mestre em Engenharia de Alimentos

Seupel, Sabine 31 March 2021 (has links)
The displacement washing of filter cakes consisting of porous particles is investigated using macro- and mesoporous silica gels. The filter cakes of KCl-containing suspensions are formed in a pressure filter device according to VDI-2762-2. The filter cakes are flown through with deionized water via a perforated piston and the washing success is determined by balancing the K+ ions. The porosity of the silica gel filter cakes is 80 % and 50 % of the mother liquor is trapped in the inner pores. Nevertheless, with 1 % residual loading, washing results are similar to those for non-porous solids (quartz, glass). The inner pores are cleaned, the distinct diffusion region in the washing curve postulated in the literature is not visible. Calculations according to CARMAN-KOZENY, FICK and by means of dimensionless quantities illustrate that both perfusion and diffusion influence the washing of porous systems. The presented models are also suitable for practical applications.

Development of Process Models for Multiphase Processes in the Pore Space of a Filter Cake based on 3D Information

Löwer, Erik 20 May 2022 (has links)
Reliable information about the micro-processes during filtration and dewatering of filter cakes allows more accurate statements about process development and design in any industrial application with solid-liquid separation units. Distributed particle properties such as shape, size, and material influence the formation of the porous network structure, which can show considerable local fluctuations in vertical and horizontal alignment in the cake forming apparatus. The present work relates to a wide range of particle sizes and particle shapes and presents their effects on integral, but preferably local, structural parameters of cake filtration. Current models for the relationship between particle properties and resulting porous structure remain inaccurate. Therefore, the central question focus on the model-based correlation between obtained tomographic 3D information and characteristic cake and process parameters. In combination with X-ray computed tomography and microscopy (ZEISS Xradia 510), data acquisition of the structural build-up of filter cakes is possible on a small scale (filter area 0.2 cm²) and a conventional laboratory scale (filter area 20 cm², VDI 2762 pressure nutsch). Thereby, the work focuses on structural parameters at the local level before, during, and after cake dewatering, such as porosity, coordination number, three-phase contact angle, characteristics of pores and isolated liquid regions, the liquid load of individual particles, tortuosity, and capillary length, and the corresponding spatial distributions. Seven different particle systems in the range of 20 and 500 µm, suspended in aqueous solutions with additives for contrast enhancement, served as raw materials for the filter cake formation. Image data processing from 16-bit greyscale images with a resolution of 2 to 4 µm/voxel edge length includes various operations with a two-stage segmentation to identify air, solid particles, and liquid phase, resulting in a machine learning-based automated approach. Subsequent modeling and correlation of measured parameters rely on experimentally verified quantities from mercury porosimetry, laser diffraction, dynamic image analysis, static and dynamic droplet contour analysis, as well as filtration and capillary pressure tests according to VDI guidelines. The tomography measurements provide microscopic information about the porous system, quantified using characteristic key parameters and distribution functions. By studying the cake structure concerning the local distribution of particle size and shape and the resulting porosity, segregation effects can be avoided by increasing the feed concentration of particles, whereby swarm inhibition of particles in the initial suspension strongly hinders or completely suppresses layer formation in the cake according to distributed particle properties (Publication A). In the subsequent dewatering of the filter cake to the irreducible saturation, the measurement of the local coordination number as well as the remaining liquid volumes at the particle contacts allows the determination of a discrete liquid load distribution by correlation with the respective particle volume (Publication B). The determination of the capillary length - shortest capillary for single-phase pore flow and capillary of least resistance for multiphase pore flow - provides modeling approaches for the cake formation from publication A as well as the dewatering process from publication B (Publication C). The parameter sets obtained also help to transfer and extend existing, theoretical models of multiphase pore flow to the application example of filter cake dewatering (Publication D). At the microscopic level, the measurement of the three-phase contact angle at isolated liquid volumes within the porous matrix provides a deeper understanding of the macroscopic models from publications C and D (Publication E).:List of Figures List of Tables Notation 1 Introduction 2 Multiphase Processes in Porous Media 2.1 Cake Filtration and Single Phase Porous Media Flow 2.2 Cake Dewatering 2.2.1 Particle Surface Wettability 2.2.2 Capillarity in Porous Media 2.2.3 Static Capillary Pressure 2.2.4 Dynamic Capillary Pressure 3 Acquisition of 3D Information of Porous Media 3.1 Absorption and Scattering of X-rays 3.2 X-ray Microscopy 3.2.1 Image Acquisition 3.2.2 Image Reconstruction 3.2.3 Image Quality and Artifacts 3.3 Image Post-Processing 3.3.1 Image Enhancement 3.3.2 Segmentation and Thresholding 3.3.3 Processing Binary Images 3.4 Image Measurement 4 Materials and Methods 4.1 The Solid Phase 4.2 The Liquid Phase 4.3 Suspension Stability 4.4 Experimental Design and Down-Scale for Tomography Measurements 4.5 Experimental Characterization of Filtration and Dewatering Properties 4.5.1 Cake Filtration 4.5.2 Cake Dewatering (Capillary Pressure Measurements) 5 Conclusion and Outlook Literature Publications A to E Appendix

Estudo do melhoramento do solo utilizando resíduos gerados na cadeia produtiva da cana-de-açúcar: uma avaliação da matéria orgânica do solo empregando técnicas espectroscópicas / Study of soil amendment under sugar mill waste: an organic matter assessment with spectroscopic techniques

Carvalho, Camila Miranda 12 May 2015 (has links)
Given the good performance of Brazilian agriculture, grows the responsibility for sustainable production. Particularly, the sugarcane production system has been adapting to a production without burning, and seeks alternative forms of waste management in production that are both economically and environmentally sustainable. We present results of arable soil treatments with i) sugarcane bagasse ash applied in coverage soil and ii) filter cake applied between the lines of culture in different doses. We assess the impact of these treatments on the content and quality of soil organic matter and carbon sequestration capacity. To determine if treatments can be considered environmentally sustainable and carbon sequestration we embrace the selective preservation as a retention mechanism of soil organic matter, which leads to accumulation of chemical organic compounds recalcitrant. We use bidimensional fluorescence UV-Visible spectroscopy and fluorescence excitation-emission matrix to assess the fraction of soil humic acid, the laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy (LIF) for observing the whole organic matter and laser breakdown induced spectroscopy (LIBS) used as a new tool to assess the soil carbon content. The soil treatment with sugarcane bagasse ash had increased carbon stock in dose 40 t / ha. In humic acid fraction did not observe any change in the degree of humification treatment with AML, but there was an increase of carbonyl groups, which are associated with increased intermolecular interactions and enhancing the complexation of metals with humic acid. Our results suggest a possible improvement in crop growth conditions with an increase of aliphatic groups in MOS. The filter cake is no carbon content recorded, also did not observe any impact on soil organic matter with the incorporation of filter cake although this is a product rich in organic matter. In this context, we conclude that there was no negative impact on the carbon stock and quality of soil organic matter under treatment addition of sugarcane bagasse ash and filter cake.
