The Educational Needs of Wives of Seminary Students During the First Five Years of Their Ministries

Dodrill, Leslie J. (Leslie Jo) 05 1900 (has links)
A survey instrument was mailed to a random sampling of wives of graduates of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas, from 1982 to 1986. The purpose of the survey was to determine if wives of seminary graduates have ministry-related educational needs during the first five years of professional ministry that can be met by an educational program. Furthermore, demographic and attitudinal variables were investigated as potential contributing factors. Finally, suggestions were sought from the wives themselves for the implementation of an education program. For each wife, a total educational need score was calculated from her responses. Of the 240 respondents who completed the entire survey document, almost 42% of the respondents indicated a high educational need score with 5% producing a very high need score. Of the top twenty educational needs, only one was from the Theological/Christian Education category; the top three were all from Self Needs regarding stress management, dealing with criticism, and conflict resolution. The Chi Square Test for Independence was used to identify contributing factors, both demographic and attitudinal. The following were validated at the .05 level (unless indicated otherwise) as having a relationship to the wives' scores: Year of Husband's Graduation, Husband's Degree, Size of Community (.06), Wife's Age, Wife's Field of Highest Degree, Age of Youngest Child, Type of Wife's Most Recent Position, Number of Educational Opportunities Participated in while at the Seminary, Satisfaction with Current Roles, and Perceived Education Gap. Variables for which there was not sufficient evidence of the existence of a relationship were: Number of Years of Husband's Full-time Ministry, Husband's Most Recent Position in Ministry, Size of Largest Congregation, Highest Level of the Wife's Education, Date of Marriage: Before or After Seminary, Number of Children, Age of Oldest Child, Employment during Seminary, Current Employment, Primary Reason for Current Employment, Number of Current Leadership Roles, View of Role of Minister's Wife, Satisfaction with Previous Training, and Satisfaction with Current Training.

Dufour, Marie, Jacq, Lucas January 2017 (has links)
In our economic era, the youth unemployment is a considerable issue. The labour market isblocked and it is a challenge for young people to find a stable job, especially in specificfields as social sciences or humanity studies. After graduating, the job seeking can take fewweeks even few months. Thus, entrepreneurship appears as a solution for those younggraduates who do not find a job or as a future career. Historically speaking, entrepreneurshipwas defined as an economic phenomenon but is seen as a broader concept today. Throughdecades, notions as opportunity, risk-taking and creativity have been added to the definitionbut also the different forms of entrepreneurship as social, societal, ecological or educational.Everyone can be an entrepreneur in his own way and young people are seduced by thisconcept that brings independence and freedom. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate onthe way young graduates who decided to turn themselves into entrepreneurship experiencetheir engagement in this field. To answer the research question, the abductive method hasbeen used. The thesis’ authors interviewed six young graduates who are engaged in variousprojects in order to collect the different experiences and relate them with the differentconcepts of entrepreneurship. After gathering the empirical data and analysed it with diversetheories, a conclusion has been drawn. It showed that there is no common way ofexperiencing entrepreneurship and that personality can have a valuable role concerning thedecision-making. In the following manuscript, theories and interviews have been collectedto reflect on engagement that can be taken by young graduates.

Patienten och den nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskan : - förutsättningar och hinder för en vårdande relation i somatisk slutenvård

Arons, Elin, Slagarp, My January 2017 (has links)
Background: Nurses gains patients trust through caring relationships. The relation-building process is different each time and demand adjustments to the patient and the situation. Aim: To explore the preconditions and barriers to create caring relationships, among newly graduated nurses in somatic inpatient. Methods: The study is a qualitative descriptive interview study, with semi-structured interviews, following an interview guide. Eight nurses were recruited through snowball selection. Data was analysed with qualitative content analysis. Results: Conditions needed to create caring relationships were, among others, the access of time, that the nurse had an empathetic personality, a person-centered approach and that the patient had an interest in the relationship. Factors that challenged the caring relationship were lack of continuity, stressful environment, lack of communication, lack of trust from the patient or if the patient were instable or had a cognitive impairment. Conclusions: Lack of experience made it difficult to establish caring relationships. God support from colleges decreased stress among the nurses, which made it easier to create caring relationships. Further research of what kind of support that is needed among newly examined nurses to facilitate caring relationships is needed.

Fit für die Energie- und Wasserwirtschaft

Klauser, Fritz, Krah, Nils, Moschner, Ute, Schlicht, Juliana 26 October 2016 (has links) (PDF)

Ready for the energy and water industries: knowledge and skills of business professionals and excecutives

Eulitz, Christin, Klauser, Fritz, Moschner, Ute, Schlicht, Juliana 26 October 2016 (has links) (PDF)
Dynamic changes taking place in the energy and water industries are bringing with them new and different demands on business specialists and managers of enterprises. These developments, together with an emerging, demographically induced shortages of specialists call for an industry-focused realignment of academic business education and training. This will require curricula geared to both recent scientific findings in various disciplines and the current and future needs of the energy and water industries for specialists and managers. So far, the latter have hardly been studied systematically. The present study fills this gap.

Labour market inequality at the post-secondary level in South Africa: understanding employment and earning outcomes among graduates and diplomates

Mavundla, Khethiwe January 2017 (has links)
A dissertation submitted in partial fulfillment of the academic requirements for the degree of Masters in Development Theory and Policy, School of Economics and Business Sciences, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, March 2017 / This study explores labour market inequality amongst those with post-secondary education in South Africa. The need to invest in higher education has been emphasised as the gateway to facilitating equal opportunities in the labour market, with the view of bridging inequality in employment and incomes. Nevertheless, South Africa’s labour market remains highly unequal, despite higher rates of enrolment and completion in higher education. The existing body of literature suggests that labour market outcomes amongst those with post-secondary education are not equal, consequently widening the level of inequality within the economy. Using the Quarterly Labour Force Survey 2014 annual dataset a combination of descriptive statistics and econometric tools are employed to investigate employment and earnings outcomes between graduates and diplomates. The findings indicate that graduates are more successful in obtaining employment relative to diplomates even once demographic and geographic characteristics and field of study are controlled for. Moreover, graduates obtain a substantial earnings premium relative to diplomates even when controlling for job characteristics / XL2018
