在中國各大城市的城市發展和舊城改造浪潮中,廣州的年輕人走了出來。他們走進社區,嘗試保護他們所珍視的文化和公民價值,反思另類的城市發展方式,推動著一股逆流。年輕人們透過互聯網及個人網路加入運動,並活躍在不同的群組裡,關注舊城改造和粤語傳承,思考著如何參與一個屬於自己的城市發展。但是,整個保育運動背後,除了是現代與傳統的衝突,也充滿著本土文化與外來文化的衝突,這種衝突深深地埋在廣州地域認同的建構過程裡,運動組織在參與文化保育運動時也要處理這個問題。本研究旨在探討廣州近年崛起的文化保育運動,關注當中不同的社會運動組織如何透過框架構造來建構運動的集體身份認同,並探討身份認同和框架在運動過程中如何演化。研究發現,框架構造是建構集體身份認同框架的重要過程,框架構造會塑造運動組織早期的集體身份認同;但是後期組織內的個人身份認同會促使運動後期的框架延伸,進而建構新的集體身份認同。 / In this wave of urbanization and renewal across major cities of China, Guangzhou young activists step in the old communities, try to preserve cultures and values remained in the communities, and re-think alternative modes of urbanization and modernization. They take part in the movement through the Internet and social network, and being active participants, they consider engaging in the community development. However, there are conflicts beyond cultural conservation, between modern and traditional values, and between territorial and other cultures. These conflicts are deeply embedded in the construction process of Guangzhou territory identity, and shall be tackled by movement activists. This research aims to investigate first the construction of collective identity of cultural conservation movement by framing, and second how the two processes change. Feasibility of an educational intervention program on managing the nutrition impact symptom cluster in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma during radiotherapyJanuary 2016 (has links)
"Background: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is endemic in southern China. Despite the improvement in radiotherapy (RT) technology, NPC patients still suffer from numerous and simultaneous distressing symptoms. / Aims: The aim of the study was to explore the feasibility of an intervention program (an educational intervention program) in managing the most distressing symptom cluster (nutrition impact symptom cluster) in NPC patients during RT. / Methods: The study was carried out in two parts. Part I consisted of groundwork research (n = 130) using a cross-sectional design to identify the most distressing symptom cluster. An instrument validation was also conducted at this point. Part II covered the development process and pilot testing of an educational intervention program, guided by the Medical Research Council (MRC) framework, to manage the nutrition impact symptom cluster identified in Part I. First, to inform development of the intervention, a systematic review was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of psychoeducational intervention (PEI), which includes the educational intervention, in managing symptom clusters in patients with generic cancers. Second, a descriptive qualitative study was conducted through face-to-face semi-structured interviews with 25 NPC patients and 16 health professionals, separately, to provide further help in developing the intervention by investigating patients’ self-care experience and current clinical practice in managing the nutrition impact symptom cluster. Third, the feasibility and estimated effectiveness of the educational intervention program was explored in a pilot randomized controlled trial (RCT) (n = 40). Outcome measures, including severity of the nutrition impact symptom cluster, body weight, functional performance and quality of life (QOL), were assessed at baseline, week 3 of RT and at the end of RT. Inferential statistics, such as independent t-test, Chi-square test, Fisher’s exact test and the generalized estimating equation (GEE) model, were used to compare the baseline and various outcome variables between groups. / Results: In Part I, the Chinese version of the MD Anderson Symptom Inventory - Head and Neck Module (MDASI-HN-C) was found to be a reliable and valid instrument. The same dataset then revealed four symptom clusters in NPC patients during RT; the nutrition impact cluster was identified as the most distressing, and was thus chosen as the target outcome of the intervention. In Part II, the systematic review found that PEI, in particular, patient education, was a promising intervention to manage cancer symptom clusters. Then, the findings of the qualitative study further informed and guided the development of an educational intervention program. The pilot RCT found that the conducting the program in a clinical setting was feasible and well received by patients. It also had some favorable effects on managing the nutrition impact symptom cluster, in terms of relieving the cluster itself (Cohen’s d = -0.37), and improving the physical well-being (Cohen’s d = -0.15) and head and neck cancer (HNC) specific QOL (Cohen’s d = -0.05). / Conclusion: The implementation of the educational intervention program appears to be feasible with NPC patients during RT, showing some effect in improving the nutrition impact symptom cluster. The campaign began as a NIMBY (Not-In-My-Backyard) movement that mobilized community residents to protest against municipal government's proposed incineration projects. After its success, the movement leaders changed their dissident role to form an environmental protection NGO, collaborating with the state to explore alternative waste treatment solutions other than incineration. However, despite of the politicians and activists' attempt to eliminate waste, waste continues to exist in tandem of our consumption spree. I endeavor to understand the contradiction as well as collusion between green governance and environmental activisms in post-socialist China. / Firstly, I analyze the garbage crisis caused by the rapid urbanization and the dramatic growth of consumer society in contemporary China. Then I examine a few major technological controversies of waste incineration and depict how the activists protest against the pro-incineration government. I argue that through deploying local knowledge, the activists, as "lay experts", successfully challenged the "local appropriateness" of the global technology of incineration. Next, I provide an in-depth ethnography of the transformation of this campaign after its initial success. I notice that by taking the form of an environmental NGO called "EC", the campaign was legitimized, institutionalized and incorporated into the state’s governance framework. The environmental activism became an aid to the state’s green governmentality. Lastly, I take a detailed look at the waste classification campaign jointly launched by Guangzhou government and EC. I point out that the ambiguous role of the state in this campaign, the profit-oriented recycling market together with the idealist knowledge/practice systems of this project make this campaign extremely difficult. / My research challenges the state-society dichotomy by showing that the trajectory of the campaign is dialectically entangled with the transformation of the state’s governance. The state constantly incorporates the resistance and alternative discourses produced in the movement, whereas the activists keep on producing alternative knowledge to challenge the state. Moreover, this study deepens the understanding of waste by considering waste as a flexible category in which various actors such as state, market, technosicence, consumers as well as the environmental activists are producing, competing and reconstructing its meaning. 隨著網絡游戲産業在中國的蓬勃發展以及網絡游戲在青少年中的盛行,網絡游戲中的暴力元素對青少年的影響也日益成爲各方關注的焦點。當前國內外的研究多爲行爲層面的效果探討,且未達成共識。本研究以涵化理論爲理論框架,討論暴力網絡游戲對青年認知、態度、情感等層面的影響,同時考察玩家的暴力經驗與網游的認知真實這兩個調節變量的作用。在此基礎上進一步探討暴力網游的“第三順序(third order)涵化效果--即對玩家暴力意圖的影響。 / 研究采用量化的問卷調查法,針對廣州市的中學生進行分層整群抽樣,樣本量爲518人。同時,以《魔獸世界》這一最受歡迎的網絡游戲爲例,分析暴力元素的展現特點以及暴力的叙事策略。 / 結果顯示,在青少年中大受歡迎的網絡遊戲,以暴力網遊爲主。暴力網游對玩家個人層面的暴力認知沒有顯著影響,社會層面的暴力認知的涵化效果僅部分成立。暴力網游的接觸量與玩家的恐懼感之間也沒有顯著正相關關係。但是另外一方面,暴力網游在“卑鄙世界綜合症、暴力態度、移情水平以及暴力意圖等方面,具有顯著的涵化效果。具體而言,玩家的暴力網游的接觸量越大,則越傾向于認爲世界是卑鄙的,他人是不值得信任的,對暴力的贊同度越高,移情水平越低,且越傾向于採取暴力行爲作爲解决矛盾衝突的手段。本文還分析了暴力網游的涵化效果與電視涵化效果的异同,給出了合理的解釋。 / 此外,本研究還利用結果方程模型對暴力網游接觸量、暴力態度、移情和暴力意圖四者之間的關係進行了探索性研究,優化後的模型顯示,暴力網游接觸量對暴力意圖既有直接正面影響,也通過影響暴力態度從而間接對暴力意圖産生影響。暴力網游接觸量還與移情有顯著負相關,但移情則與暴力意圖無顯著相關。該模型驗證了暴力網游的第三順序的涵化效果。 / With the development of online games in Mainland China and the popularity of them among adolescents,the effects of violent games on this group arise more and more attention. Researches talk more about the effect on adolescent’s behavior, and cannot confirm the causal relations between violent online games and aggression. Based on cultivation theory, the current study mainly investigated the effects of violent online games on adolescents from cognitive, attitudinal and affective perspective, and also tested the moderating effect of players’ violent experiences and perceived reality of online games. Moreover, this study explored the third order cultivation effect of violent online games, which refers to whether online game playing will affect players’ intentions to solve problems with aggressive behaviors. / This study adopted quantitative questionnaire surveys among adolescents as the main research method, supplemented by qualitative textual analysis. By selecting World of Warcraft, which is the most popular MMORPG game among players, this study analyzed the characteristics of how the violent elements are demonstrated and also the narrative strategies of violence. Questionnaire surveys were conducted based on a stratified cluster sampling of eight middle schools in Guangzhou. The final sample consisted of 518 adolescents. / The findings show that most popular games among adolescents are violent. Violent online games did not predicted significant violent beliefs on personal level, and partly predicted violent beliefs on societal level. Violent online game playing was not significantly associated with players’ fear of crime. However, on the other hand, the cultivation effects of violent online games on mean world syndrome, attitude toward violence, empathy and violent intentions are supported. / Adolescents who play more violent online games are more inclined to think that the world is mean,others are not worth trusted. More playing are also associated with more proviolent attitude, lower empathy, and more violent intentions. Based on these findings, the differences and similarities of cultivation effects between TV viewing and game play are analyzed. / This study also conducted an exploratory research on the relationships among violent online games playing, attitudes toward violence, empathy and violent intentions by using Structural Equation Modeling. It is found that violent online games playing directly influenced intentions, and also indirectly influenced intentions through its effects on attitude towards violence. Violent online game playing is negatively associated with empathy,but empathy is not significantly associated with intentions. Change is the central feature of our current age. The past two decades has not only witnessed the surge of emotion study in education, but also a return of large-scale change in the global educational filed. Given this context, the Senior Secondary School (SSS) curriculum reform in Mainland China, which has been put into practice since September 2004, can be regarded as a local response to this global trend. / There has been an emotional revolution in the field of social science since the beginning of the 1980s; emotion has gradually become a remarkable research topic in many subjects encompassing philosophy, sociology, psychology, history, and anthropology, etc. Accompanying this emotional revolution is an unceasing increase of research on emotion in the field of education since the middle of 1990s. However, compared with the emotional studies in the domains of teaching and educational leadership, there is far less than sophisticated understanding of teacher emotion during the process of curriculum implementation in the literature. / This research is informed by symbolic interactionism in interpreting the relationship between curriculum implementation and teachers' emotions. To be more specific, all research findings are integrated into a 3-level "Self-Interaction-Society" framework. On the level of self, emotion is the product of teachers' efforts to reframe their identities in curriculum implementation, and teachers' emotional labor reflects their presentation of self by the use of emotions. On the level of human interaction, teachers' emotions are influenced by the emotional geographies and emotional dilemmas, which respectively result from "teacher-others" interactions and "reform-situation" tensions in curriculum implementation. On the level of social structure, teachers are not only constrained by the particular emotional rules in curriculum implementation, but also employ many strategies to cope with the constraints of the situations, which effectively bridges the interactions between the curriculum implementation and teachers' emotions. / Through the exploration of teachers' emotions and changes in curriculum implementation, this research adds the once-neglected dimension of teacher emotion into curriculum implementation research. This research finds the adaptive functions that teachers play in curriculum implementation, confirms teacher's position as change agent in reform, and recognizes the value of cultural-individual perspective in understanding curriculum implementation and teachers' emotions. These findings remind us that if curriculum implementation wants to achieve the ideal effects, reformers need to take into consideration subjective meanings that individual teachers attach to the reform. Teachers' emotions are one integral part of the meanings. Furthermore, they also need to concern the reciprocal influences between the subjective meanings and curriculum implementation. When the pace of large-scale reform and individual teachers' emotional and behavioral changes are well accommodated, curriculum implementation is more likely to achieve its goals. These findings bring some implications for the implementation of SSS curriculum reform in Mainland China.
