Znalost romské kultury a tradic ve městě Tábor / The knowledge of Gypsy culture and traditions in the town Tabor

KOVÁČOVÁ, Silvie January 2007 (has links)
Following from its title, this diploma work discusses Gipsy culture and traditions, especially maps the level of knowledge comparing Gipsy and non-Gipsy inhabitants in the town of Tabor. The choice of the topic proceeds from a widely known fact involving the problematic common life of those too much different groups. Many members of the majority do not have any awareness of Gipsies being a specific group of inhabitants, having their own culture and traditions. On the other hand, the traditional life of the Gipsies has changed at all, rather has declined, especially in the field of language. Both these points of view may play an important role in one another understanding of the Gipsies and the majority. The target of my work was to map the knowledge of the Gipsy culture and traditions by the Gipsy commune and, as well, to map the knowledge of the majority. Within the framework of this, two main hypothesises were determined. The first main hypothesis assumed that the Gipsy commune in Tabor hadn´t known its tradition and culture any more. The second main hypothesis assumed that the majority hadn´t known the Gipsy tradition and culture. These two hypothesises weren´t proved because the decisive part of questioned people( both Gipsy and non-Gipsy) had known at least one element of Gipsy culture and tradition. Another important investigation was made in my work. They are specified in details in the part {\clqq}Discussion`` of my work. In consideration of the fact that nobody has ever occupied with this problem in the area of the town of Tabor, I suppose, that the points of my work may be useful for organizations that provide service for the Gipsy commune in Tabor. To make it possible, I am going to present my work on the web page of the town of Tabor.

Liaudiškojo pamaldumo formos ir jų ugdymo perspektyvos Vilniaus romų katalikų bendruomenėje / Forms of folksy devotion and educational perspective in Vilnius catholic gipsy community

Bogdanovič, Rada 23 December 2009 (has links)
Savo darbe man rūpėjo paneigti tam tikrus susiformavusius stereotipus, įrodyti, jog romai yra ir senos, garbingos kultūros skleidėjai. Darbo objektai: 1) romų katalikų liaudiškas pamaldumas; 2) ugdymo modeliavimo perspektyvos. Darbo tikslas: atskleisti Vilniaus katalikų romų bendruomenės liaudiškojo pamaldumo esminius bruožus, juos išanalizuoti, aprašyti. Darbo uždaviniai: 1) išnagrinėti Vilniaus romų bendruomenės istorinius faktus; 2) ištirti romų katalikų liaudiškojo pamaldumo tradicijas; 3) atskleisti istorinių įvykių momentus, gretinant juos su liaudiškojo pamaldumo tradicijomis; 4) išsiaiškinti šių dienų romų pamaldumo apraiškas; 5) ištirti romų katalikų apeiginius papročius; 6) išnagrinėti liaudiškojo pamaldumo katalikų romų bendruomenėje ugdymo perspektyvas. [toliau žr. visą tekstą] / Work title: Forms of folksy devotion and educational perspective in Vilnius catholic gipsy community. Work job: 1) folksy devotion of catholic gipsies; 2) educational methods. Main aim of this work was to disclose and analyse the essential points and attributes of Catholic gipsy community folksy devotion forms. I was trying to disclaim the stereotypes of gypsy’s ill – mannered image in Lithuania. Regarding this I have analysed gipsies of Vilnius town historical facts and actualities, investigated the traditions of gipsy folksy devotion. Also I have canvassed the main causal of stereotypes about gipsies coming. I have put out feelers of gipsies devotional manifestations. In context of main beliefs I have described the feasts celebration in gipsies’ families in Vilnius. Christmas, Easter, The Gates of Dawn, Crying Rock piety are very chiefs for the gipsies’ community. Also the analysis of the devotional forms helped me to establish the main cause’s connections between the persuasion and religion role for the gipsies’ mentality. In now days the pressure on the gipsies is going stronger. So it was important to me us a member of the gipsies’ community to unmask another well – grounded opinion. Regarding this it was done the research. I have decided to check out how deeply this problem is growing between Vilnius gipsies‘ community members. The main aim of research was to uncover main forms of educational perspectives for gipsies‘. The results were showy and impressive. Accomplished... [to full text]

Array processor support in GIPSY

Fabregas, Gregg Roland January 1989 (has links)
The CSPI mini-MAP array processor is supported for use with a RATFOR preprocessor in the software environment defined by the Generalized Image Processing System (GIPSY). A set of interface routines presents the mini-MAP as a tightly-coupled slave processor with well-defined rules for control from the host computer. The slave is programmed by adapting host-based software, using a proscribed set of guidelines for conversion. A software protocol has been defined to allow mini-MAP data memory to be allocated dynamically. Several examples of modified GIPSY commands are examined. / Master of Science

The caravan of deplorables: perspectives on Romani Anglophobia in late modern Britain

Lidstone, Michael Trent 04 September 2018 (has links)
Scholars researching Britain from the 1880s to the First World War have often failed to portray a diverse range of British attitudes towards the period’s state-sanctioned efforts to assimilate the Romani people. In most academic works, British voices that called for the elimination of Romani culture drown out those that were opposed to their assimilation into sedentary industrial wage-labour and formal education. They also mostly engage in only a surface analysis of the relationships between perspectives on the Romani and the great shifts occurring in British society. This thesis reveals a greater complexity of viewpoints within British society over issues of Romani assimilation that were increasingly fueled by the age’s rapid social and technological change. Poets, journalists, evangelical reformers, romantic gypsiologists and progressive politicians were some of the groups in Britain whose projections of fears and desires upon the Romani created an unintended referendum on the quickening forces of modernity. / Graduate

La représentation de la musique hongroise en France au XIXe siècle entre apparence et réalité / The Representation of the Hungarian music in France in the 19th Century between Appearance and Reality

Pethö-Vernet, Csilla 18 November 2015 (has links)
The reception and the representation of the Hungarian music in France in the 19th century is a little-known subject. There are no musicological writings dealing with this topic. The doctoral dissertation presented here aims to fill this gap. It is organized around two principal axes. The first one is the critical study of the texts which present the Hungarian music and the music making of Gypsy orchestras having spread this repertoire from different angles. The second one is the musical and stylistic analysis itself, in which we investigate how the representation of “Hungarianness” and “Gipsyness” in music, especially in dramatic genres, functions. The literary reception mirrors that the perception of the Hungarian exotic phenomenon is inseparable from a larger French and romantic context. The reflections on the “spirit of the folk”, on the orientalism, on different cultural exotic constructions, on the national character which was perceived at the same time as “popular”, but also on the romantic cult of the genius or on the aesthetics of the emotions influenced the discourse on the Hungarian musical identity. An identity defined by notions as heroism, martial character, poetic expression, profound sadness or savage gaiety and passion. The stylized musical representation, which proposes different levels of “reality” by the use of reinterpreted Hungarian elements to evoke “Hungarianness” in music (also linked to other exotic phenomena), reproduces only partially the poetic charm of the “spirit of the folk”. Serving more the aesthetics of “picturesqueness”, it misses an ultimate reality for the appearances.

Srovnání volnočasových aktivit nabízených ze strany nestátních neziskových organizací v Českých Budějovicích z hlediska podpory integrace romských dětí na základních školách / Comparison of free-time activities offered by non-governmental non-for-profit organizations in České Budějovice from the viewpoint of support of Roma children integration at basic schools

ZIMANDLOVÁ, Monika January 2013 (has links)
The thesis deals with comparison of use of free-time activities offered by non-governmental non-for-profit organizations (NNO) in České Budějovice with activities offered by basic schools (ZŠ), as one of possibilities to support integration of Roma children in the educational process. The theoretical part presents the issue of integration in general and also in respect to the target group of Roma people and Roma children attending regular basic schools. The thesis also briefly summarizes the problems of the Roma minority and their impacts on life in the society. The last chapter of the theoretical part is dedicated to NNOs in České Budějovice in respect to Roma children and their integration at school and also the content free-time activities organized by those organizations and their impacts on integration of Roma children at basic schools. The practical part of the thesis used a research investigation with qualitative strategy, performed by means semi-structured interviews. The objective of the thesis was to determine the level of utilization of free-time activities offered to the target group of Roma children by NNOs as one of the opportunities to support their integration, while the activities are intermediated not only by the basic schools but also by NNOs that focus on the mentioned target group.

Opus Alchemicum : Of myths and affects / Opus Alchemicum

Orlandi, Beatrice January 2014 (has links)
Opus Alchemicum explores the fabrication of “reality” upon imagination, and the affective relation between ideas and matter in the built environment. Like an alchemic experiment, through the manipulation of real facts and their transformation into myth, stories, rituals and objects, the project tries to demonstrate how myths are not just produced but also produce “real” by creating a collective understanding and a pattern of relations, roles and ideas. This project’s attempt is to reveal the mechanisms of reality in an act of analogy. The role of architecture, buildings and objects is investigated in its transfigured correspondent. Myths are both constructed and revealed as the language code of a discourse. The result is a work of alchemy, a product of imagination as a path of understanding. The project starts with traveling to Romania as a study case, in a journey where encounters and empathy win over maps and scheduled visits. What I bring back with me is a series of situations, assemblages, a pattern of history, places, culture and affections belonging to the very present of Romania. These situations are plunged in another larger assemblage, the European one, with Sweden as a partaker. In this country’s desires and metamorphoses we can discover those myths that belong and affect our culture and our spaces.  Opus Alchemicum is a tale about myths, behavior and built environment. About Romania, or somewhere else. About ruins and gold. About invisible values and material affects. About a vanished land, about desire and nostalgia. About displacement, diaspora and costumes. About migration. About a journey and the gas station at the mid of the road. About metamorphoses, gypsy palaces and dowries. About matter, produced, traded and extinguished. About Prussian Blue and honey. About a tower, a fountain and a secret garden. About the alchemic process of making reality out of ideas.
