Factors influencing resilience in men after divorce : exploring pastoral method of care to an African situation

Baloyi, Gift Tlharihani 07 December 2011 (has links)
The purpose of this research is to explore a mode of resilience within the context of the traditional African divorced men. A qualitative methodological design was followed, allowing unique experiences to emerge. Four men were interviewed and an in-depth qualitative analysis undertaken, in order to explore the subjective experience of resilience during and after the period of separation and divorce. The study‘s results were presented in the form of integrated and descriptive text. The participants stories were re-encountered through the researcher‘s owns frame of reference in which common themes of the divorced process were constructed. These were elaborated on and a comparative analysis was undertaken to link them to the available literature. This information gained from the research could contribute to the existing research on the impact of divorce and the ability to bounce back positively aftermath of divorce by offering this new perspective from traditional men. This project was done within the selected areas of Vatsonga speaking tribes in the Limpopo province. It was found that the most pivotal aspect of resilience as reported were social support, family support and new environment. Apart from this, the research further explored the biblical teaching on the phenomenon and discovered that:

The prevalent universality of marriage seems to confirm the biblical traditional marriage as the divine way of recreating humanity. Furthermore, the bible in both the Old and New Testaments view divorce as contrary to the divine intent. It was noted that Deut 24 does not command or encourage divorce; rather, it simply regulates divorce since it was already happening.

After a thorough exegesis of the passage and survey of the relevant interpretations in (Matthews), it is clear that Jesus forbade divorce for any reason except adultery. Divorce is unthinkable because it destroys the intended order of creation and God‘s creative act in bringing a man and a woman together in accordance with his order. God is the author of marriage; therefore, he inscribed the call to marriage in our very being by creating us as male and female. Marriage is governed by his laws, faithfully transmitted by his bride, which is the Church.

/ Thesis (PhD)--University of Pretoria, 2011. / Practical Theology / unrestricted

Social Design and Event Design in South-East Tunisia : Heterotopy of the Ksourian Space. A Project-grounded Research.

Ellouze, Nesrine 31 January 2019 (has links)
As an architectural and heritage space peculiar to Berber (Amazigh) culture, the ksar (plural ksour) was used in the past as a granary and storage space by its owners, the local semi-nomadic tribes of Southern Tunisia. With time and the change to modernity, a shift in the socio-cultural values and worldview of the local population led to the neglect or mere abandonment of the ksour. The thesis hypothesizes that the concept of heterotopia coined by Michel Foucault could help provide an interpretation of these sites leading to the opening of an innovative project space that would restore value to the ruins of the ksour, behind which, as highlighted by our field inquiry, there lie institutional, social, and intergenerational conflicts. It is in such prospect, through a project-grounded research approach grounded on an event design project that took place during four days in April 2018, that we ventured to capitalize upon the available collective intelligence resulting from the dynamics of the system of stakeholders connected with this archeological and architectural heritage, otherwise promised to a mere touristic-economic exploitation. We believe that such an approach, consonant with social innovation by design methodologies (or social design), will make it possible to secure a sustainable and culturally fruitful future to the ksour without compromising their historical, anthropological, and patrimonial richness and meaningfulness.

This study aimed to investigate the theme 'Corporate Reputation' in its most diverse approaches, thereby trying answering what is the concept of reputation, or what are their different concepts, and how it is constructed on the basis of opinions of people from areas of academic formation and that act in different positions in corporations. To better understand this concept, we made a brief context of society, organizations and individuals, seeking to understand the relationship between these to give us subsidies to the discussion of the reputation that permeating this relationship. Then we did a mapping of the different concepts and approaches that see whether consolidating the academic discussion on the topic thus divide 'corporate reputation' in three broad approaches: reputation as an asset, reputation as evaluation and reputation as perception. We also work with aspects the crisis, identity and image that are present in the various approaches. Latter, we went to the camp and interviewed 14 professionals from various fields, placing two key-questions: 'What is corporate reputation?' and 'How to build a corporate reputation?' We seek to contribute to the advancement of knowledge of a field of research still in beginning and very premature in Brasil, through the form of search called Grounded Research. From the results of the interviews, we create eight categories: concepts of reputation, attributes of reputation, reputation as an asset, internal view, destabilizing factors of reputation, reputation and behavior in crisis, bad reputation, reputation in the banking sector. With these results, face our findings with the theory that has consolidated.
