The contribution of agriculture to the ghanaian economyAyeh, Elizabeth January 2019 (has links)
The general purpose of this study is to determine the contribution of agriculture to the economy of Ghana. The country’s economy is characterised by the presence of high level of agriculture. Agriculture is the main economic activity for most people in Ghana. The study reveals that agriculture contributes about 18% to GDP, 40.65% of total employment, and about 34% of total exports of agricultural valued added goods and source of industrial inputs (raw materials) in the country. Nevertheless, agriculture in the country has faced the following challenges: low fertiliser uses and yield, pests and diseases, inadequate modern farm inputs and technologies, lack of financial support systems, rural-urban migration, agricultural extension services, land tenure system, poor road network, and low prices for agricultural products. The government should encourage more exportation of agricultural output this would concurrently, augment the country’s foreign exchange record in a positive direction and bolster the competitive qualities of the country’s products on the international front. Also, agricultural universities, if none exist, must be created and equipped with financial and technological capacities to carry out serious research and investigation into all facets of the agricultural economy; including; forestry, aquaculture, apiculture, diseases and pest, and crop production, not excluding post-harvest and marketing researches.

Ekonomické predstihové indikátory budúceho vývoja ekonomiky v ČRRudinská, Helena January 2019 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to verify the predictive ability of selected economic and financial leading indicators of future economic development in the Czech Republic. Economic development is expressed through GDP. The literary part deal with GDP and an alternative indicator of economic development. The literary section also presents a cross-section of empirical studies by various authors dedicated to leading indicators. The empirical part is focused on the relationship between GDP and leading indicators in terms of its existence, strength and direction. Correlation analysis is used to reveal the relationship and strength. Multi-dimensional time series analysis in the form of VAR models is used to reveal the direction, followed by Granger causality.

Processing data sources with big data frameworks / Behandla datakällor med big data-ramverkNyström, Simon, Lönnegren, Joakim January 2016 (has links)
Big data is a concept that is expanding rapidly. As more and more data is generatedand garnered, there is an increasing need for efficient solutions that can be utilized to process all this data in attempts to gain value from it. The purpose of this thesis is to find an efficient way to quickly process a large number of relatively small files. More specifically, the purpose is to test two frameworks that can be used for processing big data. The frameworks that are tested against each other are Apache NiFi and Apache Storm. A method is devised in order to, firstly, construct a data flow and secondly, construct a method for testing the performance and scalability of the frameworks running this data flow. The results reveal that Apache Storm is faster than Apache NiFi, at the sort of task that was tested. As the number of nodes included in the tests went up, the performance did not always do the same. This indicates that adding more nodes to a big data processing pipeline, does not always result in a better performing setup and that, sometimes, other measures must be made to heighten the performance.

Vplyv eura na německou ekonomiku / The impact of the Euro on German economyKrották, Viliam January 2017 (has links)
This master thesis analyses the impact of the euro on the German economy. The research is conducted through the examination of German export, GDP level, and labor market. It is also supplemented with the evaluation of the past, current and future stages of the Eurozone. The thesis provides a detailed theoretical background, which explains the motivation for the creation of a common currency. As a tool to prove the validity of my hypotheses I use the synthetic control method, where I model a hypothetical case, in which Germany did not adopt the euro. The validity of my results will be tested by using the confidence intervals and comparing the RMSPE ratio. By using this unique approach, I aim to contribute to the series of academic papers about the validity of the euro. In my research I have come to the conclusion, that the euro has positively influenced Germany's economy.

Botha, Roelene 17 October 2008 (has links) (PDF)
